Players Invade Cyberpunk Chapter 368

"This place is damn remote."

Following the vagrant’s directions, three players and A2, along with the reporter, headed into the sewer, leaving B2 at the entrance to stand guard.

Few players come to explore in the Watson District, and they know nothing about the conditions in the sewer area.

So, their buddies also rented a bumblebee drone, to map the area and earn some extra cash, as the Super Earth finances are extremely tight now.

As for the mission bounty, they couldn’t add any more. Lewis had already exhausted all his years of savings to scrape together fifteen thousand.

Anyone who knew a bit of the inside story dared not take it on, and even if someone foolishly had ideas, they were quickly warned off.

Though they all say they work for the corporation doggedly, when it’s truly a matter of life and death, they run faster than anyone else.

Everyone is just trying to earn a living, bragging for show; only those foolhardy young people take it seriously.

"How did you find this place? Even after falling, you could find your way back?"

The Truth Department suspiciously looked at the vagrant leading the way ahead; though he was limp, he hadn’t stopped all the way.

"I’ve... I’ve lived around here for quite some time, so I’m familiar." The vagrant pointed at the white marks scratched on the wall with a stone, "Plus, I have a habit of making marks, just a touch and I know."

The Truth Department nodded and didn’t ask further.

Players were still convenient; after sweeping the map, even without knowing the way, they had direction navigation.

As for the vagrant’s motives, the Truth Department didn’t doubt him; who doesn’t have some compassion?

Seeing so many dead, feeling touched is normal, let alone Lewis offered him a reward of 500 euros for guiding the way.

Furthermore, Lewis had just received a warning call from an unknown caller, which he hung up in front of everyone.

The group had quite a heroic feeling, like warriors headed to a bitter end, never to return.

The Publicity Department felt the sewer was gloomy and uncomfortable, "How about we pass a willpower check, just in case we encounter something."

He was chilled from listening to the vagrant’s ghost stories earlier.

Truth Department: "Do your check, you’re not doing a tabletop RPG!"

Publicity Department: "What? Aren’t we doing a tabletop RPG?"

Then the vagrant leading the way suddenly turned back, "We’re almost there ahead, keep quiet, if they find us, we’re dead."

After shutting up, the dark and silent sewer only had the sound of their feet stepping on the damp water surface, eerily quiet.

If it weren’t for the basic night vision function of their prosthetic eyes, they wouldn’t even see the path.

Finally, after A2 fixed the rope to a wall and the group slid down a long slope holding onto it, they heard the sound of a whirring exhaust fan at a corner.

That should be the construction site the vagrant mentioned.

The entrance to the construction site was at an incline on the wall, surrounded by collapsed and shattered brick and cement.

Judging by the looks of it, the wall should have been sealed off, but being affected by the damp and low temperature weakened its strength, and due to other reasons a hole formed, discovered by the passing vagrant.

As they crawled through the opening, they found signs of unfinished work everywhere, bricks, steel bars scattered, cement bags piled on the side were hardened into lumps, apparently they’d been there for a while.

However, none of the players had any experience in civil engineering, couldn’t tell what room this should belong to.

And that vagrant, had already dared not go forward.

"The place I mentioned is ahead, you guys go see for yourselves, I’m leaving." Newest update provided by novel·fıre·net

The vagrant waved his hands, body slightly trembling, speaking he had already climbed over the wall to escape, evidently scared badly last time.

Lewis wanted to stop him but was pulled back by the Truth Department.

"Let him go, we already know the way, he hasn’t been to the next place, staying wouldn’t help."

Just listening to the vagrant’s talk revealed how dangerous this place was, even with an extra NPC, they might not be able to protect him.

Lewis said nothing more, just nodded.

Only when the group saw the pit of corpses the vagrant mentioned, they were shocked beyond words, Lewis even directly leaned against the wall to vomit.

The bodies piled up like a mountain in the foundation, utterly full.

The corpses were in various states of death; some with broken limbs, disemboweled, decapitated, or naked, or dressed splendidly...

Blood from the topmost body flowed down along the corpse mountain, until absorbed within the bodies.

Under the dim overhead lights, the Truth Department keenly noticed the bizarre arrangement of the corpses.

The construction workers’ bodies were at the very bottom, already completely decayed into skeletons, even prosthetic limbs crushed beneath.

The higher up, the more intact and fresh the bodies; this means corpses continuously were sent here...

The Truth Department roughly estimated, shockingly realizing there were actually thousands of bodies here, most were very young boys and girls...

He swallowed hard, he’d only seen such scenes in books before, usually involving city slaughters or burying alive.

Perhaps only extreme deep-sea or horror cruise scenarios could compare.

As for whether the corpses had been gnawed by anyone, they dared not look...

Even they dared not look...

Where did the vagrant get the nerve to look?

Also, how did he know those were human gnaw marks?
