"What a terrible destructive power!" Wattson couldn't hold back his admiration.

Electrode's defense wasn't weak, but Gabite took it down in one hit, and it wasn't even a move that had a type advantage.

"Good work, buddy!" Wattson recalled his Electrode and threw out his second Poké Ball.

A flash of silver light revealed a Magneton, level 35.

"Magneton, use Tri Attack!" Wattson waved his hand, launching a fierce attack.

In front of Magneton, a blurry triangle formed, each corner glowing with a different light.

The red light represented fire, the azure light ice, and the saffron light lightning.

The power of three different types formed the triangle.

Tri Attack is a Normal-type move, and its unique feature is that it has a chance to inflict one of three status conditions: burn, freeze, or paralysis.

However, in real-life battles, some claim it can hit with all three conditions at once!

Most Pokémon that can master this technique have multiple heads, like Magneton, Dodrio, and Hydreigon.

The three rays of light shot out simultaneously, twisting in the air and merging into one. The brilliant beam seemed to be heading straight for Gabite.

"Dig," Chris commanded calmly.

Gabite dipped its head and dove underground, disappearing from sight as the Tri Attack struck the ground, leaving deep ruts but missing its target.

Seeing Gabite burrow underground, Wattson quickly gave a new order. "Magneton, use Magnet Rise!"

Dig isn't just an evasion tactic—its a powerful Ground-type attack. Since Magneton is Electric and Steel-type, it's four times weak to Ground moves. If Gabite's Dig connects, the battle would be over.

Magneton's magnets sparked, lifting its already floating body higher into the air.

Magnet Rise allows Electric-type Pokémon to levitate, granting them immunity to Ground-type moves.

This was how Wattson planned to counter Gabite's Dig attack.

But Chris had anticipated this. As Wattson shouted for Magnet Rise, Chris also issued a command.

Gabite's head emerged from below Magneton, releasing a blast of stored energy.

A dark green beam of energy engulfed Magneton from below.

When the Dragon Breath faded, Magneton was trembling, sparks flying off its body as it suffered from paralysis.

"Great luck!" Chris clenched his fist in triumph. Magneton was now paralyzed.

In battle, Electric-type Pokémon are immune to paralysis from Electric-type moves, but other moves, like Stun Spore and Dragon Breath, can still paralyze them.

"Now, use Rock Smash!"

Gabite, still glowing from its underground splash, lunged at Magneton. Its sharp claws, shining bright white, struck the middle of Magneton's central Magnemite.

Magneton crashed down from the air, hitting the ground hard in front of Wattson.

A swirl pattern appeared in all three of Magneton's eyes at the same time.

"Magneton has lost its ability to fight! The winner is Gabite!" The mechanical referee announced the result right on time.

"Gabite!! (That's two down!!)" Gabite roared fiercely, reveling in its victory.

Chris couldn't help but wonder, "Magneton is made up of three Magnemites, so why can't they separate and move independently? If they could, its mobility and strength would be greatly enhanced."

He had been pondering this ever since he first encountered Magneton. He imagined how useful it would be if, when attacked, the Magnemites could split up and flee in different directions, or attack from three separate angles.

Hydreigon is another example—while it has three heads, it essentially operates with one central consciousness.

And what about Dugtrio? The three Diglett brothers always pop up together, but what's beneath the ground? Is it really just three heads, or could there be something more... like three burly men hiding under there?

Chris chuckled at the thought. "I'd love to dig that up and find out!"

Dugtrio and Magneton have a lot in common—they can't split apart at will, despite being multiple Pokémon combined.

Chris sighed, attributing it all to the creators of the Pokémon world being a bit lazy in their design.

Meanwhile, Wattson had already recalled Magneton and was ready to send out his final Pokémon, his trump card.

A level 37 Manectric appeared on the battlefield.

Manectric had the appearance of a canine with a sleek blue body and a striking yellow mane that covered its entire head, making it look like it was wearing a bright yellow helmet. Its sharp eyes gleamed, occasionally sparking with electricity. Known for its incredible speed and mastery of lightning, Manectric's agility and control over electricity became even more formidable after its Mega Evolution. It was a fearsome lightning-fast attacker!

Chris faced Manectric confidently. "Gabite, use Sand Tomb!"

Gabite's eyes glinted with excitement. It gazed at Manectric as if it was eyeing an extra meal for the night, nearly drooling with anticipation.

This was the last opponent, and victory was within reach!

Gabite suddenly crouched down, digging its claws into the ground.

The earth beneath Manectric began to swirl like a whirlpool at sea, ready to engulf the Electric-type Pokémon.

"Quick Attack, get out of Sand Tomb's range!" Wattson called out.

Manectric's speed was undeniable. With lightning under its paws, it leaped away just as the ground began to cave in. Even though Sand Tomb's radius was large, Manectric managed to escape its reach.

But Gabite was ready. It dashed to the edge of Sand Tomb, intercepting Manectric as it tried to escape. With a fierce swipe, Gabite unleashed Dragon Claw!

"Gabi Gabi! (Get back here!)" Gabite growled, its claws slashing toward its opponent.
