"We will make use of The Unseen" declared Derdlim, causing Gartran's hair to stand on its end, the disappearance of their old rival tribe had been long attribute to a an unknown entity that the people called 'The Unseen', many knew the story, many had been alive when it occurred, but only their queen and her great feaster actually knew anything substantial concerning this accident, rather suspicious of the event at the time, Derdlim Maulerd had gone to investigate, accompanied by her trusty subordinate.
At the time, she had feared that there had been a third tribe acting in secret, hiding from them all, and that it had been gathering its strength as they, the other two tribes continuously waged war and weakened one another, the truth was much less pleasant however, thanks to her exceptional sense to find what she considered food, the warqueen eventually managed to track down the remains of her former enemies, all stacked atop one another in a hole, covered by a boulder pushed over it.
It was already strange enough on its own, but what was stranger still, had been the fact that they were all perfectly preserved, not a single sign of composition, as if stuck in the state they had been in when they die, even more odd, was the fact that they had no faces.
All could be somewhat recognised by their bodies, the clothes they wore and such, bit without exception, their faces were missing, only a continuous stop of skin covered it all now, to prevent a panic, Maulerd and Gartran had had the corpses disposed of, so that no one could ever stumble upon them.
Obviously curious about what could have done this in the Eastern Peaks, Derdlim sought to discover the truth, also worried that this same treatment could befall her tribe if the threat was not dealt with quickly, she searched and searched, until The Unseen, made a mistake and revealed itself for a split instant, frankly, the warqueen could not have known for certain that this was what she was looking for, but when she saw that lanky hand peek from the side of a mountain's base, all from the corner of her eye, she knew that she had found it.
As it turns out, The Unseen was indeed elusive, he was not invisible, but seemed to simply know where to go to prevent any eyes from witnessing its abhorrent self.
The rival tribe had been unlucky, their home had been set right on top of its nest, the entrance of which was concealed by an aptly placed rock, the creature pushing it just a slight bit to get in and out.
They had disturbed it and paid for it with their lives, this was the only motive for The Unseen to act it seemed, annoyances had their faces stolen, which was why victims had still fallen in this area, fools who were not careful, or noticed the hidden entrance never came back from the area, their faceless corpses always dumped in this very same hole, typically, a victim of The Unseen would have at least their arms and a few ribs broken, Derdlim had never witnessed the moment a kill was done, but according the how the bones were broken, she supposed that it meant that it had the habit of grabbing its prey in its hands and just squeeze.
Gartran had seen it once as well, far into the distance, it had looked nothing but like a blurry dot to him but he remembered this time clearly still.
"But, my queen, it can not be controlled at all!
And we can not be certain that it even will target the undeads, or that it will even show up when we want it to!" indeed, the creature was true to its nickname, even if it had poked its head out in broad daylight before, it would not appear before anyone's sight willingly, the rival tribe had settled above its cave for many a few years before it took action and decimated all of them in one attack.
"That's absolutely right, but I am not planning on using its might in this manner…" Derdlim and Gartran were standing within the former's cave, the intoxicating smell of various pieces of meat and dishes permeated the air, the warqueen took a swing of a gourd filled with blood.
"I am going to take it apart and make him into a glorious feast, nothing is more ancient than The Unseen in the east, I am certain of it, even the dragons won't be able to compare with the deliciousness and nourishment its flesh will bring to us, back then, we missed our occasion to them parts of the great beast that awoke in the Central Plains, we never got a chance to go hunt further into the sea, but we will get The Unseen" the fact that it yet lived, and that nothing had been gone against this creature was solely because not enough was known, it was the fear of the unknown that had prevented the warlord from barging into this cave turning the dreaded monster into soup.
The Unseen was most definitely ancient, it had easily slaughtered an entire tribe and possessed remarkable instincts to remain undetected by other people until now.
"V- Very well, should I gather our finest warriors for this expedition?" Gartran wanted to say something, but stopped himself, knowing that there was no reasoning his queen, she had decreed that The Unseen had to die, and would be made into a feast, Gartran could only work to make this a reality.
"No need, you and I shall take care of it" grabbing her cleaver, stretching both arms, pulling onto the muscles of her back.
"And we shall do it right now" bringing the weapon into her shoulder, Derdlim Maulerd was not going to wait around for whatever plan the undeads had in stock for the tribe, remaining passive and only acting when something happened was not the style of the feasters.
Gartran grabbed his own cleaver and followed after his lord, the two of them making a bee-line for the known entrance to their prey's cave, it was a certain distance away however, and their sudden movement attracted the attention of a black-feathered lurker.
Moving parallel to the duo, only standing higher up, carefully stepping and jumping from one place to another, never doing as much as disturbing a single pebble standing just upon the edge.
This bird was without its flock, taking on a solitary assignment, listening in on whatever conversation was occurring further down, slowly but surely, the feathered prowler was moving down the jagged and rugged slope, getting closer and closer to the duo.
This bird had first thought to be deviating from its mission by tailing them, but quickly changed its mind.
The two, and the corvid were all seeking the same thing.
