Path to Becoming the Greatest Space Mercenary Chapter 239

With their attackers beaten, Avery's team went to work and tied them all up just in case any of them woke up and tried to cause more trouble.

Obviously, they did not have any rope, chains, or other restraint devices on them, but Fahad and his men were each wearing long, sturdy cloaks to hide their heads and tails.

Using their own clothing, Avery, Kasandra, Jasmine, and Kaiden tightly tied Fahad's and his subordinates' arms up to their torsos so that they would not be able to move easily.

"I guess we should give him some medicine." Avery said reluctantly as he looked at Fahad.

He was clearly in the worst shape out of anyone else and might soon die if he did not receive treatment.

Though Avery had stopped Kasandra from smashing the guy's head, she had still did a number on him. Causing some severe injuries.

Taking out a small syringe from his belt pouch, Avery injected Fahad with a dose of medical nano machines.

He made sure not to give enough to fully heal the man, but it would at least prevent him from passing away until the authorities arrived.

Thankfully, it did not take too long before three police vehicles came rushing down the tracks. Their sirens roaring loudly and their emergency lights flashing wildly.

Considering that there was a big hole in the side of the tram car they were in, courtesy of Fahad's laser grenade, Avery and Jasmine stepped out with their hands held up. They had agreed that it would be better to meet the Alliance Police outside rather than wait for them to bust in weapons drawn.

"Identify yourself." The sergeant in full combat armor said as he approached Avery and Jasmine with his team.

All of them had their weapons drawn and pointed at the two of them, but Avery and Jasmine were unconcerned. There was no hostility in their demeanors or eyes. They were merely being cautious.

"I'm Avery Asteria, a five star mercenary and recipient of the Silver Cross of Heroism."

Avery slightly moved the left side of his chest to empathize the award pinned to his coat. The clothing was in tatters from the laser grenade, but thankfully the Silver Cross of Heroism was made out of a sturdy metal and had withstood the blast without taking any damage.

Recognizing the prestigious award, the sergeant's eyes went wide, and his attitude immediately changed.

He was obviously still a bit wary of Avery, but there was now a high level of respect in his expression. There was no chance that he was going to ignore what Avery had to say and rush to judgment.

With the sergeant's permission, the rest of Avery's team exited the tram car while the police stormed in and started taking Fahad and his men into custody.

It did not take long for the police squad to access the tram's security cameras and watch the events from a few minutes ago unfold.

The video evidence corroborated Avery's story and seeing that they were clearly the victims and not at fault, the sergeant had his men lower their weapons and turned their full focus on the actual criminals instead.

"Allow me to apologize for what happened here. We're supposed to be keeping this station safe, but we failed to intervene in this attack against all of you. I'm glad that none of you were seriously hurt."

As the sergeant said this, he looked at Avery in awe. He had watched the scene where Avery was engulfed by the blast of a laser grenade and seeing him standing here now without so much as a scratch on him was astounding.

Seeing as how they had not broken any laws, all Avery's team were required to do was go back to the nearest station and give their statements. It was unlikely that they would need to stick around for any trials considering that there was plenty of evidence of Fahad and his followers wrongdoings already.

Still, the sergeant that was in charge of the case asked them about their plans and to stay in the system for a while just in case.

Fortunately, they already had obligations keeping them in the Dramid System so that was no problem. Especially since there was one other thing that Avery wanted to do involving Fahad.

"Once you've finished processing them, I'd like to speak with their leader. I'm not sure exactly why he attacked us, and I want to get to the bottom of it. If he had more allies skulking about hunting us, I need to know."

"Normally I'd deny a request like that, but considering you're a high-ranking mercenary and a recipient of the Silver Cross of Heroism, I doubt that my superiors will have a problem with agreeing." The sergeant replied with a nod of his head.

Considering Avery's rank, there was little doubt that the Mercenary Association was going to get involved in this matter. Playing hardball and upsetting them would be far from beneficial for the Alliance Police.

A lot of the time, the Association acted as a contractor for the Alliance Police and the mercenaries they supplied were essentially subcontractors. Both organizations currently needed each other to maintain relative peace within the Alliance. Considering the massive territory the Dramid Alliance controlled, there were never enough forces to go around.

After they had finished their business at the station, a police vehicle escorted Avery and his companions back to the hangar where the Dauntless was waiting.

This was both as a sign of goodwill and to prevent any further trouble from arising. The last thing the police wanted was for another violent incident to occur on their watch. One was already bad enough.

Once they were onboard and away from the prying eyes of the Alliance police, Avery turned towards Kasandra and Kaiden.

"I've respected your privacy because I know you both have secrets you don't want to talk about, but I can't turn a blind eye any longer. Not if it's going to present a major threat to my team. I need to know what we're up against and you two are going to tell me."
