Callix Linton’s question puzzled Lily Turner, and she tilted her head to look at the old Mr. Linton sitting on the other side of Michael Linton, "Easton said I belong to the Taylor Family, didn’t you know about this?"
When she asked the old Mr. Linton, she glanced at him sitting beside her.
"Part of the Taylor Family? Don’t tell me you’re the one..."
Callix stopped mid-sentence, unsure if it was due to surprise or something else. He suddenly turned to sit upright, "Is your mother called Jasmine Wood?"
Although more than twenty years had passed, he still remembered that name.
"Jasmine Wood? My mom’s name is Sophia Wood."
Lily Turner was completely baffled by Callix Linton’s words. She turned around to face Easton Holmes, "Did you and Uncle make a mistake? I have nothing to do with the Taylor Family."
Although both last names are Wood, the first names are so different.
"Your mother was originally called Jasmine Wood; she changed her name to Sophia Wood later on," explained Michael Linton from behind her. Hearing this, she turned around to look at him, and as she did, he continued, "We are not mistaken, you are indeed a child of the Taylor Family. Your father is Daxton Taylor, the second son of the Taylor Family."
Michael Linton explained in great detail and very earnestly. He hoped that both the old Mr. Linton and Lily Turner could understand clearly.
Back then, Callix Linton was present at the scene. Hearing Michael Linton bring up this matter, the events from back then flashed through his mind.
Recalling those past events, he couldn’t help but glance at Lily Turner. As he looked, he began to sigh heavily.
Callix Linton’s sighs were so pronounced that the other three present could hear them, especially Lily Turner, who heard them most clearly.
She got up and sat next to the old Mr. Linton, reaching out to grab his sleeve and demand the truth of what happened back then, "Grandfather! What exactly happened back then? Why did the Taylor Family drive my mom and me out?"
The old Mr. Linton’s sighing, combined with what Evelyn Taylor had just said, led her to believe something unpleasant happened back then.
"Your grandparents were heartbroken at the time, and later on, they regretted it—regretted driving you and your mom away. But by then, when they wanted to find you two again, you and your mother were nowhere to be found," Callix Linton revealed something even Michael Linton did not know, feeling a mix of surprise and a bit of solace.
Lily Turner began to mentally piece together what happened more than twenty years ago, and as the picture became clearer, she felt deeply pained.
She felt the pain not just for herself but more for her mother.
Her mother must have been heartbroken at the time. Losing her husband at such a young age was already pitiful, but in her most difficult and saddest times, they drove her and her child out of the house.
How heartless did they have to be to do such a thing? How could they, as a family, bring themselves to do that, to be so cruel as to bully a widow and her child?
Not hearing any reaction from Lily Turner’s side for a long time, Easton Holmes couldn’t sit still. He quickly got up and walked over to her. As he approached, he saw her with her head down, looking dejected, and his heart ached sharply.
Easton Holmes reached out, intending to touch Lily Turner’s head, but suddenly she lifted her head, which had been bowed, and looked at him for a while before abruptly standing up, "I want to go home and see my mom."
