Sophie pushed her half-finished soup toward him. "I can’t drink this much. Do you want some?"
Before Thomas Shannon could answer, Amelia Shaw, unable to bear it any longer, interjected, "Thomas, that soup was specially made for the maniac by the Chief Chef. Only patients can drink it."

Sophie scooped a spoonful of soup, gently blew on it, and brought it to his lips. "I’ve tasted it. It’s delicious. Would you like to try some?"
"Maniac, Thomas doesn’t want to drink it. Why bother?" Amelia Shaw jeered, glancing disdainfully at Sophie.
Her gaze seemed to mock Sophie for her wishful thinking.
"How would you know he doesn’t want to drink it?"

She met his gaze, her beautiful eyes carrying a hint of a threat as she looked at Thomas Shannon, as if to say, If you don’t drink this, don’t even think about touching a single one of my fingertips in the future.
Thomas Shannon loathed the scheming and rivalry among women. Yet, watching the back-and-forth between Sophie and Amelia Shaw, he didn’t feel the disgust he had anticipated.
On the contrary, he found himself rather looking forward to Sophie’s next move.
His thin lips parted slightly, and he drank the soup Sophie fed him.
Amelia Shaw’s breath hitched, and the color drained from her face.

Sophie proudly tilted her delicate chin, glancing coldly at the pale-faced Amelia Shaw. She had faith in Thomas Shannon; it seemed that in such provocative situations, he had never disappointed her.
After all, they had slept together; there was a unique camaraderie between them. At the critical moment, he still sided with her.

Sophie pouted. "I saw a grease stain on your lips. I just wanted to help you wipe it off."
It was a clumsy attempt to save face and preserve her dignity.
After breakfast, Charlie River hurried into the Restaurant and whispered a few words into Thomas Shannon’s ear.
"Prepare the car." Thomas Shannon’s handsome face remained impassive as he uttered the two words.
Sophie stood up. "I’ll go upstairs to pack my luggage."
Thomas Shannon nodded. As Sophie left the Restaurant, Amelia Shaw sat beside him, her eyes filled with tears as she looked at him earnestly.
She had thought she could pretend not to care, that she could act as if sending him off was nothing. But the moment she opened her mouth, Amelia Shaw realized she couldn’t do it. No matter how well she had mentally rehearsed it, only now, as she tried to speak, did she realize just how difficult it was.
She was jealous—insanely jealous of Sophie Sullivan.
