"Just anybody? Then who are you to me?"
Easton Holmes completely ignored the main meaning Lily Turner was trying to convey and instead got tangled up with her over this. He spoke seriously, as if this was a very important matter to him.
Upon hearing this, Lily suddenly realized she had said something inappropriate earlier and hurriedly apologized, "I'm sorry! I was just too anxious earlier and said it without thinking. Please just consider it a slip of the tongue."
If it weren't for needing the money to fight those two despicable people, she wouldn't be here saying such insincere words with her head bowed down, something she couldn't even respect herself for.
"Just said it without thinking?"
Easton seemed quite dissatisfied with Lily's explanation. A hint of displeasure appeared on his cold face, and his sharp eyes stared straight at her, who was a head shorter than him.
She already had a nameless fear when facing Easton, and now being stared at by him without blinking made her fear even more intense. If it weren't for a strong will in her heart keeping her standing, she would have turned and fled long ago.
"Big brother! Can you just let this go? I really didn't mean to say that earlier." She paused and then continued, "You're such a big figure, please don't fuss over such little things with me, an ordinary person."
"What if I want to fuss over little things with you?" Easton seemed determined to argue with Lily, showing a stance of insisting on taking it seriously.
Crazy person!
Lily mentally rolled her eyes at Easton several times. If she could, she really wanted to walk away coolly, but she didn't have the backbone, "Mr. Holmes! Can I beg you, please? Don't argue with me like this, I..."
At this moment, the phone in her bag suddenly rang, abruptly interrupting her words.
"Sorry! I need to take this call." She withdrew her hands from his arm, took out her phone from her bag, and saw it was Freya Yeager calling.
Lily walked to the side with her phone, stopping where she was sure Easton couldn't hear, and answered, "Freya!"
"Why did you go out alone? Aren't you afraid the paparazzi will see you?" As soon as the call connected, Freya's worried questioning came through, she got anxious when she didn't see Lily upon returning to the hotel from the company.
"Freya! I was very careful, no paparazzi saw me." Lily said this without much confidence; there were quite a few paparazzi earlier, and even an entertainment reporter appeared in the elevator. If it hadn't been for being with Easton, she would have been completely exposed by that reporter.
Even after hearing Lily's words, Freya was still a bit uneasy, "Where did you go now? When are you coming back? I have things to discuss with you."
"I'm out dealing with something right now, I'll head back as soon as I'm done." Lily didn't know when she'd actually return, but she knew she couldn't just stay here aimlessly. If she really couldn't reason with Easton, she would consider leaving first.
"I'll be waiting for you at the hotel, be careful out there."
Freya didn't know what Lily was doing outside, but she did not casually inquire. Although she was Lily's manager, she knew she couldn't ask about everything going on, understanding this better than anyone.
