With Chen Yang and Uncle Niu’s support, Niu Ming felt a lot more confident inside.
"Alright, fine, I’ll give it a try."
Niu Ming mulled it over for a minute and nodded in agreement.
"Haha, that’s the spirit. You’re still young, don’t lose your drive so easily." Chen Yang patted Niu Ming’s shoulder with a smile. After that, the group sat by the clinic entrance and chatted for a bit, only heading off their separate ways after nine o’clock.
Chen Yang took out his keys and went back into the clinic.
Back home, Chen Yang didn’t feel like practicing martial arts today. He went straight to the bathroom for a shower and planned to sleep afterward.
But just as he was about to climb into bed, he suddenly heard some minor noises coming from the backyard.
Chen Yang frowned in puzzlement and decided to go check it out.
Normally, he wouldn’t be curious, but with the herb garden in the backyard, he was a little concerned, so he went outside to take a look.
Standing at the doorway and glancing toward the backyard, he saw a small shadow jump over the wall.
Though the night was dark, Chen Yang could still make out its shape from the silhouette.
"That guy, always so listless, turns out he’s sneaking out late at night. Let’s see what that rascal is up to."
Chen Yang thought to himself and immediately followed after.
Just like Wang Cai, he climbed over the wall and tailed its shadow all the way into the village.
Seeing Wang Cai heading toward the village, Chen Yang couldn’t help being perplexed.
"What’s this rascal doing running into the village?"
Chen Yang couldn’t figure it out, but there was no need to overthink it—following along would reveal the truth.
Chen Yang continued tailing Wang Cai until it arrived at a cowshed on the edge of the village.
Not wanting to be discovered, Chen Yang stopped short and waited near a corner for a while.
After a few seconds, he crouched by the wall and peered into the cowshed.
Oh boy, Chen Yang never expected to witness such an eye-burning scene.
Wang Cai was actually... mounting another dog!
"This... no wonder that rascal! Now it all makes sense!"
Seeing this, Chen Yang was utterly speechless, unsure of how to react in the moment.
Rush in and give the rascal a couple of kicks? That didn’t seem appropriate.
Pretend nothing happened and turn around to leave? Didn’t feel right either. But his listless state was severely affecting his guard dog duties.
Chen Yang thought about it over and over, unable to decide on a proper response.
As for Wang Cai, the rascal was done in a matter of minutes.
With a couple of triumphant awoo-awoo cries, Wang Cai happily trotted out of the cowshed. Seeing this, Chen Yang quickly ducked his head back to avoid being spotted.
After Wang Cai had walked some distance away, Chen Yang resumed following him.
Initially, Chen Yang intended to wait until they got home to give the rascal a proper lecture.
But what Chen Yang hadn’t anticipated was that after leaving the cowshed, Wang Cai didn’t head back home at all—he went somewhere else... to continue!
"This rascal... seriously..."
Chen Yang was at his wit’s end.
No wonder he’s been so sluggish—now everything was crystal clear.
Every night, Wang Cai spreads his "love" all over the village! Of course he’s drained!
"You’re such a horny dog..."
Shaking his head, Chen Yang turned around and left.
He didn’t have the patience to keep following him any longer. He certainly didn’t have a fetish for keeping tabs on a dog’s nightly escapades.
Chen Yang went straight back home but didn’t act like nothing had happened. Instead, he went to the backyard to practice boxing, waiting for Wang Cai to return.
"I need to give that rascal a lesson—otherwise, with this nonsense continuing, the entire village’s dogs... cough cough! He’ll end up bragging himself to the heavens!"
Clenching his teeth, Chen Yang began practicing the Soaring Dragon Fist in the backyard.
This boxing technique was considerably more advanced than the Eight Section Fist, and he needed more practice to reach proficiency.
Chen Yang punched away vigorously in the backyard, all the way until about half past midnight, when he finally heard some movement outside the yard.
Wang Cai had returned.
Upon hearing the sound, Chen Yang immediately stopped and turned to watch the direction the sound came from.
Wang Cai directly hopped onto the wall, then leaped down into the yard.
His ears drooped, and the entire dog looked utterly drained, devoid of any energy.
Chen Yang stood in the yard watching him, but Wang Cai didn’t notice.
After jumping down from the wall, Wang Cai drooped his head and headed straight for his kennel.
Seeing his pitiful state, Chen Yang grew irritated.
Without a word, he charged forward and delivered a swift kick to Wang Cai’s rear.
Awoo awoo... feeling the sudden pain, Wang Cai instantly howled in surprise.
He even turned around and opened his mouth as if he was about to bite back, but the moment he realized it was Chen Yang, he cowered immediately.
"You rascal! Barely a few days, and you’ve hooked up with all the female dogs in the village! A canine Casanova, huh?"
Chen Yang scolded loudly.
Wang Cai was a smart animal. He understood every word Chen Yang said.
Realizing his secret escapades had been completely exposed, he immediately began acting pitiful, whining and rubbing himself against Chen Yang’s legs as if he were the most wretched creature in existence.
"Pitiful, my foot! Sleeping all day and partying all night—you’re living the life, aren’t you? What freedom, huh?"
Chen Yang continued reprimanding him loudly.
Seeing that playing the pity card wasn’t working, Wang Cai stopped whining, drooped his head, and obediently stood in front of Chen Yang, ready to endure the lecture.
Chen Yang started with a harsh scolding.
Then he began to issue some serious warnings.
"I’m warning you, rascal. Keep messing around , and I won’t give you even one Elixir! I’ll move your kennel outside—you can sleep outdoors. No more hanging around in the cowshed!"
When Wang Cai heard he might lose his Elixirs, he panicked immediately.
He started barking frantically.
His expression was like he was apologizing, but also swearing off his ways.
"Okay, I’ll give you a chance. You can indulge a little, but this chaotic behavior has got to stop, understand?" Chen Yang said.
Wang Cai barked repeatedly, his tone filled with determination.
"Alright, back to your kennel now."
Seeing that the reprimand had taken effect, Chen Yang decided to let him off the hook.
Wang Cai drooped his head and returned to his kennel.
Watching the poor soul’s dejected demeanor, Chen Yang couldn’t help but find it amusing.
What a bizarre dog, carrying every bad trait in the book!
Smiling helplessly, Chen Yang shook his head, turned around, left the backyard, and went to bed.
It was already midnight—if he didn’t sleep soon, he’d be out of energy too.
Eyes open—daylight greeted him.
Chen Yang got straight out of bed and freshened up.
Then he headed to the backyard to water the herb garden and played around with Brother Diao for a while.
Brother Diao couldn’t go without one Elixir a day lately. But every time he took one, his physical condition improved noticeably.
Chen Yang could tell this growth was rapid.
"I’ll be relying on you to hold the fort here. That rascal Wang Cai, honestly, it’s hard to find the words..."
Chen Yang teased with a chuckle.
Hearing Chen Yang compare him to Wang Cai, Brother Diao immediately rolled his eyes, his expression full of disdain.
"Haha, I know you’re amazing—you’re nothing like Wang Cai."
Feeling Brother Diao’s contempt, Chen Yang couldn’t stop laughing. After giving him his daily Elixir, he didn’t tease him further and instead turned toward the kitchen to make breakfast.
