Inspection First Office.
Dong Xuebing and Luo Haiting walked toward the main office and heard someone lecturing the staff loudly.
“Xiao Chen, what are you doing? Can’t you do something so simple?”
“Director Liu, we had checked Deputy District Mayor Zhang’s bank account and did not find any problems.”
“What about his lover’s account? What about his relatives’ accounts? Why are you only looking into his account?”
“Huh? Yes. I will go to the bank again.”
“Get it done by tomorrow! The higher-ups are waiting for the results!”
“Yes. I will go now and report to you immediately once I find any clues.”
Luo Haiting’s face changed when she heard the conversation. She whispered to Dong Xuebing. “The one lecturing the staff is Deputy Director Liu Hanqing.”
So, this is Liu Hanqing.
They entered the main office and saw a middle-aged man in his forties standing in the office.
Dong Xuebing smiled to himself. You are instructing my men to investigate a case without informing me. This might be fine yesterday as Dong Xuebing was not officially appointed. But today is different. He is the Director of Inspection First Office, and Liu Hanqing is his deputy. No matter how highly respected Liu Hanqing was in the office, he had to report to Dong Xuebing on the latter’s first day. He did not report and continued to order the staff around. This is disrespectful.
Everyone stopped what they were doing when they saw Dong Xuebing.
Liu Hanqing looked at Dong Xuebing and smiled. “Director Dong, you are here.” He turned to the rest. “Everyone had met Director Dong yesterday at the meeting. Let me introduce him again. This is our Inspection First Office Director, Director Dong.”
The staff greeted Dong Xuebing immediately.
Dong Xuebing ignored them and continued to look at Liu Hanqing. This guy is quite interesting. He introduced him as if he was the Director and Dong Xuebing were his deputy. Who is he to introduce Dong Xuebing?! Sister Luo was right. This guy was feeling sore against him.
Dong Xuebing ignored Liu Hanqing and told the staff after a short pause. “Hi, let’s have a short meeting first.”
Liu Hanqing immediately looked at the staff. “Director Dong wants a meeting. Go back to your seats and pay attention.”
Luo Haiting looked at Liu Hanqing. “Director Liu, you should also sit and listen.”
Liu Hanqing glanced at Luo Haiting and smiled before turning towards Dong Xuebing. “Director Dong, you can start now.”
Dong Xuebing was irritated by Liu Hanqing. He did not finish his sentence, and Liu Hanqing interrupted him. Did he think he was the Director? Is he trying to lead the staff to revolt? Dong Xuebing finds Liu Hanqing more interesting, and he smiles. He wants to see what he is up to.
Dong Xuebing smiled. “I believe all of you know who I am. Let’s introduce yourself first.”
Liu Hanqing interrupted again. He smiled and looked at a young man. “Xiao Ning, you go first.”
Dong Xuebing had spoken normally, but Liu Hanqing had used a provocative tone.
The staff looked at Liu Hanqing and Dong Xuebing, not knowing what to do.
The young man started to introduce himself. “I am Ning Shaoyang. I worked in the City Commission for Discipline Inspection for four years.”
A pretty young woman continued. “I am Zhu Zhu. I have been with the Discipline Inspection for two years.”
The staff introduced themselves.
Dong Xuebing remembered their names and asked about their work. He asked if they faced any difficulties and showed concern for their welfare. He showed no airs, unlike Liu Hanqing. During the process, Liu Hanqing interrupted Dong Xuebing several times.
The staff was relieved when they saw Dong Xuebing so friendly. They were afraid they would be caught in the crossfire between their superiors.
Dong Xuebing smiled and announced. “Alright. Carry on with your work. Meeting dismissed. Director Liu, I heard you recently took charge of the Inspection First Office’s cases. Tell me about the cases we are working on.”
Liu Hanqing replied. “I was about to tell you. We received a report about a Deputy District Mayor receiving bribes. The higher-ups instructed us to look into it.”
Dong Xuebing looked at Liu Hanqing. “That’s it?”
“Yes.” Liu Hanqing smiled. “The rest are unimportant tasks.”
Luo Haiting looked at Liu Hanqing coldly. “Does that mean you don’t need to report those tasks?”
Liu Hanqing’s eyes turned cold. “Investigation is our duty, and other tasks are not important. Director Luo, you are new and don’t understand how we do things here.”
Luo Haiting retorted. “This is new. Not reporting to your superiors?! Is this trying to hoodwink Director Dong?”
Liu Hanqing coldly replied. “Director Luo, don’t accuse me. Do I need to report to you before Director Dong asks me?”
Dong Xuebing waved his hand and smiled. “Alright. I know. Director Liu is trying to share my workload. This is good as it showed his work attitude. Our Inspection First Office should have more people like him. Director Liu, if you think it is unnecessary to inform me of anything, you can don’t report anything to me in the future. Just decide for yourself. Haha….”
Liu Hanqing’s eyes darted around and replied. “I don’t mean that. If you are interested, I will send you our previous few meeting minutes later.”
Dong Xuebing looked at Liu Hanqing.
This guy is not easy to deal with.
Although Liu Hanqing had been trying to show his strength in front of Dong Xuebing with his words and tone, he did not say anything rude. He did not talk back to Dong Xuebing and admitted he was the subordinate. But everyone saw his disrespectful attitude.
This guy is a troublemaker.
It seems like the Inspection First Office has a severe problem.
