"Daring to glare? Do you know what mistake you’ve made?" Thomas Shannon pulled her into his embrace, gripping her chin with one hand and tilting her head up, forcing her to look at him.
Sophie was speechless.
Thomas Shannon touched her lips, then her collarbone. "From head to toe, you belong to me. If anyone touches any part of you, you’ll become worthless. Understand?"
Ha, how ridiculous. Does he mean he wants her to remain faithful to him? By what right? What gives him the authority to demand that of her?
Sophie glared at him, her red lips curling into a mocking sneer. "You’re a man I’ve used too. If someone else touches you, you’ll be just as worthless, you know?"
The nearby maids and servants gasped. Daring to speak to the Young Master like that? Does she have a death wish?! Everyone, including Charlie River, waited to see what would happen to her, fully expecting that such insolent words would earn the Young Master’s punishment.
Thomas Shannon froze for a moment, then chuckled, faint amusement lines appearing by his narrow eyes. "Say that again."
"Fine, I’ll say it! You’re also someone I’ve used—Mmph!" Sophie’s words were cut off as he gripped her jaw firmly. An aching numbness spread through her cheeks.
"The rules you were taught—where have they all gone?" The man’s voice, with its slightly drawn-out and lilting final syllables, carried an indescribable allure.
Sophie glared fiercely back at him. She wouldn’t be outdone in presence!
An embarrassing sound echoed between them.
Thomas Shannon frowned, his handsome face darkening. "What was that sound?"
She was already famished, and now, smelling the aroma of food, her stomach immediately lodged a strong protest. Sophie couldn’t control it; no sooner had Thomas Shannon finished speaking than her stomach rumbled loudly again.
"Hungry?" Raising an eyebrow, Thomas Shannon eased his grip on her jaw.
Sophie stubbornly turned her face away, rubbing her aching cheeks. "Isn’t it obvious?!"
"Answer me!" Thomas Shannon’s cold eyes darkened. She’s really asking for it! If she isn’t disciplined for three days, she’ll forget who her master is! Who on earth spoiled her ?!
"I’m hungry!" Sophie snapped, no longer caring about dignity. Filling her stomach was the most important thing right now. She walked past Thomas Shannon, headed straight for the dining table, and sat down in a chair. "Get me a set of tableware."
The servants didn’t move. Without an order from Thomas Shannon, none of them dared to act on their own.
Sophie smiled and shrugged indifferently. She then picked up Thomas Shannon’s chopsticks and began to eat.
Thomas Shannon turned and saw her wolfing down the food. Her complete lack of table manners made him frown. "Those are my chopsticks."
"So what? We’ve already kissed. Getting worked up over this now is just being overly fastidious."
Thomas Shannon was speechless. Sharp-tongued!
Taking his seat at the head of the table, Thomas Shannon bent his index finger and tapped twice on the tabletop. "Bring another set of tableware."
"Yes, Young Master." A servant turned and quickly brought over a set of tableware.
Sophie, quick-eyed and deft, reached out to take it, but her hand was intercepted in mid-air by a slender, fair palm.
"What are you doing?" Sophie shot Thomas Shannon a sidelong glance.
Sophie let go and placed the chopsticks she had just been using in front of him. "These are yours."
The corner of Thomas Shannon’s mouth curled up slightly as he eyed her teasingly. "You want me to use the ones you’ve used?"
"Is there a problem?"
"Your saliva is on them."
Sophie retorted confidently, "You weren’t disgusted by my saliva when we were kissing, were you?"
