Thomas Shannon agreed so readily that George Field could hardly believe it. His gaze moved back and forth between Sophie Sullivan and Amelia Shaw.
One of these two women must be the one most important to him. No matter who it is, now that I have her, I hold the initiative.
"Alright," George Field said. "In two hours, you come alone with my son to City N. I assume you’ve already found my location. Remember, come alone with my son, or both of your women will be burned to ashes."
Burned to ashes? Thomas Shannon’s thin lips pressed into a cold, unyielding line. George Field would have to be capable indeed to achieve that!
After hanging up the phone, Thomas Shannon looked at Charlie River. "Get ready. We’re flying to City N immediately."
Charlie River turned to leave, but Thomas Shannon spoke again, "Wait."
"Young Master, your orders?" Charlie River turned back.
"Take good care of their families."
Though Thomas Shannon hadn’t elaborated, Charlie River understood the meaning behind his single sentence. The two sacrificed bodyguards would receive the most proper burial, and their families would be taken care of in the best possible way.
Charlie River’s face was solemn, a streak of pain crossed the tip of his heart. "I understand. I’ll have people take care of the funeral arrangements and look after their families. You don’t need to worry, Young Master."
「Underground warehouse.」
Amelia Shaw was bound hand and foot and was also hung up. ᴜᴘᴅᴀᴛᴇ ꜰʀᴏᴍ 𝙣𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙡·𝕗𝕚𝕣𝕖·𝔫𝔢𝔱
Struggling, she shouted in pain, "Let me down!"
George Field sat in a chair, smoking a cigarette, his face cold. Amelia Shaw’s screams echoed through the huge warehouse, reverberating endlessly.
George Field’s attendant pulled out a pistol and pointed it at Amelia Shaw. "Shut up, or I’ll shoot you!"
Amelia Shaw was furious. They had agreed to act! Was it necessary to be so realistic?! Being hung by her hands was inhumane! The pain was so intense she felt on the verge of collapse, her arms feeling as if they were slowly becoming useless.
George Field’s sinister gaze moved from Amelia Shaw to Sophie Sullivan, who remained silent.
He took a deep drag of his cigarette. "Interesting."
He was more inclined to believe that the silent maniac was the one Thomas Shannon would favor. As for Amelia Shaw... she lacked appeal. One had a backbone, the other was spineless. The difference was stark.
Sophie Sullivan’s face contorted in pain. She couldn’t control her cold sweat; the more she perspired, the more her face stung. It was like rubbing salt in a wound, an unbearable agony. Every second felt like an eternity, the pain intensifying.
After what felt like an age, just as Sophie Sullivan was about to lose consciousness, someone finally entered from outside.
George Field’s attendant said, "Mister, Thomas Shannon is here."
Glancing at the time, George Field took a long drag from his cigarette. "He’s quite fast. It seems these two women are very important to him."
"Mister, should we let Thomas Shannon in now?" the attendant asked.
"Where’s Robert Stone? Did he bring him?"
The attendant replied, "He brought someone with a black cloth over his head. We’re not sure if it’s the Young Master. However, his build is very similar to the Young Master’s."
"Damn Thomas Shannon, still playing games with me even now!"
George Field abruptly stood up, threw down his cigarette butt, and crushed it forcefully with the tip of his shoe.
His ruthless gaze landed on Sophie Sullivan as he said sinisterly, "Keep an eye on things. Let Thomas Shannon in alone."
The attendant acknowledged the order, "Understood, Mister!"
Charlie River looked worried. "Young Master, George Field is definitely up to no good. You can’t risk going in alone!"
