Pokemon: Spiritual Master Chapter 523

Unova Region, Nimbasa City – Pokémon Sanctuary.

Johan quickly informed Nurse Joy that the Genesects might be coming.

Her eyes widened in shock.

She hadn't expected such powerful legendary Pokémon to target the Sanctuary.

"With you here, Mr. Johan, we're lucky," Joy said, patting her chest with relief.

Johan's cheek twitched.

You really overestimate me...

The last time he faced the five Genesects—injured and weakened, no less—he barely held his ground. That was only possible because they were fighting in Kyurem's Giant Chasm, where Ninetales had a massive home-field advantage and they managed to isolate the Genesects one by one.

They were in the open, natural terrain. Ninetales was stronger, sure, but the Genesects would be prepared. Isolating them again would be near impossible.

Facing all five at once under coordinated command?

Johan didn't feel confident.

This was the man who punched out Dialga and Palkia, who rode Rayquaza. If a legendary Pokémon showed up, surely Johan had a plan.

"Miss Joy, please lead everyone away," Johan said.

Some of the Sanctuary's wild Pokémon were strong—

Feraligatr, Houndoom, Persian...

But just strong wasn't enough against the Genesects.

Joy nodded without hesitation.

She wasn't about to interfere with Johan's actions.

Of course, the wild Pokémon weren't thrilled.

This was their home, after all. Even if it was temporary, they didn't want to leave.

Ceruledge stepped up.

At Johan's signal, Ceruledge offered the wild Pokémon a feast—with delicious "PY" Pokéblocks made for flavor.

Instantly, the wild Pokémon flocked over.

With Joy, Chansey, Ceruledge, and others helping, they began gathering the Sanctuary's residents.

It took time—this place was huge, and many Pokémon lived here.

Eventually, outside on the grassy fields, a crowd of wild Pokémon gathered.

"You... need to run!"

A young voice echoed in Johan and Ceruledge's minds.

Johan immediately looked at Ceruledge.

It was that Genesect!

Back in the Giant Chasm, Johan had sent Ceruledge to fight the one with the Ice Drive, hoping to connect with it.

In the movie, that same Genesect had doubted its mission, was persuaded by Ash, and fought to protect other Pokémon.

Ceruledge had indeed bonded with it somewhat.

And later, Johan learned the one who had sent the distress signal to Porygon-Z wasn't all the Genesects—just this one.

It had done so unconsciously.

But hadn't Porygon-Z said they'd arrive in an hour?

It's only been... what, thirty-something minutes?

Dragonite, hovering in the sky, pointed off in the distance.

A black dot appeared—growing larger and closer.

The five Genesects, flying in tight formation!

"That fast?!" Joy gasped.

The wild Pokémon looked confused.

Wasn't this supposed to be a picnic?

Whoosh whoosh whoosh—

In the blink of an eye, the Genesects were overhead.

The red leader scanned the area, immediately spotting Johan and Gengar.

Before the order was even given—

The Ice Drive Genesect spotted the Aurus flowers blooming in the lake.

Seeing them, the Genesects grew excited.

Their first real sign of it in millennia.

The red Genesect's eyes dimmed slightly.

The others followed, forming a line behind it.

The Ice Drive Genesect looked toward Ceruledge.

The red one growled at it.

It recoiled and said no more.

Then it turned toward Johan and the Pokémon present, crouched low, revealing its back cannon.

"This is our home! No one comes near! Or... you'll be eliminated!"

The others lifted their cannons in unison, taking aim.

It was clear—they didn't want to fight.

But if the Pokémon didn't back down, they would.

Everyone could hear the psychic message—they understood.

Johan and his team stayed still.

But the wild Pokémon?

They stirred, angry and defiant.

Especially Feraligatr, Houndoom, and Persian.

Feraligatr roared first, arms wide, standing firm with zero fear.

He'd been friendly with Urshifu and Larvitar—but these weren't allies.

Houndoom and Persian stepped up beside him.

Seeing that, the red Genesect's eyes flared crimson.

But the Pokémon stood their ground.

Feraligatr fired Hydro Pump, Houndoom let loose Flamethrower, Persian unleashed Hyper Beam.

But combined, their power still paled in comparison to the red Genesect's tech cannon.

Johan's sharp command rang out.

They weren't unprepared.

Armarouge had already transformed. Its golden cannon gleamed, fire swirling inside.

Johan had originally planned to retreat, wait for Alder, Cynthia, or Caitlin to arrive, and avoid confrontation.

But the Genesects came early.

There was no more avoiding a clash.

"Full power! Armor Cannon!" Johan shouted.

His eyes glowed blue, his Aura flowing into Armarouge.

The cannon flared, red armor blazing—then turned gold.

As a Fire/Psychic type, Armarouge poured its psychic power into the blast too.

The sheer energy made Nurse Joy step back, her mouth agape.

This is just an Armor Cannon?!

Even real cannons aren't this wild!

Flames joined the others' attacks.

A thunderous explosion.

The shockwave knocked over smaller Pokémon. Silcoon and Cascoon rolled away like bowling balls.

As the smoke cleared, heat lingered.

The red Genesect stared ahead.

Armarouge's golden cannon still smoked. A charred trench stretched from its feet to the blast zone.

The cannon shot—was blocked!

The red Genesect remembered the Giant Chasm.

The five Genesects rose into the air.

They spun, forming a circular rotation—like a revolver—each gathering power.

They weren't letting themselves be isolated again.

"All lifeforms: Evacuate. Eliminate!"

"Eliminate! Eliminate! Eliminate! Eliminate!"

Johan stepped forward, finally seizing the opening.

He stopped Feraligatr and the others.

Facing the Genesects, he shouted:

"I know where your home is! I can take you there!"

Four of the Genesects showed surprise.

"You lost your home—so you plan to steal someone else's? I can help you find it. I'm the one who received your distress signal!"

He held up his phone.

"Is it true?" the Ice Drive Genesect asked.

"Humans. Untrustworthy. Eliminate," the red one growled.

"It could be true... maybe we—"

But the Ice Drive Genesect's eyes flared red.

Mind controlled—again!

"Humans. Must be eliminated."

Johan cursed inwardly.

No room for diplomacy?

Just like the movie, the red Genesect used its authority to override the others—refusing to admit its mistakes, even against Mewtwo.

Johan's eyes narrowed.

"Get them!" he snapped.

Gengar hurled a massive Shadow Ball straight at the five.

Johan whipped out a red chain.

If it worked on Dialga and Palkia, it could work on Genesects too.
