"Where the hell were you just now?"
Just hearing Qian Qi’s voice made Li Haisheng furious, and he turned his head to lash out, "Is your brain full of crap? Why didn’t you help distract some of the beasts just now? What’s the point of having you around?"
Qian Qi scratched his head innocently, "Didn’t you say to only act when we encountered D-level magical beasts? I thought E-level ones didn’t need help! Come on, you should’ve made it clear! If you had clarified, I definitely would’ve helped you just now! You didn’t say anything, so I figured you didn’t need it. This one’s on you, don’t blame me!"
Qian Qi’s comeback took Li Haisheng aback, making him wonder if Qian Qi was actually smart or pretending.
Why was she as shrewd as a monkey when it came to money, yet as dumb as a pig when it came to fighting?
"Don’t be mad." Qian Qi patted Li Haisheng’s back, sincerely comforting him, "Losing your temper over small things, why bother thinking about it afterward? If your anger kills anyone, who’s satisfied? Besides, it’s tiring!"
She hoped he wouldn’t die from anger; she still needed his "protection"!
Li Haisheng took a deep breath; maybe it was the gloomy and cramped environment or the exhaustion from battle, but his temper was particularly fiery right now, feeling like punching Qian Qi to death.
After several deep breaths, he regained his runaway sanity.
"If we encounter magical beasts again, regardless of their level, you lead half of them away from the sky!" Li Haisheng gritted his teeth.
"Sure!" Qian Qi eagerly promised, "Don’t worry, this time I definitely will help you!"
Qian Qi’s confident assurance eased Li Haisheng’s anger a bit. He didn’t notice that Qian Qi used "this time" instead of "next time." Glancing at the beast corpses on the ground, he repeated, "Let’s move quickly, before more beasts gather."
"Alright, alright!" Qian Qi quickly agreed, "Let’s go; let’s head this way."
Seeing over a dozen E-level magical beasts appear again, Li Haisheng’s mental defenses began to crumble, "Damn it! Why am I so unlucky? Encountering magical beasts again?!"
"Yeah! Why are we so unlucky?" Qian Qi chimed in, desperately suppressing the upward curve of his lips, putting on an expression of deep bitterness, "Encountering magical beasts again! This is too tragic!"
"Go distract them!" Li Haisheng pushed Qian Qi, signaling her to go.
"Okay!" This time, Qian Qi committed to action; with her little backpack, she bravely ran towards the One-eyed Demon Sheep. Just as she was about to face it, she grabbed a Demon’s sheep’s horn and flew into the sky.
The captured One-eyed Demon Sheep struggled desperately, immediately drawing a few other Demon Sheep to chase after Qian Qi. Their slender yet agile limbs leapt onto the dangerous mountainside, and after a few high jumps, they began to soar towards Qian Qi in the sky.
"Holy crap—" Qian Qi quickly maneuvered the system to fly higher, "Are these mutant rock sheep? They can leap into such steep gorges?"
[Why don’t you punch them to bits?] The system grudgingly flew.
"I can’t." Qian Qi shook her head quickly, placing a hand over her forehead while dodging the attacks of the Demon Sheep and glancing at Li Haisheng fighting on the ground.
Once Li Haisheng killed all the remaining One-eyed Demon Sheep, she flew towards him with the Demon Sheep she held.
"Master! Are you done? Quickly kill these too! I’m running out of energy!"
Li Haisheng had just caught a breath, and turning his head, saw Qian Qi charging with the remaining Demon Sheep, his entire face turning green with anger.
"Are you crazy!" Li Haisheng’s lungs nearly burst with rage, his vision almost blacking out, "You’re supposed to lead them away! Why are you bringing them back!"
"What—?" Qian Qi shouted loudly, "The wind’s too strong, I can’t hear you—"
With tears nearly in his eyes, Li Haisheng stared at the approaching One-eyed Demon Sheep, angrily glaring at Qian Qi above him, resigning himself to continue fighting.
Qian Qi hovered over Li Haisheng’s head and dropped the struggling One-eyed Demon Sheep down, "Master—there’s one more here!"
Li Haisheng narrowly avoided being hit by the One-eyed Demon Sheep; luckily, he dodged in time, or he’d have been suffered a concussion from this high-altitude drop.
He yelled upwards, "Are you a pig? Can’t you fly higher and let it fall to its death?"
"Oh—right! Why didn’t I think of that? Sorry, really sorry!" Qian Qi grabbed her face with both hands and opened her mouth wide, her expression grotesque with darkness, "I’m really sorry! I was wrong! Please don’t say that about me; it makes me really sad!"
Li Haisheng was utterly exhausted from Qian Qi’s antics, finally managing to kill the One-eyed Demon Sheep, sitting tiredly on the ground like a dog, only to see Qian Qi plop down beside him.
Qian Qi, also tired, gasped while complaining, "I’m so hungry, Master, and tired. Aren’t you hungry? How about finding something to eat!"
As soon as Qian Qi finished speaking, she heard Li Haisheng grinding his teeth next to her.
"What the hell did you do? You’re tired?"
"Flying drains my energy too..." Qian Qi pleaded innocently, "See how I tried not to drag you down by being so diligent?"
Are you sure you’re not dragging him down? He felt like her legs were everywhere.
"Let’s go; the scent of blood is too strong here; it’s not good to stay." Qian Qi sternly reminded.
Already worn out, Li Haisheng didn’t want to converse with Qian Qi anymore, silently standing up to continue ahead.
Yet after taking a few steps, he recalled something and suddenly halted Qian Qi’s advance.
"This time, follow me." He suspected Qian Qi was a jinx, as every time she led, they would encounter magical beasts.
With Li Haisheng’s back turned, Qian Qi sulked, but as she turned back, she donned a fake enthusiastic smile, "Alright, I’ll follow you."
This time, they finally didn’t encounter any magical beasts. After walking for most of the day, nightfall came, and the canyon bottom became pitch black, forcing them to rely on Qian Qi’s flashlight to barely keep going.
"Master, I’m so sleepy, hungry, and tired."
Qian Qi couldn’t go on, preparing to convince Li Haisheng, "Why don’t we find a safe place for the night, rest, and have more energy to face the beasts tomorrow?"
Li Haisheng surveyed their surroundings, and after careful consideration, nodded, "Alright, it’s relatively safe here, without mountain wind. We shouldn’t get sick after lighting a fire tonight."
With some outdoor experience, he began to instruct, "You go up the gorge and find some firewood."
"Exactly, you’re the experienced one!" Qian Qi cheered, quickly climbing onto the system dashboard to soar into the sky.
After gathering enough firewood, Qian Qi flew in the opposite direction from where they came.
[Are we not going back?] The system questioned.
"What’s the rush?" Qian Qi sighed self-reproachfully, clutching her firewood, "Ugh, it’s my fault; the sky is too dark, and the flashlight battery died. I’m lost and can’t find the way back until daylight~^v^"
