Easton Holmes wasn’t questioning Ryan Taylor about what he said to Lily Turner. He just wanted to know what they talked about earlier, simply because there’s been a significant change in their relationship.
He wanted to have first-hand information to see how he should follow up and how he should make an effort.
However, Ryan Taylor didn’t know what Easton Holmes was really thinking. Hearing his good friend ask like that, he thought Lily had told him what he just said, and that his good friend was calling to settle accounts.
"I didn’t know it was your wife who answered the phone. If I had known, I definitely wouldn’t have said those things." Ryan said, defending himself right away without mentioning what exactly he said just now. He wasn’t hiding anything; he was completely honest.
Hearing this, Easton Holmes became even more certain that Ryan Taylor had said something inappropriate earlier and immediately pressed him, "What exactly did you say just now?"
As he asked, he subconsciously glanced in the direction of the kitchen. Not seeing that tall figure, he breathed a sigh of relief.
Hearing Easton Holmes ask again what he had said, Ryan Taylor instantly dismissed his previous assumption. So it turns out that girl hadn’t told his good friend anything.
However, that his good friend would call, the girl wasn’t entirely innocent either. She must have complained a bit.
"I didn’t really say anything, just mentioned that after you got married, you forgot about us brothers, and the three of us should kick you out." Ryan didn’t repeat his words verbatim, but the meaning was the same. He wasn’t the type to do something and not own up to it, especially since he hadn’t said anything inappropriate.
Among their group of friends, joking like this was perfectly normal.
"That’s all?"
Easton Holmes thought Ryan Taylor might be withholding something and asked.
"That’s all."
Ryan Taylor raised an eyebrow and retorted, "Don’t you trust me?"
There shouldn’t be a trust crisis between their group of brothers, should there? Hopefully not.
"No, I was just concerned you’d pressure my wife into recognizing you." Easton Holmes was genuinely worried about this. Aiden Taylor was so composed, yet that day at noon he rushed over to recognize her, so his concern wasn’t baseless.
Hearing this, Ryan Taylor realized Easton Holmes was actually worried about this. Just now, he indeed wronged him by assuming that Lily said something to Easton, causing his good friend to call him.
"My dad told me at the cemetery earlier, we can’t rush recognizing Lily. We need to take this slowly." He also thought so; recognizing family isn’t like other things, you really can’t rush it.
"That’s for the best."
Knowing what he was worried about didn’t happen, Easton Holmes finally felt relieved.
So he really doesn’t recognize his good friend now that he has a wife. Since when did this guy become so obedient to his wife?
If things continue like this, it’s only a matter of time before he becomes a henpecked husband.
Ryan Taylor raised his eyebrow in discontent, but he didn’t express this dissatisfaction directly. Instead, he chose a different approach, "We can take our time with Lily, but it’s different with you. I’m now your big brother-in-law, shouldn’t you call me ’brother-in-law’?"
