Thomas Shannon took Sophie Sullivan onto the helicopter and returned to the manor at top speed.
Doctors in the manor had already received word and were waiting at the foot of the castle stairs.
The roar of the helicopter’s propellers grew louder as it approached, descending steadily.
Thomas Shannon carried the unconscious Sophie out of the cabin and strode quickly indoors. The doctors followed closely behind.
The maids, led by Minimus Hart, had never seen Young Master Shannon in such a grim and terrifying state.
He carried the soaked maniac in his arms; his anxiety and raging fury seemed entirely for the person he held.
Awakened by the roar of the helicopter’s propellers, Amelia Shaw quietly got out of bed and walked to the floor-to-ceiling windows.
Prying open a small gap with her finger, she caught sight of Thomas Shannon returning, carrying the maniac.
She frowned deeply. That maniac is still alive?
Blood rushed to her head.
She swayed, nearly toppling over.
"How is this possible? How could this be? Didn’t you say it was foolproof?"
Frank Mitchell had said he’d arranged several groups to watch the maniac from all angles. He had also developed several plans to ensure it would be foolproof. So why is that maniac still alive now?
She stumbled to the bedside. Her hands trembled as she picked up the mobile phone from the bedside table. She then hid in the bath chamber to call Frank Mitchell.
The call took a long time to connect.
"How dare you call me Samuel!" Amelia Shaw growled, her voice tight with frustration. She clenched her fists, wishing she could be standing in front of Frank Mitchell right at this very moment to ruthlessly slap his face.
"Samuel, why didn’t you tell me that maniac is so beautiful?" Frank Mitchell’s voice remained calm, completely unperturbed, as if this were merely an ordinary matter, with no lives at stake.
Amelia Shaw scoffed in disbelief. Beautiful? Is he blind? How could he think a disfigured woman like that maniac is beautiful? He’s truly beyond hopeless!
"Frank Mitchell, I suggest you see an ophthalmologist. There’s clearly something wrong with your vision!"
"Samuel, I know you women are prone to jealousy, especially towards those prettier than yourselves. To be honest, this almost succeeded. Unfortunately, the man was captivated by her beauty and decided to... play with her for a bit before finishing the job. Unexpectedly, just as he got her to a room, Thomas Shannon’s people had already locked down the entire hotel."
"What did you say?" Amelia Shaw laughed mirthlessly. "Are you kidding me?"
Frank Mitchell’s tone was flat, showing no intention of arguing with her. "Now, we can only pray that the man either escaped, or if caught, will abide by the terms of the contract and not expose us."
"Frank Mitchell, why don’t you just go die?"
Amelia Shaw couldn’t accept this. How could she accept it? They said it was foolproof! She was supposed to wake up from a nap to good news! But now? That maniac didn’t die; she was rescued by Thomas Shannon! Even if the hired man is caught and doesn’t expose us, what happens when that maniac wakes up? She’ll definitely suspect I was the one who wanted to kill her. Only I have the motive to kill her.
Amelia Shaw felt the world spin. Her legs gave out, and she crumpled to the floor. "Frank Mitchell, go die! Go die!"
"Samuel, if I die, who will be left to help you when Thomas Shannon comes after you?" Frank Mitchell chuckled softly. "Don’t forget, we’re both in the same boat now."
