Fear made his muscles convulse. Feigning terror, he kowtowed repeatedly. "Young Master Shannon, spare me! Please spare me!"
His head struck the hard floor with each kowtow, every impact solid.
Sophie raised her head and looked at Thomas Shannon, whose smile was bloodthirsty. "Why is he begging you?"
"Boring." Sophie looked away with disdain.
"Maniac, are you courting death?"
She tried to pull a fast one and escape on the way here, and now she dares to call me boring? It seems I’ve been too good to her, letting her forget the rules and her place.
With a sweep of his hand, Sophie was flung to the ground, rolling several times before stopping.
Sophie stared at him viciously. Thomas Shannon squinted, lit a cigarette, and said, "Show me what you’ve got."
Sophie slowly got up from the ground. "If I beat you, will you let me go?"
"Beat me? You’re really overestimating yourself."
This was the first time he’d encountered such a brainless woman. So naïve it was laughable!
"I said *if*. If I win, you let me go."
Determination filled Sophie’s eyes, her face tight, as if she were preparing for a fight with her back against the wall.
"Seeing how naïve you are, I’ll let you crush that hope once and for all."
Thomas Shannon beckoned with a finger. Sophie clenched her fists. Her slender, petite frame shot towards him with incredible speed.
A powerful punch, whistling as it cut through the air, aimed straight for his face.
Thomas Shannon swayed slightly, appearing behind her in an instant. His arm mercilessly clamped around her neck, tightening its grip. "Concede?"
Defeated in one move.
How could Sophie concede? This was her only chance.
She drove her elbow back, raised her long leg, and kicked back fiercely.
Vicious woman! Is she trying to make sure I have no descendants?
Thomas Shannon’s expression hardened as he dodged her attack. His hand, filled with power, clamped onto her shoulder and violently flung her.
Sophie’s body crashed heavily onto the sofa.
Before she could even react, Thomas Shannon had pinned her entire body to the sofa, rendering her immobile.
A cigarette dangled from the corner of Thomas Shannon’s lips. His handsome face remained composed and elegant as he calmly seized both her hands. "Concede now?"
"No matter how many times you try, you are no match for me." Thomas Shannon released her hands, holding the cigarette in one hand and exhaling a ring of smoke.
In a flash, Sophie snatched a wine bottle from the tea table and smashed it against the tabletop.
She stood up, sharp shards of glass clutched tightly in her hand, and pressed them to Thomas Shannon’s neck. "Concede now, Thomas Shannon?"
Thomas Shannon’s smoking faltered. A dark, fierce glint entered his deep eyes. "Maniac, I don’t like being threatened."
"Count this as my win. Let me go." Sophie had no intention of getting further entangled with him; she just wanted to leave as quickly as possible.
Thomas Shannon sneered, his eyes pitiless, and resumed his elegant smoking.
A puff of acrid white smoke billowed into Sophie’s face. In the instant she closed her eyes, an agonizing pain shot through her wrist.
Charlie River had swiftly taken her down, slamming her to the ground. "Young Master, are you alright?"
Thomas Shannon waved it off nonchalantly.
Lowering his eyelids, he looked at the woman lying at his feet.
Sophie’s entire body ached with severe pain—Charlie River had used his full strength in that takedown.
She couldn’t get up for a long time.
A pair of gleaming Italian handmade leather shoes prodded her. As Sophie raised her head, she saw the cruel smile on the man’s lips.
