"Hmph! If the Lord of Chaos had not chosen to remain uninvolved, how could the Lord of Light and the Lord of Darkness be allowed to run rampant like this?" one Demon God grumbled.
"Exactly! If the Lord of Chaos City were to act, those upstart Demon Gods would be wiped out instantly."
Some clenched their fists, filled with resentment.
They saw the rising powers of the two factions as nothing more than arrogant upstarts, taking advantage of the absence of true rulers. However, they understood that they could not simply demand action from the Lord of Chaos City.
Providing them a place of refuge was already a great mercy. They could not ask for more.
Yet, beyond these dissatisfied voices, a new sentiment had begun to rise.
As the years passed, younger Demon Gods, unfamiliar with the legends of the past, started questioning the power of Chaos City's ruler, Gu Chuan.
Having spent eons in seclusion, Gu Chuan had not made an appearance since the dawn of the Age of Gods. To some, his absence was proof of his irrelevance.
"Who even is this so-called Lord of Chaos City? He simply attained enlightenment a bit earlier than the rest of us," one young Demon God sneered.

A few others nodded in agreement.
