Mu Siyin looked at Shi Beiyu with a sad look on her face. “What time did you get home last night? I didn’t even notice.”
She frowned as she could not recall what time she had fallen asleep last night.
Shi Beiyu said gently, “You just recovered, yet you went for a long shopping haul. Of course you’d be tired. When I came to the room last night, you were already sound asleep.”
Mu Siyin pouted and looked at him. “Alright. Are you also busy with work tonight?”
Shi Beiyu knew that Mu Siyin must be bored at home alone, but he had made plans to collect the beads from Master Hu today. He knew that Master Hu would force him to a round of chess, and he would be back only late at night.
“There’s a lot to handle at work these few days, so I have no choice but to work overtime. I will spend more time with you from next week onward, okay?”
Although Mu Siyin was disappointed, she knew that she should not hold Shi Beiyu back from his work. Hence, she nodded and said, “Go ahead, you don’t have to worry about me.”
Shi Beiyu lowered his head to kiss her but pulled back halfway and landed his lips on her forehead instead. “Okay.”
Master Hu did say that his intimacy with Mu Siyin had nothing to do with Mu Siyun, but he was still rather traumatized by Mu Siyun’s appearance.
He could only endure and hold back for now.
Once Mu Siyin washed up, she headed downstairs, where Shi Beiyu took a coat and deliberately draped it on Mu Siyin.
“The temperature is dropping. Wear another layer of clothing to keep warm.”
Mu Siyin was touched yet a little dumbfounded by his gesture. “It’s not that cold. I can manage without a coat.”
Shi Beiyu insisted. “Your body is weak, so this is a must.”
Mu Siyin pouted and thought to herself, ‘What a tyrant!’
After breakfast, Mu Siyin sent Shi Beiyu off to work at the doorstep. As the car gradually disappeared from view, she dropped her smile and headed into the house with a sigh.
She was bored out of her mind without Shi Beiyu around. Worse still, he had banned her from meeting with Yangyang.
Uncle Zhong soon approached her, smiling. “Little Siyin, are you very bored without Little Beibei at home?”
Mu Siyin forced a smile and replied, “Just a little.”
Uncle Zhong’s smile widened after hearing her reply. “Do you want to return to the Mu family villa for a while? Or do you want to visit a friend and drop by the Mu family villa on the way?”
Mu Siyin lost her smile. “Don’t worry, Uncle Zhong. I will head back now and get the present for you.”
Uncle Zhong’s eyes lit up. “Little Siyin, you are the best! When you return, I will show you one or two more treasures from my collection.”
Mu Siyin raised her eyebrow. “Uncle Zhong, it seems like you have hidden quite a few treasures?”
Uncle Zhong grinned as he said, “I have lived most of my life by now, so of course, I would’ve hidden a few treasures.”
Upon hearing that, Mu Siyin could not help but envy Uncle Zhong’s carefree personality. He spent his days being happy and worried about nothing else.
Mu Siyin was escorted by the bodyguards to the Mu family villa. When she got out of the car, she noticed an additional car parked on the porch.
It was a car she was familiar with.
She raised her eyebrow in surprise and walked toward the door with a taunting smile.
Just as she reached the doorstep, she heard laughter coming from the inside.
She stopped in her tracks abruptly.
This house originally belonged to her. However, ever since her sister and mother passed away, it became a hellish place.
The people inside the house never treated her like family.
In her presence, they picked on her and schemed against her; yet in her absence, they laughed happily and seemed to have a joyous time. What an irony…
