Players Invade Cyberpunk Chapter 185

There’s actually still someone alive?

Big-Eared Tutu and Jianxue Nameless exchanged a glance, their faces showing a knowing smile.

Tutu cleared his throat and said with a feigned tone, "Jianxue, remember what the Boss told us before, about what to do if we catch someone alive?"

Jianxue: "Of course I remember. Boss said, these Night Wanderers, they’re all bastards, parasites from birth. If you catch one, throw them into the fire, burn them to ashes with the dead~~"

The two of them struck a strange pose, one with hands on hips leaning back, the other leaning forward, stepping towards the fridge.

Like a pair of Hua brothers performing magic tricks.

Tutu: "I think it’s too wasteful~ I’ve long heard of cyberpsychosis, but unfortunately never seen it in person."

Jianxue: "Didn’t you just say you wanted to explore low-cost compatible prosthetics? Maybe we’ll find a test subject soon. You can install cheap prosthetics and create cyberpsychosis for a spectacle. You say isn’t it thrilling?"

Tutu: "Totally! Anyway, these Night Wanderers are parasites among parasites, broke the hearts of Wildman and his gang, no one cares if they die, they’ll end up in the recycling anyway. Might as well let me make some use of them."

Jianxue: "Before they hit the recycling, I can use them as moving targets for my rocket launcher, test the stability of my newly adjusted tail wing, and see how your prosthetic combo works. One shot shouldn’t kill them, right~~"

Listening to their conversation, which made him shiver, Mayer, who was eavesdropping by the fridge door, was scared out of his wits and accidentally pushed the fridge door open, tumbling out.

Mayer had stayed inside the house, so he was lucky to survive. To avoid the heat and the players, he stuffed himself into the fridge, praying for a chance to escape, but ended up getting discovered.

Panic-stricken, he was bewildered at first. When he looked up, he was met with the sight of two men sneering sinisterly, almost making him wet himself.

"Don’t kill me! I’m useful, I have money!"

Lin Miao looked at Mayer, who was brought in by the two, surprised that someone hadn’t fled yet, and judging by his status among the Night Wanderers, he wasn’t insignificant.

Mayer knelt on the ground, head half-raised. He’d never seen the face of the person in front of him in his database, but assumed it was their leader, and said.

"Yes, I handle the finances and logistics for the smuggling route. If you let me go, I’ll give you the Night Wanderers’ vault password!"

"Also the accounts! I have the list of those who did smuggling business with the Night Wanderers. Let me go, and these are yours."

The Night Wanderers were once indispensable in Night City’s smuggling ecosystem, with countless business associates, rivaling any gang in Night City at their peak.

But now, their role in the ecosystem has been replaced by Kurt Hansen, who even expanded operations internationally, surpassing the Night Wanderers who can only roam the gaps between the Free States, Texas Republic, and the United States.

The Night Wanderers thus declined to their current sorry state.

Lin Miao glanced at the players with the corner of his eye.

Most of them seemed interested, but some looked like they wanted to skin Mayer alive.

Lin Miao had heard from Lucy about what happened to Wildman. She was surprised that such tough guys, who could eat Night Wanderers alive, were moved by a random person committing suicide.

Although she was angry too, it wasn’t to the extent the players reached, because such things practically happened daily in Night City. The survival of an ordinary person was hardly significant.

Such a sympathetic company dog, it was probably the first time she’d seen this; these humanoids were more like living people.

As for the vault Mayer mentioned, the players had already found it. The place wasn’t hidden, and even many Night Wanderers knew it’s used to store high-grade smuggled goods and money.

Lin Miao placed a tablet in front of Mayer, displaying the scene at the vault door, where Mitch and others were trying to unlock it.

"But if I kill you, I’ll get the stuff anyway."

Mayer was apparently quite confident about this matter.

"To prevent hacking, we built the vault separately in a tunnel with high-strength concrete, surrounded by a steel cage, and uses a physical lock. It requires three keys inserted simultaneously - the leader, myself, and the tunnel manager - before the door can be opened with a code. We only open it once a month to check the inventory."

Lin Miao nodded. He had already seen this with Lucy when discovering the door; he knew all the things Mayer explained.

Mitch said this thing was as solid as the bank vault doors they’d seen in the city ruins.

The 540mm thick alloy door could put most cutting tools to shame, and the vault was built into the mountain, drilling would make you cry.

Opening it by force wasn’t impossible. Lin Miao could use a plasma launcher or large-caliber tungsten core armor-piercing shells to blast it open.

But after blasting it open, how much stuff inside would remain was quite uncertain.

"Letting me go, I’ll not just tell you how to open it, but my account in Huang Shan Bank is yours too, with tens of thousands in it!"

Lin Miao looked at him, and Mayer looked back at Lin Miao,
