Li Mufang looked at Qi Qun in surprise and asked, "Mom, do you want me to call Uncle? Are you looking for him?"
"No need!" Qi Qun refused, "No need to call, if necessary, I can make the call myself!"
As she spoke, Qi Qun watched the Land Rover drove away slowly until it disappeared completely from her sight!
Then, she told her eldest daughter, "Call Weihuan again, tell him he must come home tonight. I have something to ask him, about Gu Nanxi!"
Lu Yinchu drove all the way to Shuicheng Residential District, then took out two big bags from the trunk. Lu Yinchu handed the bigger bag, filled with baby clothes and toys, to Nanxi. It wasn’t heavy, so if she wanted to carry it, he let her.
Nanxi gratefully accepted the bag, sweetly clinging to his arm, "Lu Yinchu, this feeling, it’s so wonderful!"
The man smiled, ruffled her hair and said, "In the future, you’ll be even happier."
Nanxi’s happiness reached new heights that night, dining on a meal personally cooked by her husband.
After washing up, she laid out the tiny clothes, shoes, and toys on the bed one by one, taking pictures with her phone!
The more she looked at them, the more she liked them. The more she looked at them, the more adorable they seemed!
Lu Yinchu had been busy with some work in the study. When he returned and saw the colorful trinkets spread out on the bed, his eyes softened slightly. He knew she would like them, but he didn’t expect her to like them this much!
He walked up to Nanxi, who was incessantly snapping pictures with her phone, pulled her into his arms and asked, "Have you taken enough pictures?"
"Not enough, no matter how many I take, it’s never enough!"
"You can continue taking photos tomorrow, then."
Lu Yinchu rubbed his face against hers, breathing in her intoxicating scent— so sweet and soft.
Smelling the faint scent of tobacco on the man, Nanxi gasped, "Alright, I’ll continue tomorrow."
While Lu Yinchu took a shower, Nanxi began tidying up the toys on the bed, her mood uplifted!
Her phone rang. It was a call on Lu Yinchu’s phone. Nanxi leaned in to take a look. The caller ID was labeled: Nephew!
A call from Li Weihuan?
Her eyes flickered, but she decided not to pick up the phone.
When Lu Yinchu came out of the shower, Nanxi had already tidied up the bed. As they exchanged glances, the man was brimming with desire, exuding an intoxicating damp allure as he approached.
He quickly walked to the edge of the bed, leant down and sniffed her neck, extending his hand to hold her. Yet, Nanxi dodged, and blushing faintly as she spoke, "Um, Lu Yinchu...your phone rang...It was a call from Weihuan..."
During the day, Li Weihuan received two calls from Li Mufang, urging him to come home for dinner that night. Li Mufang pleaded insistently, afraid of his refusal. To avoid dragging the conversation on, Li Weihuan gave a noncommittal reply before hanging up!
Whether he would go home that night, he didn’t give it much thought. With his family, he lacked any sense of warmth or happiness. He had never known such feelings since childhood. As he grew up, it became a habit. Such feelings, or lack thereof, ceased to matter.
During his childhood, Li Weihuan loved visiting the Lu family. He loved Xia Zhen, adored the old patriarch, cherished Lu Yinchu, and even the servants, who he felt were warm and humane. What did his own house have to offer, besides arguments? Though it was a dazzling mansion on the outside, on the inside, it was chillingly cold!
The reason Qi Qun called him home was either for work or another arranged date, both of which were things Li Weihuan didn’t want Qi Qun interfering in!
In terms of the future, what path Li Weihuan would take and where it would eventually lead him, he honestly didn’t know.
In the past, when he was with Nanxi, he had many dreams. He envisioned how much money he would make in the future, the type of house he would buy, the car he would drive - all these plans had a fleeting existence in his mind. Carrying out these targets one by one for Nanxi felt like a dream!
However, the happiness he expected ultimately slipped away, throwing his life goals into turmoil. On the subject of love, he had already given up hope. He even felt that passing the rest of his life reminiscing about Nanxi wouldn’t be too bad!
Did he ever consider finding another girl and spending a lifetime with her? Never! Not once in the vast world had he considered it. Discovering Nanxi amongst the sea of faces was his greatest fortune and possibly the result of thousands of years of accumulated karma. He didn’t want to choose to betray what he felt was his destiny!
