Easton Holmes drove to the military district, while Alice Turner and Lily Turner returned to the Turner Family home. As soon as the two sisters walked in the door, Sophia Wood approached them from the living room.
"What’s the deal with that woman?"
Earlier on the phone, Alice wasn’t very clear, and Sophia didn’t fully understand. During the time it took the two sisters to arrive, her heart was filled with worry.
Alice spoke up before Lily did, having understood the truth of the matter from Lily on their way there. She summarized the situation and explained it in her own words, "That woman is Easton’s ex-girlfriend. She heard he’s getting married, so she showed up to deliberately cause trouble."
She tried to simplify things to prevent their mom from overthinking.
"Is he still in contact with his ex-girlfriend?"
Easton had dated before, which didn’t surprise Sophia at all. Such an outstanding man couldn’t possibly have a blank romantic history.
She wasn’t concerned about his past; she cared about his future, relating to her daughter’s happiness.
Lily shook her head, "They’re not in contact."
The woman had just returned from abroad. How could he possibly be in contact with her?
If they’re not in contact, how did she know he was getting married, and that it’s happening tomorrow?
He spoke so firmly that she could tell he wasn’t lying to her.
The woman’s return was too suspicious!
"If they’re not in contact, how did his ex-girlfriend find out?" Sophia wasn’t doubting Lily’s words; she was worried Easton might have lied, fearing he would end up like his father, Fabian Holmes.
Lily honestly shook her head, "I don’t know either."
She couldn’t explain the reason behind it, but she was sure of one thing, that she would just trust him.
"Easton doesn’t know either?"
Sophia continued to question Easton. A situation like this right before the wedding—who wouldn’t be worried?
"Yes!"
Lily spoke the truth without any concealment.
"Mom! Can we go inside first?"
Seeing Sophia focusing her doubts on Easton, Alice timely interrupted, taking them both by the arm, guiding Sophia and Lily towards the living room.
As she led her mom and sister to the living room, she also offered her mom some reassurance, "That woman looks very cunning, surely she found out from somewhere."
Although Alice had only briefly encountered Valentina, with her knack for reading people, she could tell that woman was very shrewd.
Her sister, being so carefree, if she and that woman crossed paths, her sister would surely be at a disadvantage.
Sophia turned her head to look at Alice, hearing her confident words, she couldn’t help but ask, "Did you just see that woman too?"
If that woman was as manipulative as her elder daughter said, then what would her younger daughter do? If that woman played any tricks, she couldn’t bear to think further.
"I just had a brief encounter with that woman."
When Alice turned her head to look at Sophia, she found Sophia looking worried, so she quickly added, "But there’s no need to worry too much. That woman isn’t as young as our Lily, nor as pretty. Most importantly, Easton loves our Lily very much."
