Pokémon: Chronicles of Freedom Chapter 673

After hesitating for a long time and seeing that Regice was about to attack again, Cain decided to intervene.

It wasn’t necessary to help in the battle; simply facilitating communication would suffice.

After all, Cain was trying to establish himself in the Hoenn region, and getting along with the big players in the Battle Frontier was very important.

He called out his Flygon and climbed onto its back to fly upward.

However, as soon as Flygon appeared, it began trembling upon sensing the pressure of the Pokémon in the sky.

Where was the pride of being a Dragon-type Pokémon?

Weren’t these just two legendary Pokémon? Weren’t they merely elite-level or even higher?

Was it really necessary to be this scared?

This is why Pokémon... need to be raised by their trainers.

Pokémon trained by others really weren’t reliable. Flygon still had a long way to go.

Cain didn’t even realize how scared he had been when he first saw Regirock.

Now, thanks to Noland’s Articuno maintaining control of the situation, Cain knew that as a member of the League, Noland wouldn’t attack him but rather protect him from Regice. That’s why he felt secure.

After stomping a couple of times on Flygon’s back, he finally got it to fly, albeit clumsily. Cain could feel Flygon’s rapid heartbeat as he rode on its back.

It was truly afraid. The last time it had been on Mythical Island, when its trainer was Ren, it had been attacked by Regirock and was knocked out immediately, without even a chance to fight back.

Who knows why, but when it woke up, it already had a new trainer, with no trace of its previous owner.

In the sky, atop a Charizard, there was a man wearing a red cap, a white sleeveless vest, and a firm expression on his face. It was Noland, the leader of the Battle Factory in the Battle Frontier.

Noland noticed Cain approaching.

His expression changed. Was there really someone reckless enough to get involved in this situation?

As a just person, Noland couldn’t ignore the situation with Regice and yelled at Cain:

"Get down! Stay away! This isn’t a place for you!"

He was genuinely angry. Did this person not realize the danger of the situation? Hadn’t they felt the shockwave from the fight?

And yet, they dared to fly upward?

As one of the leaders of the Battle Frontier, Noland, an experienced fighter, instantly recognized that Cain’s Flygon was relatively strong for its level. However, he also realized that in this case, that wouldn’t be enough to help.

"Mr. Noland! I’m Cain, Gym Leader of Leafy Town in Hoenn! I’m here to help!" Cain shouted.

He didn’t want Noland to misunderstand and have him attacked by Regice before he could explain the situation.

"Cain...?" Noland thought for a moment.

The name didn’t ring a bell. Even if he knew it, what could this person possibly do? This was far too dangerous.

Besides, Leafy Town? Where was that?

Noland, who rarely used the internet, had no idea who Cain was.

The title of Gym Leader helped a bit. So, Noland didn’t stop him but thought that, as a leader, Cain should take responsibility for his choice.

Flygon, after realizing it wasn’t being attacked by the powerful Pokémon, regained a bit of its confidence and flew more steadily.

Soon after, Cain arrived next to Noland.

"Mr. Noland, Regice doesn’t understand the language we’re using," Cain said upon arrival.

"I know, but what can we do? Do you speak any ancient languages?" Noland asked, not very hopeful.

He knew that as eternal Pokémon, the Regis couldn’t understand modern language. Even Brandon had to train his Regis for a long time to make them understand.

Brandon, as the heir to the title of Pharaoh, was fluent in ancient languages. Unfortunately, he wasn’t there at the moment.

If Brandon had been there, Noland would have been confident they could restrain Regice without causing too much environmental damage.

Cain shook his head without hesitation.

"Ancient language? No, no. Who would learn something like that these days?"

Seeing Cain deny it so naturally, Noland couldn’t help but think this was all a mess. Why had he come up here then? To be a burden?

"But I have another method," Cain replied.

Before he could explain, Regice lost its patience.

"Watch out!" Noland shouted as he and Articuno prepared for the attack.

But at that moment, Cain used his telepathic ability, connecting his mind to Regice’s.

Surprisingly, the telepathy worked. During his time on Mythical Island, when Regirock and Registeel were inactive, Cain hadn’t been able to contact them. But now, with Regice conscious, he could establish communication.

"Regice!" Cain shouted into the Pokémon’s mind.

The battle Noland feared didn’t happen. Regice, which had been mid-attack, abruptly stopped in midair. The lights in its eyes, forming a cross, flickered as it began processing the telepathy.

It was then that Noland noticed something unusual about Cain.

His eyes were glowing with a strange light, as if they contained something mysterious and unknown.

"Is he a psychic...?" Noland realized immediately.

Although psychics were rare in the world, Noland, due to his position, had met several.

Now he understood what Cain meant by "helping."

If they couldn’t communicate verbally, then they could do so through thoughts.

Although Cain managed to stop Regice, the Pokémon continued to move, albeit more slowly.

Cain then took a risk and visualized Mew in Regice’s mind, betting that this Regice was the same one that had disappeared from Mew’s ruins on Mythical Island.

Sure enough, upon seeing Mew in its mind, Regice stopped completely and began communicating with Cain.

What followed was a prolonged conversation, though telepathy greatly accelerated the process. For Noland, it all seemed to happen in a matter of minutes, though Cain and Regice exchanged many thoughts in that short time.
