Players Invade Cyberpunk Chapter 168

In the narrow, long tunnel, a .50 caliber heavy machine gun mounted halfway is continuously spitting fire, the dense rain of bullets causing stone fragments to scatter, each shot leaving a hole as big as a bowl on the walls.

Amidst the firelight, the crazed smiling face of the Night Wanderer gunman is vaguely visible.

This is a branch of the main tunnel, the walls not even poured with concrete, merely supported by some composite panels and scaffolding.

Branches like these are everywhere in the main tunnel, and even extracting information from the brains of nine Night Wanderers couldn’t cover the entire Stone Ridge Mountain tunnel.

It’s not just the players and Lin Miao; probably even the vast majority of Night Wanderers couldn’t remember how many there are.

Unknown how long, unknown how deep, and unknown what is stored in each tunnel—it’s just a rough idea in mind. With so many messy accounts piled together, who can really sort it out.

To avoid being outflanked from behind, the tactical plan is to advance slowly, leaving one or two squads in the main tunnel whenever encountering a branch, while another team goes to search the branch path, continuing forward only once it’s cleared.

For this, Lin Miao and the players are already prepared for a day’s prolonged battle.

Wildman peeked and was immediately suppressed back by the Night Wanderers, nearly getting scratched by flying shrapnel if not for the helmet.

Clearly, the opponent’s prosthetic eyes have night vision or infrared functions, with a loader and several Night Wanderers nearby.

"I can’t hold this caliber for long, count one, two, three, I’ll go out to draw fire, you blast it!"

"Don’t worry, okay." Potato patted the rocket launcher in his hands, "Your brother Huang is reliable as hell, definitely a one-shot kill."

His words made Wildman a bit nervous, but what else could he do?

The Night Wanderers didn’t receive any fire suppression military training either; seeing someone come out, they immediately pulled the trigger, bullets as thick as fingers crashed onto the shield, sparking large amounts of firelight and stray bullets. Each hit made Wildman feel the shield tremble, and if not for the exoskeleton hydraulic arms, both his arm bones might have shattered.

He gritted his teeth and roared,

Shui Yue and Potato immediately rolled out from the bend, half-kneeling on the ground, shouldering the rocket launcher, and pressed the launch trigger after a brief aim.

The gunman saw someone jump out from behind that damn shield and sensed something was wrong, but before he could turn the machine gun, the opponent had already fired first.

Two rockets, after a short acceleration, broke through 300m/s in a blink of an eye. One rocket crashed into the sandbag bunker in front of the gunman, the other hit the wall beside him.

The blinding flash of fire illuminated the tunnel.

The sandbag bunker effectively blocked bullets, but against the shaped charge of the rocket, it was useless. Under the boosted Monroe effect, the metal jet effortlessly pierced the bunker, and the gunman and the nearby loader were blasted away, charred all over, the machine gun blown askew.

The nearby Night Wanderers suffered heavy casualties, many fell to the ground, their chests rising and falling slowly, struggling to breathe — clearly injured by the shockwave, or with broken limbs.

The Wildman squad immediately took the opportunity to press forward, two machine guns wildly spraying ammunition, venting all the suppressed anger, the few Night Wanderers with remaining combat power were promptly shot down by the advancing assault leader and Brother Ni.

"Haha! All of you die for me!"

In this operation, each squad earns 200 points per regular infantry, 500 for elites, and 1000 if there’s a BOSS. Completing different mission objectives also offers bonus points.

Behind this fire point is a larger space with numerous containers, seemingly used for storage. With all lights out, it’s completely dark.

Turning on the flashlight on the helmet, observing the complex terrain, Wildman quietly reminded,

"Be careful, there might be someone hiding in here, split into two teams, search from both sides."

Though knowing such dark terrains in the tunnels were inevitable, Lin Miao couldn’t prepare flares in time, relying only on tactical flashlights for illumination. Luckily, many players’ prosthetic eyes, even the basic models, still had night vision functions, just with varying effectiveness. Lin Miao also equipped exoskeletons with night vision, which were quite expensive, for sure would have cost extra if sold externally.

The five of them cautiously advanced under the light of their respective tactical flashlights, followed by a Hornet drone behind.

The terrain here was narrow, surrounded by containers and crates, making machine guns and rocket launchers unsuitable. Apart from Wildman still holding a shield, the other five switched to pistols or shotguns. The basic firearms use chip had taught the players how to choose firearms according to different situations.

This item, even in its original form, many gangs wanted it, but it was priceless, not to mention the system intelligence had enhanced its effect by more than one level.

The sound of exoskeleton movement is much louder than walking, so Wildman’s movements were slow. He hadn’t practiced stealth, spending all his time on combat and firearms, trying to minimize his noise.

Following behind Wildman, Brother Ni suddenly pulled the two advancing people, and after a brief silence, gestured that someone was behind the container ahead.
