When Callix Linton called, Michael Linton was standing at the hospital room door saying goodbye to Fabian Holmes. This unexpected call directly interrupted their polite farewell.
Worried that the phone ring would disturb the patients in the hospital, Michael didn’t bother to say goodbye again to Fabian. He answered the phone while striding towards the emergency exit.
The moment he saw it was his old father calling, he guessed what was going on. After hearing his father’s sarcastic tone, he no longer had any doubts.
"I’ll come back right away, don’t worry."
Michael deliberately added the last "don’t worry" for Callix Linton on the other end of the call, just to reassure his father that everything here was fine, putting his mind at ease.
From his understanding of his nephew Easton Holmes, there’s no way his nephew would have told his father the truth. How it was managed to be glossed over, he did not know.
As long as it was handled, he could now be somewhat relieved.
Callix perceived the intent Michael wanted to convey through his words and said no more. Before hanging up, he just snorted at his son on the other end of the line.

The hum that reached his ears made Michael involuntarily curl his lips into a smile. Putting away his phone, he quickly ran downstairs.
After going downstairs, he immediately drove away from the hospital.
Although Callix hung up the call quickly, Michael knew that his father was now waiting at home for his return, anticipating him to come back and understand the real situation.
As Michael expected, after Callix hung up the call, he didn’t lie back down to continue sleeping. Instead, he sat leaning against the head of the bed, waiting for his son to return and get the whole picture.
Just because the old man didn’t drag Easton to inquire doesn’t mean he wouldn’t pull Michael aside for a questioning. He hadn’t closely questioned Easton only to avoid delaying him from going upstairs to accompany Lily Turner.
As he said, now there wasn’t anything more important than his unborn great-grandchild. He wasn’t merely giving it lip service; that’s how he truly felt.
The family’s top priority now was his yet-to-be-born great-grandchild.
When Michael drove back home, he didn’t go to his own room but directly headed to Callix’s room.
"Dad! Reporting in."
Upon entering, Michael immediately spotted his father sitting on the bed and was the first to speak up.
Seeing Michael return, Callix straightened up and quickly asked, "What are those two fighting about again? Causing such a commotion."
It’s one thing to cause a scene at home, but they even called him into it.
"The two of them quarreled over past issues, and this time it got quite heated." Michael only mentioned it got heated, not daring to say one of them ended up in the hospital, especially since the hospitalized person was the daughter of the one in front of him.
