Sophie Sullivan was slightly dazed. She sat up blankly, not knowing what to do next.
Thomas Shannon came to the bedside. He leaned down, lifted her chin, and stared deeply into her eyes.
After a moment, he let go.
Seemingly sighing, he said nothing and turned to enter the bath chamber.
The warmth of his fingertips on her chin was slowly fading.
Sophie frowned. When did Thomas Shannon become so reasonable?
She got out of bed, took his sleep gown from the wardrobe, and went to the bath chamber doorway. "Thomas Shannon, your sleep gown."
The bath chamber door opened. An arm covered in water droplets reached out and grabbed her wrist.
Before Sophie could react, she lost her balance and was pulled into the bath chamber by a forceful tug.
The bath chamber door closed. Her back was pressed tightly against it, and before her was the man’s hard, burning chest.
His chest heaved. With each inhale and exhale, scorching breath sprayed onto her cheeks.
It was so hot that her pores seemed to open slightly, a hint of dry heat prickling her skin.
A very peculiar feeling.
Under the light, the woman’s flawless, fair skin, with its translucent, rosy glow, was fatally attractive.
Thomas Shannon couldn’t control himself. He lowered his head and softly nibbled on her cheek. "Why so quiet today, hmm?"
He wasn’t accustomed to the little maniac suddenly being so docile.
A snarling little maniac seemed more lively.
"Young Master, someone died..." Sophie’s tiny hands helplessly pressed against his chest.
Her dazed eyes began to mist over.
Thomas Shannon’s eyebrows furrowed slightly. One hand cupped her chin. "Someone died? Who?"
"A slave died... eaten by a crocodile..."
Thomas Shannon recalled the scene where she was almost devoured by the crocodile. His voice was thin and slightly cool. "Are you scared?"
Perhaps the mood was unusually tender, as Sophie rarely showed weakness in front of him.
She gently, with a hint of hesitation, nestled her head into his embrace. She said nothing, but her head gave the slightest nod.
So even the little maniac was scared of something?
Thomas Shannon chuckled softly. He wrapped an arm around her waist, pulling her into his embrace. The passion he’d been eager to unleash simmered down, given her current pitiful state. Young Master Shannon decided he would spare her tonight.
Lying on the bed, Sophie’s body pressed closely against Thomas Shannon.
Through the thin layer of clothes, she felt his burning body temperature transfer to her skin.
Sophie tried to move away, but Thomas Shannon held her fast, keeping her imprisoned by his side.
The atmosphere felt right. Sophie decided to do something for herself.
At least, she wouldn’t remain in a passive position.
The man’s voice was low and magnetic, carrying threads of languor and seductive charm.
"Next time you go on a business trip, can you take me with you?"
Thomas Shannon’s eyelids drooped slightly, his fingertips idly stroking the delicate skin of her waist.
"Young Master, I don’t want to be apart from you for even a minute, for even a second. Can you take me with you?" Sophie delivered this lie without her face flushing or her heart racing; she was incredibly good at it.
"Say that again." Thomas Shannon languidly opened his eyes. Those deep, dark orbs, which seemed capable of penetrating one’s very soul, stared straight at her, unblinkingly, leaving her with nowhere to hide.
