Sophie Sullivan didn’t want to stay a second longer. Even one more second felt like it could make her break down!
The maid sneered and released her.
Sophie gasped for breath, leaning against the wall, still in shock.
「Inside the bedroom.」
Sophie lowered her eyelids, appearing very obedient and submissive. "I will study hard, Young Master."
Is she really this obedient? Thomas Shannon wondered. Could a few days really have changed her so much?
His lips curved into a light laugh. Squinting his eyes, he took a deep puff of his cigarette. "Tell me, what aspect do you plan to start working hard on?"
Beast! Sophie thought. He’s forcing me to say it, isn’t he?
"I will study hard from a technical perspective."
Thomas Shannon lifted his index finger, tapping her head twice. "Well then, I look forward to your performance."
It’s getting late. Isn’t he going to leave?
She was already exhausted, able to fall asleep the moment she closed her eyes. She had no energy to discuss technical topics with him.
"What kind of look is that?" Thomas Shannon blew a puff of cigarette smoke in her direction.
The smoke made Sophie squint. "An admiring one."
Thomas Shannon let out a low, deep laugh, as if he’d heard the funniest joke in the world.
Admire? This little maniac actually said she admires him?
A sudden pain shot through her chin. Sophie raised her eyelids to look at the man, whose smile was ambiguous.
Did I say something wrong? Isn’t that a common ailment among those maids?
"Little maniac, do you know what kind of look you just gave me?"
Sophie stared blankly, not saying a word.
Thomas Shannon leaned closer to her, his thin lips barely brushing her smooth, delicate cheek. "Hate. You wish you could kill me."
As expected... Sophie knew she couldn’t fool him so easily.
She simply stopped hiding it. "You’re right. I do hate you."
This was the first time a woman had dared to openly admit her hatred for him, and so fearlessly.
It had to be said, this little maniac was a woman of many firsts for him.
Thomas Shannon appreciated her courage, a wicked curve playing on his lips. "How do you plan to take revenge on me, hmm?"
Sophie narrowed her eyes, lowering her voice. "By making you die suddenly."
Her exquisite face bloomed with a captivating radiance, a sight impossible to look away from, making one’s heart pound as if solely for her.
"Good idea." Thomas Shannon sneered. "Well then, I look forward to your performance."
A sudden chill shot up her spine.
Stared at by his cold eyes, Sophie felt her scalp tingle and her heart tremble violently.
Thomas Shannon sneered again, extinguished his cigarette butt, and got up to leave.
Charlie River, who was standing at the doorway, bowed respectfully. "Young Master."
Thomas Shannon walked away briskly without a sideways glance.
Lying on the bed, enveloped in his scent, Sophie’s mind couldn’t find peace for a long time.
Her body was exhausted, and she desperately wanted to close her eyes and sleep.
However, her mind was extraordinarily clear. Images of the asylum, the castle, the woman in the white lab coat, and Thomas Shannon...
