Sophie Sullivan’s whole body ached. The pain from Charlie River’s rough handling was real.
She closed her eyes, wanting to lie down for a while.
The rhythmic click of leather shoes on the floor drew nearer.
Thomas Shannon pushed open the door. Sophie instantly opened her eyes, looking towards the doorway.
"Did she bully you, hm?"
Thomas Shannon held the little fellow—its fur bristling—in his embrace. It glared at her with an imposing air and let out a proud MEOW.
Sophie almost laughed. So it turned its head and ran off to complain to its master.
What a useless fellow!
Harry jumped down from Thomas Shannon’s embrace and bounced onto the bed, carefully stepping on Sophie’s body.
Each paw stepped with extreme caution.
Only after confirming there was no danger did it dare to continue walking on her.
Harry’s fluffy head approached her face. Sophie couldn’t bear it any longer. She grabbed the scruff of its neck and threw it.
"I told you not to touch me!"
"MEOW!" Harry screamed in the sky.
Thomas Shannon caught Harry. The alarmed little fellow, now submissive, sought shelter in its master’s embrace like a coward.
Sophie’s eyes met Thomas Shannon’s cold eyes, and her heart suddenly sank.
How could she forget? The little fellow’s master was still here, and she dared to abuse it.
Wasn’t she asking for death?
"Maniac, you’ve got some nerve!" The man’s voice was imposing, and Sophie instinctively sat up.
She wanted to explain, but under the stare of those cold eyes, she couldn’t defend herself.
"MEOW!" Harry stuck out its fluffy head and yowled at her.
The cat was taking advantage of its master’s influence!
"Get up if you’re not dead," Thomas Shannon said, his face gloomy and his voice icy cold.
Sophie didn’t dare dawdle. She got out of bed and stood before him, looking directly at him, her hazy eyes filled with hidden resentment.
One day, she would make him kneel at her feet!
Thomas Shannon’s indifference was tinged with gloom. He glanced at her contemptuously and turned away.
Sophie hesitated but followed him.
「In front of the grand fountain at the castle.」
A long table was laid out with several pistols.
The butler led the servants to stand with their heads bowed. Charlie River and the man in black waited nearby.
Charlie River said, "Young Master, the pistols are already prepared."
Thomas Shannon placed Harry on the table. The little fellow sniffed at the pistols, finally stopping at the one at the end and letting out a MEOW.
In Thomas Shannon’s hand, the pistol spun as effortlessly as a toy. His slender fingers and the cold gun formed a terrifying image.
Sophie stood behind Thomas Shannon. A servant suddenly pulled her in front of the fountain.
A bright red apple was placed on top of her head, and the servant quickly retreated.
By her ear was the SPLASHING of the fountain. Countless small water droplets fell onto her, bringing a chill.
"Young Master, what are you trying to do?" Sophie asked, the question slipping out before she even realized it.
