Chris ran toward the red Gyarados.

He wasn't worried about the mission copy failing. If it did, it would be a chance to start over—just like the copy of Project Volcano. What truly worried Chris was Pryce's remark: "The champion is already on its way."

If Chris had guessed correctly, the champion heading here would be Lance. As the Kanto Region Champion in the games, Lance also served as the Johto Region Champion, since the Kanto and Johto Regions shared a Pokémon League, including the Elite Four and Champion.

Of course, the Champions of the Alliance might vary from generation to generation. After all, Lance was eventually defeated by Green and became the Dragon Elite of the Elite Four. Chris found it more fitting to call him the Flying Elite since not all the Pokémon in Lance's lineup were Dragon Types, but they all had Flying attributes, like Gyarados, Aerodactyl, and Charizard.

In the anime, Lance had stopped the red Gyarados from rampaging and claimed it as his own Pokémon. Since this was a copy of that plot, Chris knew it would vanish as soon as the copy was completed. Fınd the newest release on 𝕟𝕠𝕧𝕖𝕝·𝕗𝕚𝕣𝕖·𝕟𝕖𝕥

But would the red Gyarados remain after the copy was completed? If not, wouldn't this trip to Johto Region have been for nothing? Was he really going to let Lance snatch it away?

Chris didn't know when Lance would arrive, but the time-limited task gave him ten minutes. He decided to treat this as his own deadline. His goal wasn't just to hold off the red Gyarados for ten minutes—it was to capture it before Lance arrived!

Chris stepped forward to block the rampaging red Gyarados.

"Roar!" The red Gyarados bellowed ferociously, its mouth glowing with the destructive energy of Hyper Beam. The dazzling white light tore through the earth as the frenzied Gyarados lashed out with pure chaos and destruction.

For centuries, Gyarados had been synonymous with devastation, toppling countless cities in both the Pokémon world and Chris's reality.

"It's a pity I don't have an Electric-Type Pokémon," Chris muttered. Gyarados's Water/Flying Typing made it four times weak to Electric moves. A high-level Electric-Type from an underground power plant, equipped with Thunder, could likely defeat this Level 70 Gyarados in one hit.

Unfortunately, that wasn't an option right now. Chris needed to adapt.

"Tyranitar, use Rock Slide!" Chris shouted, throwing a Poké Ball. He knew Flying Pokémon were weak against Rock moves.

"Tyranitar!" Tyranitar roared as it emerged. Sand swirled into the air, battling against the rain in a fierce clash that seemed to threaten the storm clouds above. Tyranitar crossed its arms, and a portal materialized overhead, raining jagged rocks onto the red Gyarados.

The attack caught Gyarados's attention, sending it into a rage. It zeroed in on Tyranitar, prepared to unleash its full fury.

As Gyarados prepared a Hydro Pump, a familiar, exaggerated voice cut through the chaos:

(You're amazing! Truly amazing!)

Wobbuffet had joined the fray, clapping enthusiastically and offering its signature Taunt-style Encore, much to the bewilderment of the raging Gyarados.

The red Gyarados roared furiously: "Roar!" Its crimson scales seemed to shimmer with its uncontainable rage. (▼皿▼#)

But now, affected by Taunt, its single destructive thought had crystallized into one clear objective: "I'm going to destroy that thing!"

A torrent of water erupted from Gyarados's mouth—a Hydro Pump that surged forward like a blue flood, as if to conquer the earth itself. Yet, before the attack could land, Wobbuffet's figure vanished into thin air, reappearing a hundred meters away, still clapping enthusiastically.

"Wobbuffet! (Awesome!)" Wobbuffet cheered, its face beaming as if to affirm its praise. The red Gyarados's fury intensified with every mocking gesture.

"Roar!" The enraged Pokémon let out a mad, hysterical cry, enduring the relentless Rock Slides pelting its body while refusing to halt its assault on Wobbuffet. Time after time, the Hydro Pump surged forward, only for Wobbuffet to disappear at the last second.

It wasn't that Wobbuffet had mastered Teleport—it was Gardevoir using its Teleport ability to ensure Wobbuffet stayed one step ahead of the attacks. Even so, Wobbuffet wasn't yet ready to counterattack with Mirror Coat, leaving it unable to directly retaliate against the red Gyarados's level 70 might.

Each missed attack only fueled Gyarados's rage further, driving it into what could only be described as extreme rage within extreme rage.

Chris watched the scene, a little nervous. He wondered if Gyarados's brain might overheat from the sheer fury. Then he remembered his Pokémon feeding courses. According to his lessons, Gyarados's rage could last for a month without any breaks. It wasn't like it had much of a brain to damage anyway, so Chris felt a bit more at ease.

"Wobbuffet, keep it up!" he called.

While Wobbuffet continued to keep the red Gyarados occupied, Chris's other Pokémon were working in perfect sync. Greninja, Garchomp, Tyranitar, and Blaziken all moved into position, ready to strike. The teamwork reminded Chris of the seventh floor of the Bell Tower, where they had used a similar strategy to deal with Dusknoir, the unfortunate ghost Pokémon that had been the victim of this tactic before.

"Taunt and meat shield combos are just too useful," Chris muttered to himself. However, he acknowledged the limitations—this strategy worked best against wild Pokémon. Against a Trainer, they could easily switch tactics and nullify the effect of Encore.

As Chris strategized, he suddenly felt his body being yanked away by Teleport, reappearing over a hundred meters from his original spot.

The ground where Chris had stood moments ago erupted in a violent explosion. His back was instantly drenched in cold sweat as the realization hit him: if Gardevoir hadn't intervened, he might have been thrown out of the mission copy altogether.

But where had the explosion come from? The red Gyarados hadn't attacked him directly.

Before he could think further, a childish voice rang out from the distance, filled with smug arrogance.

"Looks like the Pokémon's attention is on its Trainer. That's going to be a problem!"
