"Congratulations to Chris on winning the Alto Mare Summer Carnival Water Race!"

"The Mayor of Alto Mare presents our winner with the Alto Mare Cup Medal of Excellence!"

To the cheers of all the spectators, Lorenzo approached Chris in a formal suit.

Chris looked confused. "Aren't you the curator of the Church Museum? How are you also the mayor of Alto Mare?"

Lorenzo smiled. "Who said that the director of the museum can't be the mayor? My family has the longest history in Alto Mare."

Having just taken off his museum tour guide uniform and changed into formal clothes, he now truly carried an air of authority.

"I see..." Chris said, realizing he had underestimated this supporting character.

"This is the Alto Mare Cup Winner's Medal. Congratulations!" Lorenzo handed Chris a medal crafted from both glass and crystal.

Though called a medallion, it was actually enormous—so large that Chris needed both hands to hold it. Examining the Alto Mare Cup Winner's Medal closely, he could faintly make out the shapes of Latias and Latios etched onto its surface.

"Thank you!" Chris accepted the medal and basked in the cheers of the crowd.

After the "award" ceremony, the spectators gradually dispersed.

It was the Alto Mare Summer Carnival, a time to enjoy games, sports, and festivities. Besides water races, many other exciting activities were available.

Chris planned to train for water sports for a while. After all, he was aiming for the next Masters championship and hoped to win a Mega Evolution Stone.

As he walked, Chris carefully placed the Alto Mare Medal of Excellence in his backpack.

To his surprise, the Alto Mare Medal of Excellence possessed unique attributes:

Alto Mare Medal of Excellence: +30% movement speed on water, allows you to see the hidden figure of specific Pokémon.

A 30% boost in water movement speed was a massive advantage for Chris's future water sports endeavors. The latter feature, referring to the "specific Pokémon," piqued his curiosity.

"Latias and Latios?" Chris speculated.

It wasn't an unreasonable guess! The medal bore their images, and if he could pinpoint their location, he might have a chance to encounter them.

"Let's check it out!"

The Wave Breaker tournament was scheduled to begin again at five in the afternoon, leaving Chris with limited time.

He threw a Poké Ball, releasing Gardevoir, who used Teleport to carry him instantly.

In no time, Chris arrived at the entrance to the secret garden. At first glance, it seemed like an ordinary wall in a regular alleyway, but it was actually a portal he could pass through.

Walking down the dark promenade, he stepped into a scene of dazzling sunlight.

At the secret garden's entrance, the towering verdant trees cast a deep shade over the tranquil forest. The grass swayed gently, and the light blue pools of water sparkled. A few Pokémon moved peacefully, adding to the garden's serene beauty.

No matter how many times Chris visited, he was always struck by the garden's charm and tranquility, a place that seemed to instantly soothe the soul.

Sensing Chris's arrival, a red figure zipped through the forest. It stopped on a large tree not far from him, tilting its head curiously at Chris.

Chris immediately recognized the Pokémon with its streamlined body, long white neck, red lower body, and jet-like Dual Wingbeat.

It was Latias, Level 60. Follow current novᴇls on 𝓷𝓸𝓿𝓮𝓵✦𝕗𝕚𝕣𝕖✦𝙣𝙚𝙩

"Level 60 Latias?" Chris's eyes gleamed with excitement.

That level wasn't excessively high! It was significantly lower than the Level 89 Zapdos and Level 75 Regieleki he had encountered before.

Although legendary Pokémon were far stronger than ordinary ones, Chris figured that with enough Pokémon, some clever strategy, and a bit of luck, he might just have a chance to capture it.

While Chris was deep in thought, ten more azure figures flew from the depths of the secret garden, eventually landing beside Latias.

Unlike Latias's curious demeanor, one of the figures had a piercing, scrutinizing gaze, as if assessing Chris's intentions and the potential malice in his visit.

Chris's eyes immediately locked onto Latios.

It had a level displayed above its head: LV75.

"Level 75 Latios?" Chris muttered, feeling a wave of despair.

Capturing a Level 60 Latias would already require a team of Pokémon at Level 70. But if Latios was at Level 75, would that mean Chris needed an entire team of Pokémon at Level 80 or higher?

The key difference with legendary Pokémon wasn't just their level, but their extraordinary potential. As their levels increased, their strength grew disproportionately compared to ordinary Pokémon.

To even stand a chance against a Level 75 Latios, Chris estimated he'd need a team of Pokémon above Level 90.

And if he wanted to capture both the Level 60 Latias and the Level 75 Latios…

"Let's take this one step at a time," Chris decided, stepping back cautiously.

He waited briefly, scanning the area to ensure no third Latios was hiding nearby, before finally turning to leave.

As he walked away, Chris mulled over the challenge of facing legendary Pokémon.

Using underhanded methods—like the technology employed by evil organizations—wasn't an option. True trainers captured legendary Pokémon through strength, skill, and mutual respect.

To have any hope of victory, Chris realized he needed to significantly enhance his Pokémon's battle capabilities.

Three powerful techniques came to mind:

Mega Evolution: Boosts a Pokémon's overall combat power. Z-Moves: Maximizes the strength of a single move. Dynamax: Temporarily increases a Pokémon's size, HP, and move power while expanding the range of its attacks.

Chris couldn't help but smile as another thought crossed his mind. "And I heard the latest version includes a new evolution. Whether it's strong or not doesn't matter—I just want to see if it makes my Pokémon look cooler!"

With renewed determination, Chris began planning how to elevate his team to the next level.
