After giving Ash a blank look, Misty said, "Although he won the battle just now, he traded his Butterfree for the opponent's Raticate."
"A trade?" Kai was taken aback for a moment but, recalling the plot, shook his head in disbelief. "Isn't Butterfree your partner? Why would you trade it away? Besides, you're not aiming to collect Pokédex entries, and Raticate isn't exactly a rare Pokémon. There's no real reason to make this trade."
"But…" Ash was visibly conflicted, his tone tinged with regret. "Brock agreed to the trade earlier."
"He was too busy gawking at the opponent's female companion to think straight. You know how he gets when he sees a pretty girl," Misty added, exasperated by Brock's habitual behaviour.
Since the trade had already happened, Kai didn't press Ash to reverse it immediately. After all, everyone learns through their experiences.
If Ash regretted the trade, it would be something he'd have to come to terms with on his own.
"That's right," Misty said, taking another bite of her cake before turning to Kai. "By the way, where did you go just now?"
"Just wandering around." Eyeing the cake in Misty's hands, Kai smiled and teased, "You're still growing, but you shouldn't eat too many sweets, or you'll gain weight."
Misty glanced at Kai and, though reluctant, slowly put the cake down, remembering something. ( Hmm...Most beautiful girl in the world )
At that moment, a whistle blew. The St. Anne had been sailing for quite some time now, and outside the windows, there was nothing but endless blue water no land or other ships in sight.
Sitting next to Misty, Kai had barely taken a few bites of his food when a loud bang echoed through the hall.
All the doors slammed shut, and a group of ominous figures appeared seemingly out of nowhere.
The intruders wore black hats, masks covering their faces, and black uniforms emblazoned with a red 'R.'
Each carried a device with multiple nozzles strapped to their backs and began surrounding the passengers.
Before anyone could react, the hall lights dimmed, and two figures, one male and one female, in white uniforms leapt onto a stack of tables. Amid mocking laughter, a spotlight illuminated them.
"Prepare for trouble"
"To protect the world from devastation!"
"To unite all people within our nation!"
"To denounce the evils of truth and love!"
"To extend our reach to the stars above!"
"Team Rocket blasts off at the speed of light!"
"Surrender now, or prepare to fight!"
"Meowth, that's right!"
Team Rocket's infamous trio had made their dramatic entrance.
Jessie, her long magenta hair flowing, stood with her hands on her hips and declared, "Today, Team Rocket is taking all the Pokémon here!"
"That's right!" James added, arms crossed. "And if anyone dares to interfere, they'll regret it!"
As the passengers stood frozen in shock, Team Rocket's black-uniformed grunts activated their devices.
A powerful suction force erupted, pulling Poké Balls from passengers' hands and belts. Chaos broke out as people struggled to hold onto their belongings.
From their position further back, Ash, Misty, and Kai weren't yet affected by the suction.
Watching the scene unfold, Kai remarked, "Just like in the anime… Team Rocket strikes again."
However, the passengers weren't about to give in. As Poké Balls began releasing their Pokémon, trainers rallied their partners to fight back.
Team Rocket's grunts mainly used Poison-type Pokémon like Ekans, Koffing, and Zubat.
The passengers' Pokémon varied but were mostly unevolved ones like Rattata, Pidgey, and Bellsprout.
Ash, Misty, and Brock soon joined the fray, commanding their Pokémon in the chaotic battle.
The clash intensified, with explosions and flames reducing the hall to shambles.
Still, it was clear that unless Team Rocket had a backup plan, their defeat was only a matter of time.
But could it really be that simple?
Kai observed calmly until He noticed something unusual on the second-floor balcony.
A man with a sharp appearance, codename Looker, was locked in battle with a Team Rocket officer sporting a purple mohawk.
The officer, with an air of menace, commanded two Pokémon: a Zubat with a sinister, gaping mouth and a Koffing spewing toxic gas.
Looker, on the other hand, had a Croagunk and a Growlithe by his side.
Recognizing the situation, Kai didn't hesitate. He dashed up the stairs to the second floor.
"Kai!" Looker called out, relief flashing across his face. He gestured toward the mohawked man. "This guy's name is Petrel
one of Team Rocket's four high-ranking commanders and the mastermind behind this heist. If we capture him, the entire operation will collapse!"
"Tch, don't interfere!" Petrel snarled "Interpol or not, anyone who gets in Team Rocket's way will pay the price!"
Kai quickly assessed the scene. Looking down at the chaotic hall, He said coldly, "Stop yapping, Kirlia, use Psychic!"
At his command, Kai's Kirlia unleashed a burst of psychic energy, slamming Petrel's Zubat to the ground.
The tide of the battle shifted immediately, and with Kai's intervention, Petrel
found himself outmatched.
Realizing he'd lost, Petrel grit his teeth and hissed, "Don't think this is over! We'll be back!" He then barked, "Koffing, use Smokescreen!"
Thick black smoke filled the area, obscuring everyone's vision. By the time the smoke cleared, Petrel and his Pokémon had vanished.
"Damn it!" Looker cursed, covering his nose as he scanned the area. "He got away…"
Despite Petrel's escape, the passengers and their Pokémon had largely regained control of the situation.
Team Rocket's heist had been thwarted, thanks to the combined efforts of everyone aboard.
