The Penglai Residence was buzzing with laughter as An Yiqing, Duan Jingning, and Ma Tianci enjoyed their conversation, but elsewhere in Xuandu City, chaos had erupted!
The Jade Stone Association meeting had just concluded, and Qin Jia and her brother, Qin Fang, who had been taken away early, had arrived home.
Inside the grand Qin Family estate, Qin Dingshan received the news and sat motionless on the living room sofa, his normally smiling square face now devoid of joy, cast in a gloomy shadow. His eyes, with their distinctive triangles of white, suddenly bulged out, displaying a frightening amount of sclera. Everyone from the Qin Family and the household staff dared not utter a word, let alone breathe loudly.
After a moment, a cacophony erupted from outside the mansion. Qin Fang and Qin Jia’s mother, Xiao Shulan, hurriedly stood up and ran to the front door.
Soon, her screams echoed inside the house.
"How could this happen! Jiajia, what happened to you!" Xiao Shulan shrieked in shock and anger at the sight of Qin Jia, who was covered in bruises and bloodstains, "What on earth happened! Tianci, what’s wrong with you? Ah? Say something!"
As the servants carried Qin Fang and Qin Jia from the front door to the inside, Xiao Shulan’s screams grew louder, and the people in the Qin Family’s living room felt as if long fingernails were scraping a chalkboard inside their ears, causing an uncomfortable tingling sensation in their teeth.
"Oh come on, sister-in-law, can’t you just stop shouting! Are we supposed to live !" Qin Dingshan’s youngest daughter, Qin Yu, impatiently cleared her ears and her beautifully drawn eyebrows shot up in irritation, her young face, suggesting she was in her late twenties, filled with disgust.
"Shut your mouth!" Xiao Shulan, not one to back down easily, glared at Qin Yu and screeched, "Jiajia and Tianci are your nephews, how can you talk like that!"
"Hmph! You know very well they are siblings!" Qin Yu sneered coldly, her eyes emphasized with red shadow rolled, "The things they did today have completely disgraced the Qin Family! How is my father supposed to hold his head up in Xuandu now?!"
Upon hearing this, Xiao Shulan’s emotions intensified, and she screamed at the top of her lungs, "This is a setup! A setup! You don’t know shit, you..."
Before Xiao Shulan could finish, a roar came, followed by a remote control flying through the air, smacking her in the face.
"You don’t get to speak here!" Qin Dingshan stood up, tapping his cane with a smack, his face red with fury, his eyes like those of a malevolent spirit as he berated Xiao Shulan, "They’re the ’good children’ you’ve raised! You’ve made our whole family lose face! What use are these beasts!? Get out! Just get out!" With that, Qin Dingshan grabbed his cane and strode forward with large steps, furiously swinging it at Qin Fang and Qin Jia.
Qin Fang was somewhat better off; being a man who usually had his way with many women, he had already come to terms with the incident on the way back. When Qin Dingshan’s cane descended upon him, Qin Fang howled repeatedly, fearing that the beating would hurt him.
But for Qin Jia, it was complete ruin. She had always harbored feelings for Gu Yelin and, although no longer a virgin, still dreamed of marrying into the Gu Family. However, this scandal shattered all her hopes! The mere thought of what had transpired made her feel sick!
Qin Jia felt utterly defeated as Qin Dingshan’s cane came crashing down; she didn’t even try to avoid it. Staring blankly at the ceiling, her eyes hollow, it was unclear what she was thinking.
Seeing Qin Dingshan enraged, Xiao Shulan quickly stepped in to block him.
"Mr. Qin, are you out of your mind! Your father is about to beat your son! Aren’t you going to say anything?" Xiao Shulan extended her hand to block Qin Dingshan while speaking to Qin Fang and Qin Jia’s father, who was slumped in the sofa.
The Qin Family’s Second Son, father to Qin Fang and Qin Jia, slowly lifted his head upon hearing the commotion, his eyes filled with fear as he looked at the chaotic scene involving his parent, wife, and daughter. After mumbling a few words and showing no concern, his gaze fell back down.
