Jiang Yan's physical condition was actually quite good, except for her inability to see. However, her uncle Tan Sheng was very concerned about his little niece's health and arranged for her to have a weekly check-up.
On Monday, Jiang Yan, full of resentment at being woken up by Lu Tu, stood at the door waiting to go for her check-up.
But Lu Tu was still inside, searching for some documents.
Jiang Yan's patience was truly poor. Tired of waiting, she decided to leave on her own.
Since Lu Tu had come to take over the main affairs of the place, the servants rarely appeared before Jiang Yan. The manor suddenly felt empty.
Jiang Yan fumbled around outside for a while, not encountering anyone. As she smelled the increasingly strong scent of roses, she suspected she had taken a wrong turn. She tried to go back but had forgotten the way she came.
Well, the young miss had no choice but to stop where she was and wait for someone to find her.
But when you're alone, every minute feels excruciatingly long. Before long, Jiang Yan's patience wore thin again, and she simply chose a random direction to walk in.
The floor pattern beneath her feet felt odd, Jiang Yan thought. It seemed to be vertical now, had she gone the wrong way...?
As Jiang Yan hesitated, someone suddenly grabbed her arm!
Unable to see and with the person not making a sound, her heart involuntarily quickened. But Jiang Yan figured there was only one person in the manor who would dare to grab her like this.
She tentatively spoke: "Lu Tu?"
Lu Tu didn't speak but made a sound of affirmation from his throat. He took Jiang Yan's hand and led her in the right direction, guiding her forward.
The young miss complained, "What took you so long? I've been waiting forever..."
Lu Tu apologized in a low voice, saying, "It was my oversight. It won't happen again."
In truth, he hadn't just arrived; he'd been there for a while. Otherwise, he wouldn't have appeared so quickly to prevent Jiang Yan from bumping into the wall.
It was indeed his fault for not gathering the materials beforehand, making the young miss wait too long.
When he discovered that the young miss was missing, he was almost beside himself with worry. Even though he knew she must be somewhere in the manor, he still searched frantically like a headless fly.
A vivid emotion he had never experienced before exploded in his heart. He was terrified of such incidents – sudden disappearances, whereabouts unknown. But when he saw the young miss crouching at the base of a pillar waiting, the feeling of having lost and found something precious instantly filled his heart.
Lu Tu hadn't grown up in a harmonious, loving family and hadn't received an education in love. He didn't dare to easily confirm that he had fallen in love with someone, and he was still unsure of his own feelings. But he knew that without the young miss, he truly couldn't manage.
The young miss was unaware of his thoughts as she tugged at his sleeve, swaying back and forth. After walking for a while, Jiang Yan suddenly said, "I shouldn't have wandered off."
When Lu Tu had approached her, she had heard his forcibly suppressed yet still rapid breathing. She had initially thought that Lu Tu wouldn't fall for her so quickly, so she hadn't considered that he would be so worried about her leaving on her own.
Strangely enough, Lu Tu immediately understood the young miss's meaning. She knew he had been anxious, and she was apologizing in her own way. It was as if his earlier thoughts had received a response.
All the unpleasantness settled, and Lu Tu's lips curled into a smile. "I understand that the young miss doesn't like waiting. In the future, I will absolutely never keep the young miss waiting for me."
"Hmm..." Jiang Yan deliberately dragged out the sound, indicating her reluctant acceptance of his explanation.
And so, the two knowingly smoothed over their relationship.
Jiang Yan had originally intended to call her uncle and request that Lu Tu be made a casual housekeeper, replacing him with someone else to take care of her.
But she had been busy giving Lu Tu a hard time for the past few days and had forgotten. By the time she finally remembered, the check-up results had already been sent to Tan Sheng, reportedly showing improved health indicators compared to before.
So Jiang Yan's request was rejected by her uncle.
Moreover, Lu Tu was becoming increasingly adept at taking care of her.
Every morning when he woke her up, he would first review the breakfast menu and describe it to Jiang Yan, making her mouth water. During meals, he had gradually figured out Jiang Yan's preferences. When she reached down, he would hand her chopsticks; when she reached down again, he would pass her a napkin...
All in all, Jiang Yan was becoming increasingly comfortable with Lu Tu's care. So she didn't insist on changing the arrangement anymore.
