Chapter 60-61
After meeting up with Mu Yunyao numerous times, Lady Jin was sure that since Mu Yunyao had sent the clothing over to her and requested Lady Jin to personally pass it to the Provincial Governor’s wife, the clothing would be enough to make the receiver extremely satisfied . After all, with Mu Yunyao’s smarts, she would definitely not want these two important people to become her enemy .
Mu Yunyao returned to her residence and saw Su Qing chasing two chubby, round and furry chicks around the residence . She froze a little before asking, “Mother, what are you doing?”
Hearing Mu Yunyao’s voice, Su Qing immediately stopped her running . The two chicks also stopped short to pick on Su Qing’s embroidered shoes . “Yao Er, you’re back . Today, at the entrance, I saw someone selling little chicks, so I decided to buy two . After buying them, I realised that they were this cheeky, so I decided to just let them go to avoid letting them destroy the cleanliness here . ”
Mu Yunyao squatted down and reached out both hands towards the two little chicks . “Why get rid of them? Since this is Mother’s residence, Mother can have any pet she wants . ”
When her Mother had been pregnant with her, she was still unable to get proper rest . In the winter, Li Shi would force her to wash clothes with freezing cold water . Su Qing always got sick and the joints in her fingers hurt terribly, thus she was unable to do anymore embroidery work . These days, Mu Yunyao had become extremely busy with embroidery, thus she did not have enough time to accompany Su Qing . The fact that Su Qing bought two little chicks must be because she had started to feel lonely .
“You need to make clothes, so your environment must be especially clean . These two chicks will make way too much trouble . ”
Su Qing was a little sad . Actually, she had wanted to raise these two chicks to adulthood . Then she would kill them and make soup to nutrition Yunyao . However, after buying them, she remembered that they were not poor anymore, she could just buy two adult chickens straight away instead of raising two chicks from young .
The two chicks saw Mu Yunyao’s pale fingernails and used their sharp little beaks to poke at them, causing Mu Yunyao to grin . “Mother, we can keep two little chicks . If they are too naughty, we can just teach them . ”
“This……Yunyao likes them?”
Mu Yunyao nodded her head, “I like them . ” As long as she can make Su Qing happy, even if Su Qing wanted tigers, Mu Yunyao would have no problem at all .
“Alright then, Mother will take care of them . ” Since Yao Er likes them, she will not make soup out of them .
Mu Yunyao got up and accompanied Su Qing into the backyard . As she walked, she said to Liu Liang, “Bring those two to the back, be careful with them . ”
Liu Liang widened his eyes . He stared at the two chicks and furrowed his eyebrows at their incessant chirping .
Su Qing poured some tea for Mu Yunyao . The two sat down and started to to chat . “Yao Er, have you sent the clothes to the Provincial Governor’s wife?”
“Yep, I requested Lady Jin to do it for me . ”
“Won’t this be a pain for her?”
“Of course not . Even if Lady Jin was super busy, she would still want to help me pass the clothes on . ”
“Why is that?” Su Qing was confused .
Mu Yunyao explained patiently, “If the Provincial Governor’s wife is satisfied with my clothing, and Lady Jin had helped me some, the Provincial Governor’s wife would automatically have a better impression of Lady Jin . If she isn’t satisfied, Lady Jin can just push all the blame onto me . No matter what, Lady Jin will not lose anything . ”
For people to have a better relationship, they would have to see the other more . Since Lady Jin had a great excuse to visit the Provincial Governor’s residence, she would definitely not let it go to waste .
Su Qing sighed, “Human relations are so complicated . Just one small matter has so many hidden reason behind it . ” What if in the future, the Su family finds them and takes them away? How was she going to cope in that environment?
Seeing that Su Qing had gotten lost in her thoughts, Mu Yunyao quickly held her arm . “Mother should just do anything that she likes, don’t worry about anything else . ”
If one had to worry so much about this, it just means that one’s position in society is low . If one were an important person, all she had to do was wait for others to do things for you . So, Mu Yunyao’s goal was to raise Su Qing’s status, so that Su Qing can live a carefree life .
“Alright,” Su Qing nodded her head . However, she secretly decided to mind her words more . At least if the time ever comes for them to enter the Su family, she would not make too much trouble for Mu Yunyao .
The next day, Mu Yunyao taught the ten girls embroidery, but she saw that all of them were distracted .
“What is going on? Did something happen?”
The ten girls looked at each other . After a while, one of them spoke up . “Miss, yesterday, we saw the clothes that you had made for the Provincial Governor’s wife . We weren’t able to see anything special about it, yet we were afraid that if we asked, you would scold us……”
Mu Yunyao smiled, “You saw that the clothing looked really ordinary, and thought that it was weird that I was giving it to the Provincial Governor’s wife?”
“Please forgive us, we just thought really hard but couldn’t really find a reason, so……”
“Although we say that these clothes are tailored according to a person’s measurements, it does not only depend on those measurements . It also depends on the person that we are making the clothes for . For different people, of course the clothes must be different . There is no point in making heavily decorated clothing for a child, and totally wrong to make bright, colourful and fun clothing for an elderly . No one would want to see that . ”
“So Miss is saying that you made the clothes according to the Provincial Governor’s wife’s aura?”
Mu Yunyao smiled, but she did not answer her . “Alright, it’s not early anymore . You should all continue with your sewing . ” In just a few days, there were already three girls who had shown immense improvement, totally surpassing Mu Yunyao’s expectations . Soon, they will be of great use to her .
When the Provinicial Governor’s wife heard that Lady Jin had brought her clothing, she immediately enthusiastically invited her in . When she saw Lady Jin was about to do her formal greeting, she quickly stopped her . “Don’t mind these formalities, it’s such a hot day, and yet you had to take the trouble to come here, I am regretful . We have some ice bowls in the kitchen, we can taste them together . ”
Lady Jin, however, still did her greetings . Then, she went to sit beside the Provincial Governor’s wife . “That girl was someone that I had chanced upon . I asked her to make clothes for me, and you happened to like it . These two days, I have been unable to sleep as I am afraid of the possibility that you might have waited so long for nothing . ”
“Clothes are just an accessory . One more or one less is nothing . If I had known that you have been feeling troubled, I would not have had requested this favour of you . ” The Provincial Governor’s wife was nearly fifty, yet she had taken care of her appearance . Only the sides of her eyes had wrinkles . When she smiled, she seemed warm and kind . “Quick, let me take a look . ”
“Yin Hong, bring the clothing over here . ” Yi Hong did as she was told .
When she saw the clothing, the Provincial Governor’s wife’s expression was a bit unnatural . The clothing was very traditional, nothing too special . The top and bottom were only coloured with different shades of green . It looked quite boring . There were also only dark flowers embroidered onto it, yet if one were not to take a closer look, it would not be so obvious . It was not as eye-catching as the clothing she had bought from Colour Moon Shop .
Lady Jin sipped her tea with her head lowered . When she saw the Provincial Governor’s wife’s unhappy face, she thought for a moment before speaking up . “At first, when I had that girl make my clothes, the style had been copied by others . I thought that I would be unable to wear it to the banquet, but who knew, there was a secret to it . When I walked, it looked amazing . ”
The Provincial Governor’s wife nodded her head . She studied the clothing another time and could not help but feel disappointed, though she did not show it on her face . She, however, had to give Lady Jin some face and try it on . “You sit here for a while, I will go and try it on, perhaps there might be a surprise to it . ”
Then, she got her servant to carry the clothing for her .
