Sophie dodged uneasily.
"What are you thinking? Focus."
"Can you stay a bit further away from me?"
His breath made her skin prickle uncomfortably.
Thomas Shannon looked up and chuckled softly. "What kind of nonsense are you thinking about?"
"Who’s thinking about nonsense?" Sophie clenched the pistol as Thomas’s head leaned on her shoulder again.
She held her breath, trying her best to ignore his overwhelming presence, and aimed at the bullet shell not far away.
With a clear mind, Sophie quickly pulled the trigger.
The powerful recoil made her entire arm numb. If Thomas’s hand hadn’t been holding hers, the pistol would have slipped from her grasp long ago.
The bullet shell was hit perfectly.
Sophie felt a little smug, turned her head, and shot Thomas a sidelong glance. "Am I amazing?"
Her expression was the epitome of someone fishing for praise.
Thomas Shannon chuckled lightly, raised his hand, and caressed her smooth, flawless cheek. "Amazing."
It was a sincere compliment.
Sophie snorted proudly, waved his hand away, and weighed the pistol in hers.
The more she looked at it, the more she liked it; the more she handled it, the more addicted she became.
She lowered her head, carefully caressing the pistol. "Can you give it to me?"
The pistol was suddenly snatched away.
Sophie’s eyes widened as Thomas casually tossed the pistol to Charlie River, who stood nearby. He pinched Sophie’s delicate chin. "Give you a pistol? To kill me with it?"
She was like a little beast whose paws had been removed. If she were given paws capable of hurting people, she wouldn’t be so docile. Who knows when she might use her paws against him?
Sophie pouted, a hint of disdain in her eyes. "You have that little confidence in yourself?"
"No, it’s that I think highly of you."
"Well, thank you so much for thinking so highly of me," Sophie said, turning her head away, no longer looking at him.
Instead, she focused on examining everything around her.
This place was practically a small weapon market; everywhere she looked, there were heavy weapons that made one’s blood boil with excitement.
Sophie stroked her chin. No wonder Amelia Shaw wanted to come back to Thomas Shannon. His wealth alone was enough to make countless women fall at his feet.
After leaving the Military Factory, Sophie was preoccupied.
They didn’t leave immediately but went to a quiet and secluded villa district.
The Lincoln fleet stopped, and the villa’s servants stood in formation at the doorway to greet them. "Welcome home, Young Master!"
They were, without exception, young and beautiful maidservants.
Sophie clicked her tongue twice, glancing disdainfully at Thomas. A rascal, as expected!
"What’s with that look?" Thomas pinched her jaw, forcing her to look up at him.
"Heh." Thomas sneered. "You’re certainly honest."
Releasing her, Thomas strode away like a meteor.
Sophie followed him inside.
The design was exquisite, a low-key luxury that was opulent yet maintained a dignified and grand atmosphere.
Thomas Shannon sat down on the sofa, and Harry jumped into his embrace, meowing and begging to be petted.
"Why are you still standing there? Get some water."
Sophie casually pointed. "There are so many servants, why are you asking me?"
"Aren’t you a servant?"
Sophie took a few steps forward, leaned down close to him, her red lips almost brushing against his handsome face as she whispered by his ear, "Am I a servant, hmm?"
Which servant could share his bed? Which servant could dine at the same table with him? If he wanted to order her around, it wouldn’t be that easy.
Thomas Shannon’s body tensed up.
