"What are you doing at Fenton University?"

As the car drove out the school gate, Pedro Langley suddenly asked.

Nora Scott, whose gaze was on the street, turned her head slightly at the sound. In her view was Pedro Langley’s profile as he drove, his eye sockets slightly deep, pupils dark as ink, and his features sharp and well-defined.

Her voice was slightly husky, "Mooching off the food and drinks, and cultivating my mind, incidentally."

As long as she wasn’t messing around with people, she could make up whatever she wanted.

Pedro Langley didn’t press further and instead asked, "Have you eaten?"

Joseph Sutton was a meticulous person with a regular routine and lifestyle habits, plus Sir Sutton’s reminders, ensuring she was always taken to Fenton University’s cafeteria for her three meals daily.

Extending his arm backward, Pedro Langley took out a paper bag and handed it to Nora Scott, casually mentioning, "Picked it up while passing by."

As the paper bag was handed over, Nora Scott looked closely and found it was a pack of sugar-roasted chestnuts. The paper bag was wrapped in several layers, not soaked, with the logo of the shop she recommended to Pedro Langley on New Year’s Eve printed on it.

Taking the paper bag, Nora Scott mentally traced the route for a moment.

Suddenly smiling, she asked, "From the hospital to Fenton University, you could pass by there?"

"Stopped by the company in between."

Pedro Langley replied with calm assurance.

Nora Scott believed him.

She put on gloves, opened the paper bag, and began to peel the sugar-roasted chestnuts. Through the thin plastic gloves, she could still feel the warmth of the chestnuts.

Pedro Langley occasionally glanced at her from the corner of his eye.

After peeling the chestnuts, she tossed them into her mouth one by one, throwing them with precision and grace, even making snacking seem novel.

"Speak up about Easton’s illness."

After eating a few, Nora Scott suddenly brought up the serious topic.

Taking a quick glance at her, Pedro Langley’s lips tightened, then relaxed a bit after a few seconds.

"The experts proposed several treatment plans. They can’t cure it, but they can prolong it."

Pedro Langley’s voice was steady as he explained each plan to Nora Scott. Some required taking risks, some were safe treatments, and some involved patient suffering...

The treatment plans were not perfect, merely offering several different choices.

Nora Scott listened intently. Although she had gone through each plan, anything slightly different made her eager to discuss it with Pedro Langley, hoping to find a glimmer of new hope.

"You should have understood them."

Based on Nora Scott’s reaction, Pedro Langley concluded.

Pedro Langley asked, "Did you ask your grandfather’s opinion?"

Peeled a piece of chestnut meat in hand, Nora Scott didn’t eat it, her expression drifting forward, "Conservative treatment."

At the intersection ahead, the traffic light turned from yellow to red. Pedro Langley pressed the brake, remaining silent for a moment, then lowered his voice slightly, "When I mentioned it to your grandfather, he wasn’t very keen on the treatment."

Nora Scott didn’t speak up for a while.

This wasn’t something Pedro Langley imagined or deduced incorrectly; it was a fact.

After being tormented by illness for so long, day after day, even the strongest will could be worn down bit by bit.

Antonio Easton was willing to cooperate with the treatment, fundamentally because he couldn’t let go of her, unwilling to leave her alone in the world, hence living and enduring one more day meant one more day.

Waiting for Nora Scott to respond, Pedro turned his head to look at her. Seeing her gaze downcast and silent, he slowly tightened his hand on the steering wheel, the knuckles turning white.

He spoke, his voice stifled.

Her eyelids lifted, Nora Scott’s eyes looked directly at him, a hint of retained coldness and indifference in her gaze.

Pedro Langley paused, a dry and turbulent emotion blocked in his throat, but soon swallowed both it and the words of persuasion back down.

This time, he’d done a bit of research on Nora Scott’s family situation. When investigating Antonio Easton, he also dug into the Scott family. This matter couldn’t be hidden, and a little inquiry revealed what the Scott family had done back then.

For Nora Scott, the suddenly appeared father and brother were optional. Only Antonio Easton, who took care of her from a young age, was her only relative.

She certainly wouldn’t allow Antonio Easton to leave , and if Antonio Easton suffered daily, she would undoubtedly feel awful too.

After waiting a moment with nothing to say, Nora Scott raised an eyebrow, "Say what you need to."

Her face reflected in his eyelids, his Adam’s apple rolled twice, yet Pedro Langley ultimately didn’t continue the previous topic, merely speaking with a hoarse voice, "Give me a chestnut."

Was it really necessary to hesitate for such a little thing?

Lifting the hand holding the paper bag, Nora Scott wanted to grab a new chestnut but noticed the already peeled chestnut meat in her hand. Without much thought, she handed it directly to Pedro Langley.

The chestnut meat was still warm, directly touching his thin lips. The plastic gloves rubbed slightly, vaguely sensing the warmth of her fingers, seemingly barely there, itchy, yet as it spread, it felt as if a fire burned in the heart.

Pedro Langley opened his mouth without hesitation.

As her fingers pushed the chestnut meat into his mouth, Nora Scott naturally withdrew her hand. The unintentional touch made both pause, their gazes briefly meeting before swiftly turning away.

The old shop’s sugar-roasted chestnuts, fragrant and glutinous, also carried a faint sweetness.

When the red light turned on, Pedro Langley drove forward, his gaze through the windshield fell ahead, and after a while, he spoke leisurely, "With such skillful action, you must have fed many others, haven’t you?"

His tone sour, but Nora Scott didn’t notice.

Shooting him a cold glance, Nora Scott frowned, "Why are you being so snarky, looking for trouble?"

The cold light cast on Pedro Langley’s face made his features appear even sharper and cooler, elegant yet imposing.

Pedro Langley’s lips tightened. Clearly aware it was a fit of Nameless anger, yet thinking of her so naturally feeding someone random before, the anger couldn’t be suppressed.

There was sweetness and sourness.

Suddenly, Nora Scott’s gaze fell on the street outside, her eyes narrowing slightly, and a few seconds later, she decisively spoke—

Her tone was overly assertive; Pedro Langley almost without hesitation stepped on the brakes.

Turning his head, his gaze fell on the street. In the dimly lit alley, several figures seemed to be entangled together, and a figure in an Affiliated Middle School uniform stood out.
