Pokemon: A Gym Leader's Rise(SI) Chapter 110

The Indigo League stadium erupted into a cacophony of cheers as the dust settled from Nyx's decisive Dark Pulse.

The announcer leapt to his feet, his mustache quivering with excitement, voice booming over the speakers like a thunderstorm unleashed. "Ladies and gentlemen, trainers and dreamers—hold onto your Poké Balls, because we have our winner! After a finals showdown that'll go down in history—psychic aura versus ghost aura, sibling versus sibling—Gladion Vortex has claimed victory! He's the new Junior Champion of the Kanto League, folks! A trailblazer, a powerhouse, a legend in the making—give it up for GLADION VORTEX!"

The crowd exploded, a tidal wave of applause crashing through the stands. Flags waved, kids jumped, and fans chanted, "Glad-ion! Glad-ion!" Fireworks popped overhead, painting the sky in bursts of gold and red as the jumbotron replayed Nyx's final blow, Gengar tumbling in glorious defeat.

Nyx strutted forward, her rings pulsing with smug satisfaction, tail swishing like she owned the world. [Well, well, look at me—champion material!] she purred, her voice dripping with sass.

[Told you I'd mop the floor with that gas-bag Gengar. What's he gonna do now, haunt my shadow? Pfft—he'd trip over his own tongue!] She flicked an ear, smirking at an imaginary foe.

[Bow down, peasants—I'm the queen of this ring!]

'I am pretty sure Lee did the most of work but whatever we won.' Gladion chuckled, recalling her as he stepped off the field, only to be ambushed by Gwen.

She slumped beside him, her face a mask of despair—eyes wide, lips quivering, hands clasped in mock sorrow. "Oh, Glady," she wailed, fake tears glistening as she clutched his arm.

"You 'won', and I'm so proud… but also so 'devastated'! Second place is nothing without that Beldum—Grandpa's room feels so empty without it! Can't you just… give it to me? Pretty please, for your poor, heartbroken sis?" She fluttered her lashes, crocodile tears spilling dramatically.

Gladion rolled his eyes, unfazed—he'd seen this act since they were three. "Nice try, gremlin," he said, peeling her off like a clingy Burmy. "Those fake tears stopped working when you tried to guilt me out of my Rare Candy stash. Beldum's mine—you can sob into your second-place Torchic or whatever you are going to chose instead!"

Gwen dropped the act, scowling. "You're heartless! I poured my soul into this, and you're hoarding the prize like some greedy Dragonite! I bet Beldum'd like me better—I'd teach it to dance!"

"Dance?" Gladion snorted. "You'd trip over its legs and blame me. Stick to haunting—Beldum's staying with the champ!" He dodged as she swatted at him, their bickering continued as they headed toward the closing ceremony.

Somewhere in the crowd Erza wanted to strangle them for bickering in front of the whole region.

The stadium lights dimmed, a spotlight igniting the central platform as the closing ceremony began. The announcer's voice thundered again, brimming with reverence. "And now, presenting the awards—please welcome the esteemed Charles Goodshow, President of the League Competition Committee! A legend in his own right, overseeing battles across regions with wisdom —give him a roaring Kanto welcome!"

Charles Goodshow waddled onto the stage, his white beard bouncing, a jolly grin splitting his face. The crowd cheered as he waved, his rotund figure clad in a crisp suit adorned with Pokémon pins. He raised a hand, silencing the roar, and launched into his speech, his voice warm but commanding.

"Young trainers of Kanto—whether you're here in the stands or watching from home—this is your moment! Today, we've seen courage, creativity, and bonds that defy the odds. Pokémon battles aren't just about strength—they're about heart, about growing with your partners through every triumph and stumble. To every kid dreaming of the League: train hard, laugh often, and never stop exploring. The world's full of wonders—go catch 'em!" He chuckled, adding, "And maybe don't cry too hard when your sibling beats you—it builds character!"

The crowd laughed, Gwen pouting exaggeratedly as Gladion smirked beside her.

The announcer took over, passion igniting his words. "Time for the awards, folks! Third place goes to the psychic prodigy, Sabrina! After a fierce match for the third spot, she's earned 5 million Pokédollars, a trove of evolutionary stones, TMs, and the bronze medal—let's hear it!"

Sabrina stepped up, her expression cool as Charles handed her the prizes. She nodded curtly, her Alakazam levitating the stones with a smug hum. The crowd clapped, some whispering about her psychic tricks.

"Second place—to Gwen Vortex!" the announcer roared. "She fought tooth and nail, haunting her way to the finals! She's walking away with 10 million Pokédollars, the silver medal, and her pick of a Hoenn starter—Torchic, folks!" Follow current novels on novel·fire·net

Gwen trudged forward, still sulking, her pout deepening as Charles handed her the Poké Ball and medal. "Torchic's cute, I guess," she muttered, eyeing Gladion. "Better than nothing, you Beldum-hoarding jerk." The crowd chuckled as she pocketed her rewards, vowing silently to outshine him next time.

"And the champion—Gladion Vortex!" the announcer bellowed, voice shaking the stadium. "The Junior Champion of Kanto! He's claimed 20 million Pokédollars, the gold trophy, and the grand prize—a Beldum! Let's make some noise for the king of the ring!"

The crowd went berserk, fireworks bursting anew as Gladion strode up, grinning wide. Charles handed him the Poké Ball, the gleaming trophy, and a hefty sack of cash. "Well earned, lad," Charles said, clapping his shoulder. Gladion nodded, releasing his team—minus Colossus, still shy in his Pupitar shell—for the spotlight.

Hydros splashed onto the stage, cannons flexing. [Check me out, world—I'm a champ's champ!] He posed for the cameras, spraying water at a lens. [Zoom in on the cannons—pure art!]

Mystique slithered up, eyeing the gold trophy with a gleam. [Oh, darling, it's almost as shiny as me!] She coiled around it, admiring her reflection. [Perfect match—immortal beauty meets immortal victory!] She flicked her tail, knocking a camera aside when it zoomed too close. [Not the angle, peasant—profile shot only!]

Guy burst out, flexing all four arms. [YOUTH TRIUMPHS!] he roared, striking poses like a bodybuilder. [Cameras, feel the spirit—capture my biceps in 4K!] He grinned, winking at a lens. [For the fans—youth never fades!]

Lee, Annihilape, stomped forward, fists glowing faintly. [What's this shiny junk? Trophy? Bah—punch it!] He swung playfully, stopping short as Gladion yelped, "No!" Lee grumbled, [Fine—smile for the weaklings, then.] He bared his teeth, scaring a cameraman who stumbled back.

Nyx sauntered in last, rings pulsing. [Bow to your queen, mortals!] she purred, hopping atop the trophy. [Gengar's licking his wounds, and I'm the star—zoom in on the glow, paparazzi!] She smirked.

Gladion laughed, corralling them for the team photo. "Say 'champions'!" he called. The photographer snapped—Hydros mid-splash, Mystique posing, Guy flexing, Lee growling, Nyx smirking, Zeus and Arsenal having a stare off—Gladion in the center, trophy high. The big screen flashed the image, the crowd roaring its approval.

The announcer wrapped up with some final words "A finals for the ages—Gladion's the champ, Gwen's the runner-up, Sabrina's third! Kanto's future shines bright! Stay tuned for the winner press conference."
