Chapter 159: The Most Disastrous Teammate
Though Gu Anran was unharmed, it was only temporary. From the Void Rifts surrounding them, monstrous Void Beasts took notice of her and began charging toward her in a frenzy!
“Anran, be careful!” Wen Xu panicked instantly.
Without hesitation, he rushed toward Gu Anran, with Li Ling and the others following close behind.
At this critical moment, Wen Xu unleashed an immense power, his aura surging like a descended war god as he struck down multiple Void Beasts, clearing a path toward Gu Anran.
He reached her just in time, “Anran, are you okay?”
Seeing her unharmed, Wen Xu finally breathed a sigh of relief. If anything had happened to her, he would never forgive himself.
“Wen Xu… Zhao Haoran… you’re here…” Gu Anran’s face was still dazed.
She still hadn’t fully processed what was happening. All she knew was that she had followed Tang Siyuan’s advice, taken out the strange box, and activated it.
Tang Siyuan had told her that the box would release some monsters, but their strength would be weak and entirely controllable.
She had said it would be a perfect test—to see who among Wen Xu and the others truly cared about her.
So Gu Anran activated it without hesitation. The next moment—a Void Invasion erupted.
Multiple Void Rifts appeared. Terrifying Void Beasts descended in droves. The entire Trial Space turned into a bloodbath.
Yet, as the one who had activated the Void Beacon, Gu Anran remained completely unharmed.
The Void Rifts did not open near the beacon, as it would interfere with the coordinate signal. Ironically, the one responsible for this catastrophe was the only one untouched by the chaos.
Even so, she was now surrounded, as Void Beasts began detecting her presence and charging at her. She stared blankly at the carnage unfolding before her eyes.
Her mind was in complete disarray. These… were the monsters she released? No way…
This wasn’t what Tang Siyuan had told her! Why was everything so different? But Tang Siyuan wouldn’t lie to her, right?
They were best friends! There was no time for Gu Anran to think any further. The Void Beasts surged forward, their howls shaking the air.
“Die!” Wen Xu’s expression darkened.
Zhao Haoran, Li Ling, and Xu Taichu all attacked at once, unleashing high-level skills, cutting down the advancing Void Beasts.
Yet, for every wave they killed, more kept coming. It was as if something was drawing them here!
“What the hell is going on?!” Wen Xu’s expression turned grim.
These Void Beasts had gone berserk, and they were all targeting them exclusively! The endless swarms closed in, forcing them into a desperate battle.
If not for their privileged backgrounds, their stockpile of high-grade potions, and the SS-rank Blessed Priest Gu Anran constantly buffing them, they would have already been overwhelmed.
Even so, their situation was growing increasingly dire.
Just as they were about to be completely swallowed by the Void Horde, a familiar voice rang out—
“Xiao Xu!” Wen Yu appeared.
Her body was covered in wounds, her aura weak and depleted. Under normal circumstances, she could easily suppress the High-Rank Void Warlord.
Yet, due to her concern for Wen Xu, she had held back, unable to fight at full power. Despite that, she had overwhelmed the Void Warlord in battle.
However, sensing her brother’s dire situation, Wen Yu had no choice. She unleashed her trump card, executing the final blow on the High-Rank Void Warlord, killing it instantly.
But she had expended nearly all her energy, her ultimate abilities on long cooldowns, and her mana reserves drained.
This was the weakest state she had ever been in. Even so, she had arrived in time.
With a single motion, she wiped out the surrounding Void Beasts, creating a wide-open path.
“Big Sis?!” Wen Xu’s voice was filled with both joy and fear.
Seeing his sister’s battered condition, his heart clenched with guilt, “Big Sis… I’m sorry.”
Wen Yu shook her head. She held no blame for her younger brother. He was her only family in this world. No matter what he did, she could never resent him.
“We have to go!” Even though she had defeated the Void Warlord, her sense of crisis only deepened.
Something far worse was coming. The Void Invasion had gone on for far too long, yet no reinforcements had arrived. Something was very wrong.
Staying in the Trial Space was too dangerous.
As another wave of Void Beasts surged forward, Wen Yu turned to Wen Xu.
“Stay close to me. We’re breaking out!”
“Got it!” Wen Xu and the others nodded firmly.
Once they escape, they could regroup with the Eastern Army outside. Then, they would be safe.
Just as Wen Yu was about to move, an unimaginable force erupted behind her and her expression twisted in shock.
Before she could react, a massive Void Chain pierced through her right shoulder, sending her crashing to the ground, blood spraying into the air!
Everyone froze in horror.
Wen Xu turned, his heart stopping at what he saw.
Standing there… was Gu Anran. In her hand was a glowing rune fragment, radiating a sinister Void energy.
The Void Chain that had impaled Wen Yu had emerged from the rune fragment in her grasp.
Wen Yu had been critically wounded—by Gu Anran herself! Even Gu Anran was stunned. She stared at the rune fragment, her eyes wide in disbelief.
Her voice trembled, “Wh-What’s happening…?”
Her hands shook, her face drained of color. She had no idea what was going on.
“W-Why did this happen…?” Wen Xu’s face contorted in fury.
His voice exploded in rage, roaring for the first time in his life, “WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING?!?!”
