Lu Yinchu quickly returned with some cold desserts, a creamy type supplemented with lots of fruit - indeed, he wasn’t keen on her consuming too many cold treats!
"I’m not sure if this counts as a cold dessert or a sweet!" Nanxi said, somewhat huffy.
Lu Yinchu laughed, "Why can’t it be both? Is that not good?"
Nanxi frowned. Okay, she admitted defeat; she couldn’t argue with him!
"I want to visit the junior high school I once attended..." Nanxi said.
She had only been in high school for one year. Although she had deep feelings for it, it couldn’t compare to her junior high. Regarding her primary school, she had moved around quite a few schools during those years. Therefore, her emotional homing signal was all messed up!
She wanted to visit her old junior high school. If possible, she might even see some of her former teachers!
Lu Yinchu laughed and nodded, "Alright!"
Nanxi stared at his handsome face, bathed in the soft sunlight. It was profound, fascinating, and... deep with affection!
To say that her emotions weren’t stirred would be a lie!
After finishing their cold desserts, they stepped outside to a slightly less intense sun. It must have been about four in the afternoon. Lu Yinchu wanted to dial Mo Yan, but Nanxi stopped him, "Let’s take a taxi!"
She felt that having Mo Yan continuously trailing them was quite tiring, and she was always hesitant to linger for too long, afraid that leaving Mo Yan to wait for them nearby would bore him!
Lu Yinchu looked into her eyes, flashed a smile, and quietly agreed, "Alright!"
There were a lot of taxis in Hong Kong, and the drivers were quite friendly. Lu Yinchu, with his fluent Cantonese, haggled with the driver over the fare, leaving Nanxi somewhat stunned!
Who would have thought that Lu Yinchu could speak Cantonese so well, and was even able to haggle so authentically!
Once they got in the car, Nanxi remained slightly stunned. Despite being past four in the afternoon, the city was still bustling. All sorts of billboards and multicolored clothing flashed by out the car window, a dazzling sight!
The journey was slow because of traffic, but Nanxi didn’t mind. She simply enjoyed the view outside the car window. Lu Yinchu maintained a placid expression, revealing no hints of emotion.
Occasionally, he would steal a glance at Nanxi. Every time he did, he would unconsciously tighten his grip on her hand.
Nanxi didn’t avoid his touch, nor did she flinch. She simply allowed him to hold her hand!
It took more than half an hour for the taxi to arrive at Nanxi’s former junior high school.
At this moment, school had already let out, so the campus seemed somewhat deserted. Nanxi and Lu Yinchu exited the taxi, and Lu Yinchu reached for his wallet to pay. The driver looked surprised when Lu Yinchu gave him money!
That’s because Lu Yinchu gave him the exact amount they had agreed on after haggling - although, that amount was actually slightly overpriced. So when the driver had accepted the lowered price during the negotiation, he hadn’t thought much of it, even if he had mumbled some complaints!
Watching the couple walk away hand in hand, the driver opened his mouth to say something, but eventually said nothing, leaving only a sigh and a faint sense of embarrassment.
Nanxi, hand in hand with Lu Yinchu, was walking towards the school entrance. When Nanxi looked at him, he asked, puzzled, "What’s the matter? Is something on my face?"
Nanxi shook her head, "No. I just think you’re quite the pretender!"
Lu Yinchu laughed. Pretender? He seemed to have heard that from someone else before!
But if he didn’t know how to pretend, how could he continue his eight-year streak of being admired by all? At least comparing to being pitied, he leaned more towards the former!
As he thought of this, his gaze darkened slightly. But he remained calm and composed, so Nanxi didn’t notice it!
He said, "That driver just witnessed our entire process of handholding and taking a taxi together; I can’t treat him poorly..."
Thinking about it, this was indeed the first time that the two of them took a taxi together!
"If that’s the case, why didn’t you give him more? You could have just multiplied the amount by ten or eight, or simply give him all the money in your wallet..." After all, you’re loaded!
Lu Yinchu laughed and ruffled her hair, "Of course not. Nanxi, you must know that people are greedy. If you give them a little extra benefit, they might be grateful to you and consider you a good person. They would feel lucky. But if you give them too many benefits, their minds will start to be guarded or even suspicious of you.
