Pokémon: Chronicles of Freedom Chapter 712

A legendary hero appeared in Mauville City.

Cain dressed completely in black with a tight-fitting suit and a black mask that covered him entirely.

He was accompanied by Honchkrow, Weavile, and Gengar, constantly moving between the old neighborhoods and the dark corners of Mauville City.

Cain started by confronting street gangsters and, following leads, tracked down the initial members of the Void organization, then the intermediate members, until he reached the divisions of the different districts in Mauville City.

Cain swept through these divisions, always leaving a powerful message: "I will represent justice and take you down!"

Although this phrase sounded a bit childish, its purpose was to divert attention and prevent the Void organization from identifying who was attacking them.

In this way, he intended for them to think the culprit was a League member with a strong sense of justice who disapproved of the Void organization’s actions but did not want to reveal their identity.

Cain’s plan worked very well. Since he started his actions, the Void organization did not suspect any other group. They simply assumed that another group in Mauville City planned to be the first to take them on.

The atmosphere among the city’s underground forces became tense due to Cain’s appearance. All the groups began to distrust each other, wondering which one would be the first to take action against the Void organization.

When they realized that the leaders of the Void organization were not responding to the attacks, the other underground forces, like sharks sensing blood, rushed in to completely tear the Void organization apart.

Cain’s window of action was limited to this period of confusion within the Void organization, while the other groups were still unsure. When the leaders finally acted, Cain would barely be able to pick up the scraps.

In just two days, Cain destroyed three underground divisions of the Void organization in Mauville City, accumulating a large number of resources.

However, for Cain, this was not enough, so he planned one big hit before disappearing.

On the other hand, the Void organization started to react. If Cain continued, they wouldn’t even need a new leader to be chosen—the internal divisions would have already exposed their greatest weakness, and the other underground groups would be even more ruthless than Cain.

For the first time since their leader’s disappearance, the higher-ups of the Void organization gathered to decide how to handle the "vigilante."

Among them was Kainan, Cain’s greatest enemy within the Void organization.

However, this meeting of leaders, all distrusting each other, was not going to solve anything. If they could cooperate, the organization wouldn’t be in this chaotic state. Every leader dreamed of taking the missing leader’s place and becoming a powerful figure in Mauville City.

The main reason for the proliferation of underground organizations in Mauville City was the lack of action from Wattson, the Mauville City Gym Leader.

Although Wattson was not only a Gym Leader but also an Elite Four member of the League, his personality was not suited for administrative positions. He was more suited for battling than for managing.

No agreement was reached in the meeting. Each leader protected their own interests, and some even hoped that Cain would attack more divisions of other leaders to weaken them.

The Void organization was already completely rotten, and Cain took advantage of this to act without restrictions.

Although the main source of income for the Void organization came from controlling the battle arenas in Mauville City, Cain accumulated resources by attacking smaller divisions.

For him, every attack added up.

The higher-ups of the Void organization, by not taking action, gave Cain more freedom to act.

During these two days, Cain led Honchkrow, Weavile, and Gengar in a relentless offensive, looting every division, regardless of its size.

At the same time, he took the opportunity to train his Pokémon, testing tactics he couldn’t use in regular practice. With the upcoming competition in Sinnoh, Cain knew he wouldn’t be able to train them in battle, so he used this time to refine his strategies and analyze what he had learned.

Thus, an unusual situation developed in Mauville City: someone powerful was attacking the Void organization’s divisions, but the higher-ups were not reacting. They weren’t even trying to recover the lost resources.

When Cain attacked a division, the other leaders blocked any attempt to evacuate the resources, hoping to weaken their rivals.

The chaos was so intense that Cain faced no significant resistance.

Even Cain was surprised at how easy it all was.

After reflecting, he realized that a group this rotten only continued to exist out of sheer inertia.

Cain stopped worrying about possible retaliation. By the time the organization stabilized its internal chaos, it would have already lost so much that it would barely be a second-rate group in Mauville City.

This demonstrated how important it was to have a strong and respected leader.

Organizations like Team Rocket thrived because Giovanni was a powerful leader, with strength and charisma.

Cain eliminated the Void organization from his list of concerns. Compared to enemies like Xenon, the Void organization was not a serious threat.

By the time the leaders of the Void organization finally tried to react, Cain had already escaped with great gains.

The most surprising thing was that it only took him three days, less than half the expected time.

The money came so easily that Cain felt like he had accomplished nothing.

He knew this opportunity would not come again. Finding a group as disastrous as the Void organization was nearly impossible.
