He tightened his grip again. "I say one sentence, and how many do you need to say back before you’re satisfied?"
Sophie Sullivan grumbled, utterly defiant, "Well, why don’t you speak then? Let’s see if I can care about you."
Sophie closed her mouth.
After a long time, Thomas Shannon eased his grip on her and headed towards the bath chamber.
A loud slamming of the door came from Young Master Shannon.
Sophie clutched her chest, having barely escaped catastrophe. She lay down, pulled up the silk quilt, covered herself, and forced herself to fall asleep immediately. At least if she slept, Thomas Shannon wouldn’t act like a beast towards her.
「The night passed without incident.」
The next day, Sophie woke up naturally.
When she opened her eyes, the man next to her was nowhere to be found. Sophie quietly exhaled in relief. His absence was a good thing; this way, she didn’t need to worry about how to face him.With Thomas Shannon’s absence, it seemed the issue of the tattoo was also put on hold for the moment.
Sophie got out of bed, washed up, and then went downstairs. The Chief Chef had already prepared breakfast. As she entered the Restaurant, the servants served each dish on the table.
Harry, who had returned from his wanderings, meowed as a greeting. He then leapt up and into her embrace. Assured that Sophie would not reject him, he curled up to take a nap.
Sophie gently massaged Harry’s little head and didn’t say anything. Quietly, she ate her breakfast. Just as Sophie left the Restaurant, she saw Amelia Shaw coming down the stairs.
Amelia had been deliberately avoiding running into Sophie, but alas, they crossed paths. Looking at Sophie’s arrogant demeanor, if it weren’t for the fact that Sophie held some leverage over her, Amelia wouldn’t be so hesitant to act.
Sophie, cradling Harry, went to sit on the sofa, acting like the mistress of the house. A servant instantly brought over fresh fruit, but Sophie didn’t even glance at it. Her arrogant demeanor was enough to make people grind their teeth in indignation!
Amelia entered the Restaurant in a sulk, only to be informed by a servant that only Sophie’s leftover breakfast remained. If she wanted to eat, she would have to cook for herself.
Amelia clenched her fists. Had the maniac’s position really risen so high? So high that the Chief Chef had to specially prepare breakfast for her?
Little did Amelia know that Sophie was still in her recovery period. She was eating according to the doctor’s strict instructions, so the Chief Chef had to prepare her meals individually.
Amelia, fuming with indignation, went into the kitchen, snagged a bottle of milk and two pieces of toast, and headed upstairs. Returning to her bedroom, biting her toast, Amelia became even more irate. Why should she be trampled upon by this newcomer, this maniac?
In just a couple of bites, she swallowed the toast and picked up the telephone to call Frank Mitchell. "Frank, have you prepared everything?"
On the other end, Frank Mitchell gave her a satisfying answer. Excitement sparked in Amelia’s eyes. She eagerly said, "Don’t worry, I’ve got this!"
Suddenly, she added a reminder, "Do it cleanly. Don’t leave any trace that anyone can follow, got it?"
"Rest assured, when I handle things, I’m meticulous. For you, I wouldn’t let anyone cast suspicion on you," Frank Mitchell always knew how to sweet-talk.
Amelia, dazzled by his words, hung up the telephone.
"Maniac, the Young Master asked you to answer the telephone."
The servant handed her the telephone. Sophie hesitated before taking it, her voice tinged with slight annoyance, "What is it?"
