Although Lily Turner was sulking with Easton Holmes, she meant what she said earlier; she was deliberately trying to annoy him because he wouldn’t give her any freedom.
"Pfft!"
Hearing Lily say this, Easton suddenly burst out laughing. Seeing him change expressions faster than a professional face-changer, she rolled her eyes at him twice in exasperation.
"Easton Holmes! Can you respect me for a moment? I’m trying to annoy you, not make you laugh." Was what she said that funny? Did this man get his brain squashed by a door?
Lily pushed the man who had her trapped in his embrace and reminded him, "Let me go, alright? This is your territory, lots of people must know you. Aren’t you afraid of what they might say?"
She’s no longer in showbiz, so she didn’t care about such things, but he was different.
He’s a leader in the army. Surely, people here would recognize him. She thought he would care at least a little about that.
"Why should I be afraid when I’m hugging my own wife? Let them say what they want," Easton tightened his arms, pulling the woman in his embrace closer. If he cared about that, he wouldn’t be doing this.
She thought he would care a bit, but Lily misjudged. She was thoroughly defeated by this man.
"You’re thick-skinned enough not to care, but I’m not. I’m afraid of people gossiping behind my back." Unable to push him away, she resorted to poking his chest with her fingers, "I’ll have to stay around here in the future, so could you please let me go?"
Could you? She said this through gritted teeth, feeling both angry and anxious, but she didn’t have the strength to push him away.
They were at the entrance of the compound, people coming and going; it was inevitable they might meet someone who knew him.
Her mother must be on her way too, and if she saw them hugging like this in the street, as an elder, she definitely wouldn’t approve.
But they weren’t even showing affection!
She was being hugged by force, and he was just showing her his dominance. Right now, she didn’t have any other thoughts.
But the man hadn’t eased his hold at all and showed no intention of doing so.
Easton still held Lily tightly, not saying a word, just quietly looking down at her.
"What do you mean by this?"
Could he be like his cousin, always needing to cling to her?
Seeing Easton like this, Lily suddenly had this thought. After it flashed through her mind, she couldn’t help but look at him curiously.
Easton, although unsure why Lily was looking at him that way, expressed what was on his mind, "I only mean one thing, and that’s you coming back with me."
The only thought in his mind was to take her home.
Just as expected!
This man didn’t want her to leave, truly clinging to her, but he was even more excessive than his cousin.
At least his cousin didn’t stop her from leaving, but he was domineeringly preventing her.
Lily couldn’t accept it. She couldn’t accept this kind of Easton Holmes and couldn’t accept such a life without freedom.
