Knowing Nan Feng was coming, Ye Ge felt a wave of excitement. After leaving the dining hall, he took a shortcut, using his light Kung Fu to reach the dormitory building within the blink of an eye, as there was no one around.
Once he arrived at the dormitory building, he reverted to his serious and aloof demeanor, strolling up the stairs with his breakfast while even managing to give a slight nod to Wan Jian’an’s wife as he passed her.
Perhaps to avoid suspicion, Nan Feng did not close the door upon entering, allowing Ye Ge a glimpse of her silhouette even before he reached the door.
She had recently purchased some new clothes. The outfit she wore consisted of a white inner dress paired with a water-green outer gauze veil. Her hair was styled into a bun held up by the white jade hairpin he gave her, and the rest of her hair, reaching her waist, was left hanging loose. Her slender figure and her silhouette alone already had him awestruck.
Unaware that Ye Ge was standing at the door, Nan Feng focused on the books on his shelf, mostly consisting of military strategies and historical records. To be honest, she found these books rather challenging and unappealing.
She would rather read books related to commerce or medicine.
Since Ye Ge’s place does not have such books, she let her attention wander towards other things.
Ye Ge’s room was very simple – only a bed, a desk, a bookshelf, and a wardrobe, nothing else. The room was clean and tidy, which made it pleasant to be in. On the desk, there were two neatly placed writing brushes and a half-finished sheet of rice paper. He appeared to be copying down content from a military strategy book. Nan Feng saw a line written in Classical Chinese: “Plan for profit and listen, this is strategy. Strategy is to gain control through profit…”
Classical Chinese is too arcane. Nan Feng didn’t bother to read more, she merely admired Ye Ge’s calligraphy.
His calligraphy was vigorous and natural, quite appealing to the eyes.
As Nan Feng was admiring his calligraphy, she suddenly felt the cast of a shadow over her. She immediately spun around to find herself suddenly pressed against the firm chest of the man standing behind her.
As Nan Feng looked up, she was greeted by a pair of familiar, deep eyes. “You’re back?” she asked.
“Yes.”
He remained pressed against her without any intention of backing away.
Nan Feng felt like she was pinned to the desk by him, not knowing which way to dodge without seeming too impolite.
All she could do was point towards the door, hinting that it was still open.
Finally, Ye Ge took a step back, allowing Nan Feng the space to move.
Letting out a sigh of relief, Nan Feng noticed the breakfast in Ye Ge’s hand and said with a smile, “I was about to invite you out for breakfast, but it seems like you’ve already bought it. I’ve managed to save some money on a meal.”
Ye Ge placed the breakfast on the table and gave her a smile, “Eating at home has a better atmosphere.”
“Yes, indeed,” agreed Nan Feng. Here they were, just the two of them eating breakfast together. Was this like a glimpse into married life?
Nan Feng grabbed a fried dough stick and started to eat.
The fried dough sticks were cooked using pure peanut oil without using alum. They tasted lightly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The soy milk was made traditionally using a stone mill, giving it a strong, aromatic soy flavor.
Finding it delicious, Nan Feng finished one stick and picked up another.
Ye Ge simply watched her as he ate.
However, Nan Feng was not as voracious as she had been back in Da Ping village. After eating half of her second stick, she was already full and could only look at Ye Ge with a helpless expression, “What to do? I can’t finish this last half.”
Without a word, Ye Ge took the half-eaten dough stick from her hand and took a bite.
“…” He didn’t seem to mind her saliva at all.
Well, they had kissed each other already. There was no point in being disgusted by saliva anymore.
