Charmeleon was doing good. Its fire-type attacks were very helpful but since it was not a rare ranked Pokemon Venusaur was tanking those attacks. Plus with Venusaur's hidden ability 'Chlorophyll' which could lessen the damage of fire-type moves, the fire attacks of Charmeleon were not so effective.
Venusaur was using 'Bullet seed' and 'Sludge bomb'. There were also trying to use 'Leech seed' which would confirm the battle in their favor. Charmeleon and Nidorino were dogging the attack while using their own. The 'Leech seed' didn't land but some of the 'Bullet seed' and 'Sludge bomb' did.
Nidorino was the tank and took all the hits. Charmeleon was already losing its Hp by using 'Solar power'. Axel knew that it would be out of battle if any of those attacks hit.
'Horn attack', 'Thunder shock', and 'Quick attack' landed on both of them after some time. Nidorino had good defense. That didn't mean that its offensive powers could be ignored. Meanwhile, the use of 'Solar power' boosted Charmeleon's stats and the use of moves like 'Flamethrower' and 'Fire Pledge' did and good chuck of damage to the 2 Venusaurs. 'Sunny day' also boosted fire-type attacks so the added bonus was a plus to the whole team.
Axel was a little relieved that he was going to win the battle and return safely. None of Exeggutor's moves were making any impact on Shedinja as it didn't know of Shedinja's specialty. Nidorino and Charmeleon would win the battle if it were to go at the same pace.
But the tables turned when Axel heard the voice again.
"Focus on Shedinja, NOW!!", said the female voice.
Axel's head automatically turned after listening to it. Axel then saw Exeggutor use some moves which he could not identify. But the color of that move was dark.
The course of the event was so fast that Axel could only say two words to Shedinja.
The move hit Shedinja and it was flown straight to the ground. The move was 'thief'. It was a dark type move and supper effective against Shedinja. 'Thief' was not a popular move so Axel assumed that Exeggutor didn't have it but he was wrong. Axel called off Shedinja in his Pokeball.
Nidorino was the MVP of this battle. Taking hits and practically dealing with 2 Venusaur who were at rare rank. But the presence of Shedinja was what made Axel confident. It was not called 'the boss' by his Pokemon team for nothing. But now with Shedinja out of the battle, Axel had to make a big decision and it had to be fast.
"Nidorino, use a full powered 'Horn Drill' on Exeggutor"
Thankfully, since Exeggutor was already injured heavily the move connected and it fainted on the spot. Axel threw the Pokeball and caught it. He was not going to waste a fully evolved elemental-ranked Pokemon in the wild. He would sell it. A compensation for his mental trauma. With Exeggutor out of the battle, Axel breathed a sigh of relief.
The 2 Venusaur didn't have the bulky Nidorino to defend the attack and now could focus on Charmeleon. So, they did something that turned the table again. Both of them used 'Solar beam' at the same time toward Charmeleon.
Nidorino, out of instinct, moved towards Charmeleon to defend it. Both 'Solar beam' hit Nidorino on its stomach and Nidorino fainted on the spot.
Those 2 'Solar beam' didn't need to recharge to attack as Axel stupidly told Charmeleon to use 'Sunny day' before. Axel called out Nidorino. He could have used Gogoat to heal Nidorino before it had taken much damage but it was impossible now.
Now, 2 injured Venusaur and 1 Charmeleon with almost zero Hp were left on the battlefield. This was an intense battle for Charmeleon. It had fought for rivalry, its ego, and its arrogance but never for survival. It looked towards its master and could feel that its master was also scared. That made it scared too. But slowly, that feeling of hopelessness and fear started to turn towards anger. Anger cause it was so weak. Anger cause it had to see its companion fall in battle. Anger cause it could not do anything.
"Char.. CHARMELEONNNNN", it roared.
It had felt fear for the first time and that feeling made it scared. But why was it feeling scared? It was the most powerful and perfect Pokemon in existence. These mindless creatures were playing with its feelings and it didn't like it one bit. Its eyes started to turn red with anger.
Charmeleon has activated its ability 'Blaze']
