Pokemon: The Legacy of Dragons Chapter 136

Logan opened the file. As he expected, it was an enormous manuscript, numbering in the hundreds of thousands of words. Buried within were strange diagrams—complex biological models that Logan couldn't begin to understand. From the brief explanations, however, he could at least tell they were all related to biology.

Logan was not a student of biology. And even if he had been, the other world he came from had never possessed a species like Pokémon. He doubted he would've understood much of it anyway.

So, skipping past the parts he couldn't comprehend, Logan went straight to the . The file was meticulously arranged: theory, objectives, experimental framework, success probabilities. It laid out the rationale behind the research, the method of experimentation, and the principles that sustained it.

Even as a university graduate, Logan couldn't decipher every technical detail, but he could piece together the broad strokes—and extract the critical information he wanted.

A Pokémon with irregular genetic factors. Its unstable genes meant it possessed a vast number of evolutionary possibilities. Eevee could adapt its body to its environment, unlocking multiple evolutionary paths.

According to Team Rocket's research, eight evolutionary forms of Eevee had been confirmed. Yet, based on Eevee's unique physiology, in theory it should be capable of evolving into any elemental type. The fact that only eight forms had been sighted didn't necessarily mean others did not exist.

No researcher had yet discovered additional evolutions, but the scientific consensus was clear—forms like Dragon-type Eevee, Steel-type Eevee, and Poison-type Eevee must exist. They simply hadn't uncovered the evolutionary trigger.

Thus was born the Eevee Modification Project.

Normally, once Eevee evolved, it was locked into that form. Reversion had been observed in rare Pokémon, but so few cases existed that scientists studying evolution and devolution lacked sufficient data.

Team Rocket's researchers decided to take another route. If materials for study were insufficient—then why not create their own? Eevee, with its infinite potential, was the perfect subject. If the experiment succeeded, they would produce a Pokémon with the ability to evolve and devolve endlessly at will.

In ordinary Pokémon, such an ability might seem trivial. But in Eevee, it could reshape the rules of battle itself. An Eevee with infinite evolution could adapt instantly, countering any opponent's type on command.

Reading this, Logan couldn't help but shiver at the scope of Rocket science. That they had created Mewtwo might have been dismissed as a miracle of chance—but this project, the Eevee Modification Project, was the result of relentless research, theory, and countless trials.

Logan kept scrolling. The file was massive—tens of thousands of words of experimental data.

Though Eevee were rare—possibly even endangered in Logan's original world—Team Rocket had managed to procure a significant number for testing. Every one of them was subjected to brutal experimentation. Logan could only grit his teeth as he read—the cruelty mirrored the horrors he'd already witnessed firsthand in Rocket laboratories. He could feel the pain those Eevee endured.

Yet despite the completeness of the data, and the abundance of test subjects, the experiments all failed. No Eevee survived the process. They died midway, unable to withstand the agony. Success required a subject capable of enduring the full depth of suffering.

The problem was simple: Pokémon were not human. They might understand fragments of human language, but not the logic or abstract reasoning of humans. The research had reached a dead end.

That was when a Rocket-affiliated Pokémon psychologist proposed a breakthrough. He compared it to human reflexes—suggesting the researchers condition Pokémon into patterns of response. His method: gradual conditioning through cycles of pain and freedom.

In other words: introduce pain incrementally, teach the Eevee that enduring it leads to release. Capture it again, increase the intensity, repeat. The Eevee would begin to associate pain with eventual freedom, believing that if it only persisted longer, true escape awaited.

And so, every time the experiment ended, the Eevee was freed for longer periods, instilling the illusion that permanent freedom was just one more trial away. Cycle after cycle, its tolerance grew.

This cruel system was overseen by none other than Sabrina. She was the one tasked with capturing the Eevee after each "release," the chief overseer of the project.

After countless failures, the impossible happened—one Eevee survived.

Through endless cycles of torment, one subject finally adapted. This Eevee developed the unprecedented ability to evolve and devolve at will. For now, it could only shift between Jolteon, Flareon, and Vaporeon. But the researchers were convinced the other evolutions lay dormant—simply awaiting discovery.

It was, without question, the only Pokémon in existence capable of limitless evolution and regression. A creature that could counter any opponent in battle.

Logan's own Dragonforce allowed his Dragon-types to resist all weakness. This Eevee, however, could tailor itself to match and overcome anything. The parallels—and the potential—left Logan stunned.

It was utterly unique.

By the time he reached this conclusion, Logan felt his heartbeat quicken. He wanted it.

But as he flipped further, the report abruptly cut off. From the structure, it was clear more data should have followed—other evolutionary trials, further records. Yet the project had ended midstream. It didn't feel like Rocket had abandoned it. It felt like it had been sabotaged.

At the very end of the file, however, one final record remained: a detailed signal wavelength log. Team Rocket had embedded a tracker in the surviving Eevee. With this frequency, they could locate it at any time.

Logan stared at the data, his mind racing.

Why did Sabrina give this file to me?

Recreating such a vast, intricate experiment would be nearly impossible. Even if it wasn't as singularly unrepeatable as the Mewtwo Project, this Eevee's success carried clear elements of chance. Why, then, would Sabrina—who valued power above all—deliver this knowledge to him?

Logan didn't understand her motives. But he had already decided.

No matter what it took, he would capture that Eevee.
