Pokemon: A Gym Leader's Rise(SI) Chapter 166

Colossus's maw glowed, a Hyper Beam charging with destructive energy aimed at the heart of the massive Hurricane forming from four Gyarados at the back.

"Fire!" Gladion shouted, his voice cutting through the roars. Colossus unleashed the beam, a blinding lance of pure destruction that tore through the air, striking the Hurricane's core.

The vortex exploded outward, winds scattering chaotically, some gusts racing toward the town. "Brace for impact!" Gladion yelled as trainers ducked behind barriers, gripping anything solid. Thɪs chapter is updatᴇd by noᴠelfire.net

The Hyper Beam's aftermath was worse—its force churned the sea, sending massive waves surging toward the shore. Gladion's eyes widened, locking onto the new threat.

'Not good.' "Ultron!" he barked, glancing at his Metagross, hovering nearby, its steel body gleaming. "You and I are stopping those waves with Psychic!"

Their eyes glowed in unison, Gladion's psychic aura merging with Ultron's, a telepathic bond of perfect sync. He raised his hands, grunting with effort, his mind straining as he seized the towering waves with psychic force. "Push them aside!" he growled, waving his hands left and right, redirecting the water to the sides of the coast. Ultron mirrored him, its red eyes blazing, dispersing another wave.

Gladion's nose stung, blood trickling down, his vision blurring from the strain. 'Keep it together,' he thought, gritting his teeth.

'My resorts, my restaurants are all going to det destroyed if I let that wave collide with the shore. I swear after all of this, I am going to start an Insurance firm.'

Marshal Torres rushed to his side, his scar twitching with worry. "Gym Leader! You're bleeding!" Gladion waved him off, wiping his nose with his sleeve.

"I'm fine. Focus on the fight." His psychic aura steadied, his gaze shifting to the sky. "Zeus, Eldergreen, go!" he shouted.

Zeus, his Electivire, perched on Eldergreen the Tropius, took flight, the leafy dinosaur's wings beating hard. "Hit 'em hard!" Gladion ordered. Eldergreen roared, unleashing a Leaf Storm, razor-sharp leaves slicing through the air, cutting into the Gyarados' scales.

Zeus followed with a Thunder, a massive bolt of electricity arcing from the sky, amplified by the conductive sea. The attack struck three Gyarados, their roars turning to pained shrieks as two collapsed, charred and lifeless, sinking into the waves.

'That's my team,' Gladion thought, his smirk fierce. 'Type advantage for the win.'

The crowd erupted in cheers, trainers' auras flaring with hope. "That's Gladion Vortex!" a navy soldier shouted, pumping his fist.

"We are safe!" Other trainers with aerial Pokémon joined the fray—Pidgeots, Fearows, and Torres's Golbat, which darted through the sky, its Air Slash slicing a Gyarados's fin, drawing blood.

Whenever a Gyarados charged a Hyper Beam, glowing orbs forming in their maws, a flyer swooped in, disrupting with Gust or Wing Attack.

"Keep them pinned!" Gladion yelled, his psychic senses tracking every move. 'We're wearing them down.'

He glanced at Colossus, whose aura pulsed with readiness, another Hyper Beam charging. 'Time to end this.'

"Colossus, charge it and fire—full power!" he ordered. "Everyone, call back Pokémon near the Gyarados!" Trainers scrambled, recalling their closer Pokémon—Golduck, Kingler—while Hydros and Mystique, Gladion's Blastoise and Milotic, held the shore, their Hydro Pumps blasting back waves.

Colossus roared, the ground trembling as it unleashed a second Hyper Beam, a beam of pure annihilation aimed at the Gyarados cluster. The explosion was deafening, a blinding flash that shook the coast.

When the smoke cleared, half the Gyarados—nine of them—lay charred, their massive bodies sinking, while the rest thrashed, scales scorched, movements sluggish.

'Got 'em,' Gladion thought, his chest heaving.

The crowd roared, chanting, "Gym Leader Gladion! Moonwood Town! Gym Leader Gladion! Moonwood Town!"

Trainers hugged their Pokémon, some crying with relief, others laughing.

Torres clapped Gladion's shoulder, his voice gruff. "You saved us, kid. That was unreal." Gladion nodded, wiping more blood from his nose, his smirk tired but proud.

"Not done yet. Those nine left won't quit." He turned to his team, their auras still strong. "Hydros, Mystique, keep the shore secure. Zeus, Eldergreen, stay on them from above. Ultron, reinforce the barriers."

His Pokémon nodded, moving into position, while Gladion's scanned the remaining Gyarados. 'We finish this clean without any casualties. This thing is going on my insta post after all. I can't have a single casuality to have a bigger impact.'

A civilian trainer, a girl with a Pidgeotto, ran up, eyes wide. "Gym leader, how'd you know about the whirlpools? The Hurricanes? It's like you saw the future!"

Gladion's smirk twitched, his psychic aura hiding the strain of Future Sight. "Just a good guess," he said, dodging the truth.

'Can't tell 'em I'm breaking every psychic law in the book.' Torres overheard, his scar twitching with suspicion. "Guesses like that don't save towns. You're something else, kid." Gladion shrugged, his voice casual.

"Just doing my job, Marshal. Let's wrap this up."

'This is my home,' Gladion thought, his psychic aura warm with resolve. 'I was born here, raised here, trained my first Pokémon here. Grandpa Maren's legacy, Dad's lab, Mom's fire—it's all here. No Gyarados is taking that away.'

He clenched his fists, his nose still bleeding, but his focus razor-sharp. "Colossus, ready for another?" The Tyranitar growled, claws flexing. [Always]

Gladion's smirk widened. "Good. Let's send these snakes back to the deep."

"Everyone!" he shouted, his voice carrying over the cheers. "We've got nine left. Hit them with everything—Electric, Grass, whatever you've got! No mercy!"

Trainers roared, their Pokémon charging forward. Zeus and Eldergreen dove again, Thunder and Leaf Storm raining down, while Hydros and Mystique countered another Hydro Pump.

Ultron's barriers held firm, deflecting a stray Hyper Beam.

Gladion breath a sigh of relief when he saw the last of Gyarados die.
