Sophie Sullivan clenched her teeth. "I’ll do the talking myself."
Sophie raised her arm, her delicate fingers grasping aimlessly in the sky. "Let me get up first."
Thomas Shannon grabbed her hand and pulled her up.
Sophie took a breath, then glared at him resentfully. "Weren’t you the one who instructed it? Minimus Hart didn’t give me rice or water, enslaved me, beat and scolded me..."
"You don’t believe me, so what’s the point of me saying anything? Just let me die of illness! Don’t pretend to care about my treatment." Sophie angrily got up and walked out.
Thomas Shannon called after her, "Maniac, stop right there!"
Sophie ignored him and quickly left the bedroom.
Stepping out of the bedroom, she saw Minimus Hart standing outside the door and smiled coldly. "I didn’t die. That must be disappointing for you, right?"
Minimus Hart looked up. Seeing Thomas Shannon, who had appeared behind her unnoticed, her eyes flashed. "Young Master."
Thomas Shannon, not in the mood to deal with Minimus Hart, grabbed Sophie’s wrist. "Come back!"
Sophie snorted coldly.
Thomas Shannon glanced at Charlie River and said in a deep voice, "Call the doctor to my bedroom. Be quick."
Charlie River glanced at Sophie. The Young Master is probably calling the doctor for her. Just like last time, when she was made to clean the crocodile, the Young Master killed a crocodile to save her.
Thomas Shannon pulled Sophie back into the bedroom by her wrist.
Sophie looked defiant. "Thomas Shannon, why are you dragging me? Just let me die!"
Minimus Hart, her head lowered, squinted. How dare she speak to the Young Master like that? She’s simply courting death!
She waited for the Young Master’s anger, but to her dismay, what came was the loud slam of a door.
Astonished, Minimus Hart raised her head. The Young Master... actually indulges her ? Why? Why would an ugly woman receive his favor?
Thomas Shannon grabbed Sophie’s chin with one hand. "What are you shouting about? Weren’t you about to die of illness? Still have the strength to yell?"
Sophie took a deep breath and slightly lowered her head. Her waterfall-like hair cascaded smoothly down her shoulders, partially covering her face.
"I know you don’t believe anything I say. Minimus Hart is your person. You’ll definitely believe her, not me. Since you don’t believe me, don’t pretend to be nice to me. I don’t need it."
"Which of your eyes saw me being nice to you?" Thomas Shannon snorted coldly.
Sophie replied very honestly, "Both of them."
Thomas Shannon was speechless. It’s not like anyone would think you’re mute if you just kept quiet!
The doctor arrived swiftly. He measured Sophie’s temperature: 39.5 degrees. A high fever.
"Lie down on the bed and get ready for a fluid transfusion." Thomas Shannon frowned, a cigarette held in the corner of his lips, ready to be lit.
He had thought someone with such a high fever would be obedient.
But Sophie just sat there, unmoving. Thomas Shannon paused in the act of lighting his cigarette. "Didn’t you hear me?"
"I don’t dare." Sophie pouted. "Never mind lying on your bed, I can’t even enter your bedroom. Otherwise, Minimus Hart will torture me to death."
Thomas Shannon took the cigarette from the corner of his lips, crumpled it in his hand, and, suppressing his anger, said, "I told you to go, so why all the nonsense?"
Sophie said nothing, lifted the silk quilt, and lay down on the bed.
The doctor immediately prepared a fever-reducing medication and began the fluid transfusion.
Soon, Sophie fell into a drowsy sleep.
While she slept, the man who had been sitting on the sofa got up and left the bedroom.
