Upon hearing the summons from the elderly father, Fabian Holmes and Amelia Linton, who had just sat down, quickly stood up and followed the elder out of the living room.
After leaving the living room, the three of them walked into Mr. Linton’s room one after another.
"What is your purpose in coming today? Is it purely to attend the wedding? Or are you using the wedding as an excuse to do something else?" Mr. Linton asked directly as soon as he closed the door.
He went straight to the point without beating around the bush, and he didn’t show any courtesy to the two of them. His words were very blunt, and his tone was extremely harsh.
Before coming in, Fabian Holmes and Amelia Linton thought Mr. Linton wanted to discuss something. Now, hearing his words, they realized he was questioning their purpose for coming.
The father’s mistrust made Amelia Linton feel extremely upset. She had just survived a close call the night before, and today she rushed over as soon as she woke up. Her good intentions were met with suspicion, the suspicion of her own father.
"Dad! Saying this is really hurtful. Easton is our son. Of course, we’re here to attend his wedding." Not only was her wrist wound aching, but her heart also began to hurt, even more than the wound on her wrist.

Fabian Holmes had been reflecting a lot these days and began to truly recognize his mistakes, as well as the guilt he felt toward Easton over the years.
He had neglected his eldest son far too much. Now, he wanted to make it up to him, but he didn’t know how.
"Dad! We were wrong. We shouldn’t have ignored Easton all these years while focusing only on ourselves. I..."
"You were the one who only cared about yourself and ignored Easton. I didn’t. I came to see Easton every now and then."
Fabian Holmes admitted his mistakes to Mr. Linton, but before he could finish, Amelia Linton, unable to bear it any longer, interrupted him angrily, whether it would upset him or not.
Amelia Linton’s words were immediately met with Mr. Linton’s sarcasm, "Checking in on Easton every now and then, you really are a remarkable mother."
He glanced sideways at his daughter standing beside him, showing an expression of disappointment and frustration.
"Dad! Why are you always on my case? Am I really your daughter?" Faced with her father’s sarcasm, Amelia Linton was so angry that she spoke without restraint.
Her words nearly made Mr. Linton faint with rage. He glared at her for a long time before his emotions slowly calmed.
"I wish you weren’t my biological daughter, but that’s just my wish." Mr. Linton spoke without any politeness, his face showing displeasure and his eyes full of anger.
These words shocked not only Amelia Linton but also Fabian Holmes, who had always known that his father-in-law was stern and never showed personal favor in words or actions.
He could barely understand Mr. Linton’s lack of leniency towards him, but he couldn’t comprehend why Mr. Linton would treat his own daughter the same way.
Amelia Linton was infuriated, heartbroken, and upset to the point of exasperation, "Dad! How can you treat me like this?"
