His shoulder wound began closing even as he watched, the torn flesh knitting together at visible speed.
His first healing talent - and an F+ Grade at that.
"Not bad for a night's work." Four dead hunters, one dead bear, and two new talents
acquired.
Plus whatever equipment the hunters had carried. Sometimes risk paid off.
Ethan rummaged through the hunters' bodies, collecting anything useful. Ray's bow was a
definite keeper, but as his eyes landed on the hunter's hand, he froze.
"Is that a storage ring?!" His voice rose with excitement.
The simple band looked ordinary, but Arthur knew how valuable a storage ring was.
Storage rings were the domain of the wealthy and powerful, not random hunters. It required a human with the space element to create it after all.
Those with such talent are incredibly scarce and only live in the strongest cities.
When Ethan touched it, something clicked in his mind.
A new sense awakened inside of him.
It was unlike sight, touch, or any of the five senses. It was a strange awareness of items existing in a pocket dimension.
"Weird," he muttered, testing the connection. "Can't see the contents, can't touch them directly, but I know they're there."
He wasted no time dumping his newly acquired loot into the ring. Whether it was cores, weapons, even the bear's body as trophies. The evidence of his night's work vanished instantly.
'I don't have much space left..' He thought.
Curious, he checked the second hunter's status.
"Shield talent? Seriously?"
Ethan rolled his eyes.
"Should have put more arrows in him, he deserves to suffer before dying."
Although he was annoyed he didn't get a new talent, he realised something new about his talent.
Ethan couldn't devour talents similar to those he already had.
Since this hunter's shield ability ranked lower than the beetle's talent he'd already devoured, he was unable to gain a new talent.
"Good to know," he muttered.
Ethan moved quickly to the woman's body next, kneeling beside her still form. Blood had pooled beneath her curved blade, now lying uselessly at her side.
"Let's see what you've got," he muttered, activating his status vision.

Ethan's eyes lit up. "Now this is useful."
Unlike the shield talent, this was something new. He activated devour without hesitation, the woman's body dissolving into energy that flowed into him.

Instantly, his awareness of blade handling expanded. Grip techniques, slashing angles, vital point targeting.
Knowledge that would have taken years to master suddenly became intuitive.
He picked up her curved dagger, testing its weight. His hand automatically adjusted to the perfect position.
"It feels like the blade is an extension of my arm", Ethan exasperated as he tried slashing a few times.

"Four talents now," Ethan grinned, storing the dagger in his new ring. "Getting crowded in there."
"Dawn is going to creep in soon. I need to move before the city wakes up, and my absence is noticed."
With one last glance at the battlefield.
Ethan activated Enhanced Speed and disappeared into the forest. The evidence would rot away or be consumed by scavengers. Nothing to connect him to this night's work.
"Besides, who would suspect a talentless scout of killing Bronze-rank hunters and a Mid-Bronze beast?"

Ethan approached the city walls under cover of night, his new Enhanced Speed making the journey back a blur.
"Perfect timing," he whispered, spotting his section of the wall. Jack remained slumped against the battlements, still in deep sleep.
With a quick glance to confirm no wandering eyes, Ethan climbed the wall.
Thirty seconds later, he slipped back into position beside Jack, who hadn't moved an inch.
The nearest guards were stationed too far to have noticed his absence, and the shift change was still an hour away.
"Some security," Ethan muttered, settling in as if he'd never left.
Jack stirred beside him, mumbling something incoherent before settling back into sleep.
'I have already changed my clothes, my wounds have healed, so no sign of combat can been spotted. Everything should be good..'
