After Easton Holmes and Lily Turner left the house, Michael Linton and Callix Linton started to worry. Callix, who was used to sleeping early, refused to go to bed no matter how much Michael urged him. He stubbornly sat on the sofa and wouldn’t go back to the room to sleep.
As it was already past eleven at night, Mr. Linton began to yawn continuously, yet he still wouldn’t return to his room to sleep. Michael had no choice but to take out his phone and dial Easton Holmes’s number.
Upon learning that they would be home in over ten minutes, he breathed a sigh of relief. If they didn’t return soon, he was genuinely worried that his elderly father wouldn’t hold up.
"Got it."
Michael responded with a shout and hung up the phone.
"Are they still at the Turner family? What’s the situation now?" As soon as Michael finished the call with Easton, Callix immediately leaned over to inquire about the news.
Seeing his father looking so concerned, Michael didn’t dare delay any further and immediately said, "They’ll be back soon. From Easton’s tone, it seems like they had a good conversation over there."
He truly wasn’t just trying to comfort his father; this was his most direct feeling after the call.
"Really?"
Callix was still worried, and to say he wasn’t would be a flat-out lie. His main concern was for Lily, who was pregnant.
If she got upset, it wouldn’t be good for her or the baby in her belly.
His father’s worries were written all over his face, and Michael could see it clearly. To reassure his father, he solemnly nodded, "It’s true."
What really happened could only be known once they came back, but he was very optimistic about how things were developing.
"Oh!"
Callix let out a light "oh." While he felt a bit relieved now, there was still some worry in his heart. He had to wait until they returned and see that they were alright before he could be completely at ease.
Michael didn’t bother urging his father to sleep because he knew it was useless. His father certainly wouldn’t go to bed until those two returned.
He decided not to waste any more effort, as he’d already done so many times tonight.
He would just sit and wait with his father. Anyway, the two of them would soon be back.
As the father and son waited eagerly, Easton Holmes and Lily Turner returned. Seeing them walk in so relaxed, the father and son in the living room finally let go of their worries.
"Grandpa! Why aren’t you asleep yet?"
On seeing Callix still sitting in the living room, Easton didn’t need to ask to know they were waiting for them. It made him feel somewhat uneasy.
Callix waved his hand at them as they entered and then patted the empty spot beside him, "Come over and tell Grandpa what the situation is now."
Callix was so eager to know what was going on with Easton and Lily that he got straight to the point the moment he spoke, giving them no chance to catch their breath.
"Everything’s fine!"
Seeing Mr. Linton waiting in the living room, Easton immediately understood what his grandfather was worried about. As soon as he finished asking, Easton delivered his prepared response right away.
Even though Easton summed it up in just four words, both Callix and Michael understood clearly. From his facial expressions and the tone in his voice, they could tell he wasn’t lying.
