Pokémon: Chronicles of Freedom Chapter 581

Of course, in addition to the five Pokémon currently in the main team, Cain also assigned training tasks to the Pokémon he carried close to his chest: Floette.

Even if it was just for their time on this island, being the only support healer-type Pokémon in the team, her importance to the group was undeniable.

Cain didn't want Floette to fail at a critical moment.

For this reason, he had given her as much training as possible, especially focusing on the move Grassy Terrain.

Truth be told, while Floette's potential was relatively low compared to Cain's other Pokémon, if he had had a Pokémon like her back on Trial Island, his life would have been much easier.

Additionally, Floette having lower potential didn't mean her utility was small.

For support moves like Grassy Terrain, Floette was surprisingly effective, even without extensive training in such moves.

Whenever Cain watched Floette train moves like Grassy Terrain, he couldn't help but nod in approval, thinking he had found a true treasure.

After assigning training tasks to his main battle Pokémon, the five younger ones also had to participate in training.

However, their focus was currently on physical development. Learning to master their bodies was more effective than move training at this stage and would give them a solid foundation for the future.

While Cain was busy training his Pokémon, an unexpected figure appeared by his side.

Cain was somewhat surprised by Altaria's appearance.

Altaria let out a gentle melody and observed the training Pokémon, nodding in approval.

It seemed as if she was saying the Pokémon were training well and growing considerably.

Cain hesitated for a moment but decided to activate his telepathy and connect his mind with Altaria's.

"Hello, Altaria, my name is Cain. I'm a Pokémon trainer," Cain said, his eyes glowing blue.

By now, Cain had mastered the use of telepathy with ease.

Altaria looked at him in surprise, clearly not expecting the voice in her mind to come from the human before her.

"It's me speaking. This is telepathy, a special way to use psychic powers," Cain explained.

"Hello, Cain," Altaria's voice soon echoed in Cain's mind.

Altaria's voice was particularly clear, but it didn't sound like that of a young woman—more like... a mature one?

It made sense, given she was the mother of two Swablu.

Her voice matched her role perfectly.

Cain smiled and nodded, saying, "Is something wrong? Is there anything I can help you with?"

Altaria seemed hesitant. Cain waited patiently, saying nothing.

"You... are you from somewhere outside this place?" Altaria took a deep breath before finally speaking.

When Cain heard Altaria's question, his pupils contracted, and his expression stiffened.

Outside Mythical Island?

Or beyond Mythical Island's illusory barrier?

Cain hadn't responded yet, but Altaria already got the answer she sought just by observing Cain's expression. With a melancholic sigh, she said, "I knew it—you really are from the outside."

"Is the outside world big?"

Altaria's eyes shone with longing and hope.

Nodding, Cain sat on the ground, gazing at the stars in the sky.

It had to be said—Mew's creation of Mythical Island's barrier was exceptionally clever. From inside, you couldn't see what lay beyond, but the starry sky was clearly visible.

"How did you know this place isn't the outside world?" Cain asked after some thought.

"Once, before my two children were born, I flew beyond this island to see what lay beyond. But... every time I flew a certain distance, a kind of maze would appear, and in the end, I would always return to this island," Altaria explained.

Altaria, practically invincible on Mythical Island, faced no daily life pressures.

There were other Pokémon stronger than her on Mythical Island, but none could prevent her from escaping.

"Then, how do you know the outside world exists?" Cain asked again.

Altaria had shown little surprise when she first saw Cain and his Pokémon—could it be because she already knew about the outside world?

Altaria's expression shifted to one of nostalgia. After a moment of silence, she replied, "The father of my two children is from the outside world..."

Cain was stunned by the response.

So, there had already been Pokémon from the outside that entered?

"And where is he now?"

"He's gone... gone..."

"Gone? He passed through the barrier and left?"

Though Cain was surprised that the father of her children could cross the barrier, he wasn't too shocked, knowing the father's power.

Cain didn't know what to say. To cross Mew's barrier freely, that Pokémon must have been at least elite level, and not just any elite-level Pokémon could achieve such a feat.

A Flying-type Pokémon above elite level?

Perhaps a legendary Pokémon?

If that were the case, the two Swablu probably had far greater potential than Cain had imagined.

"So... do you want to leave and see the world?"

Altaria's eyes sparkled with a long-repressed desire. From the day she learned of a larger world outside, she had yearned to explore it.

But after having her two children, that ambition had faded, forcing her to suppress it.

She still had to care for her little ones.

Thinking of them, Altaria hesitated again.

At that moment, Cain's mind began working rapidly. He had clearly noticed Altaria's longing for the outside world, but her responsibilities to her children kept her from acting on it.

Suddenly, Cain's soul of deception ignited.

This was a truly high-level Pokémon, with power nearing elite level, and equipped with powerful Dragon-type moves.

If he could convince her...

This wasn't deception!

Everything he was about to do was for her and her children's benefit.

"You already know—we come from the outside world, but we're just an advance group. Our mission is to investigate this island. Behind us is a group of far more powerful people waiting for our signal."

"In fact, even without our signal, they'll eventually force their way in. When they do, the Pokémon on this island will be attacked."

"Especially strong Pokémon like you—you'll be their primary target."

The more Cain spoke, the more intense the atmosphere around Altaria grew. When he mentioned that invaders would attack them, Altaria's aura, as a Dragon-type Pokémon, fully erupted.
